I actually think DQ games, particularly 4 and 5, have extremely experimental and interesting storytelling that still haven't caught on 20 years later.
School portions in P3 are a huge portion of the game, so are story and characters. Persona games were always the more story-based SMT side game anyways.
It's impossible to get anything out of P3/P4 without at least liking the story sections, because the story sections impact the gameplay. For example, you have to know the character's personality so you pick the right dialogue choices to rank up your slink with them so you can create more powerful Persona. Gameplay and story in P3/P4 are like *that*
So I knew the game wasn't for you when you admitted to having skipped through SJ's intro.
