I liked the trailer. Personally impressed by the cut scene they show, the new scenario, the blockbuster feel, the new feature, and the joke.

After all the controversy over the first game, you'd think EA would not show a trailer with a plane slamming into a high-rise.

Never played the first so I can't comment on it

I'll say this about this demo. Game feels like shit. Controls feels bad. The framerate is dodgy. And it locked up/crashed on me in the demo when me and my online partner died.

I'll give army of Two credit for actually doing something with the co-op bits, and using makeshift shields together with a buddy was damned cool, but I was way too involved in reading about mercenary historu to tolerate the way everything was presented. I really need to learn to get past that kind of stuff.  :-\

I'll say this about this demo. Game feels like shit. Controls feels bad. The framerate is dodgy. And it locked up/crashed on me in the demo when me and my online partner died.

I came to say the same thing.  This game is messy as fuck.  Not only did it constantly run poorly and really affected aiming and basic controls, there were random glitches throughout.  Then during one sequence in the middle, all audio cuts out and we're left watching mouths move with no speech.

First game was a fun competent gears clone with more focus on co-op, not great or anything, and I'm sure this could be too if it didn't run like shit.  There was a firefight where it seemed like there was a second delay on just aiming; not milliseconds that people measured Killzone and Halo with, it felt like I could count between the time I moved the analog stick and the game reacted.  Oh, and the netcode is awful.  Constantly it would be stop and say "waiting for other player" for upwards of 30 seconds.

It doesn't help that the demo is set in the beginning of the game and is a co-op only demo.  You have to watch a mandatory cutscene, in-game cutscene (where you run around with no weapons), do some tutorials for 10+ minutes before you get into the normal action from the first game.  I stuck with it because I felt bad about leaving the guy I was playing with, thinking the game would boot him as well.  I eventually left at a section when the game seemed to drop to 10 or 15 fps and it was unplayable.

Yikes. It's a bit odd, though, since the first game felt plenty playable. Aiming and tech performance seemed alright, I just couldn't get past the silliness of it.

I got further than I did before without it locking up on me.

It is what it is. I think something like this may have been more acceptable earlier in the gen but it just doesn't sort of pass muster at this point.

I mean if you are dying for some co-op action then I guess its alright and I might eventually gamefly it someday when I'm bored but its not worth paying more than 15 bucks used for if that imo.

The weird thing about the frame rate is that the graphics aren't even very good. The way this game looks you would think it would be pushing 60 frames easily. Weird. I'm not a graphics guy, so I don't really care about the graphics at all but its odd that the frame rate chugs. I didn't play single player before I deleted the demo so maybe it's better there?

The game is trash.  It feels like a shoddy Gears rip off with gay(er) understones (not that there is anything wrong with that.  :-*)

I enjoyed the first one. The Aircraft Carrier and Hurricane levels were memorable.

Billyofcourse and I played the shit out of the first one.  It fits our playstyles perfectly.  I like to sit back and pick people off, and he likes to run in with a shotgun and a rocket launcher and die.  I'm fine with this.

Day one, more than likely for both of us.

although my normal strategy of dying didn't happen nearly as often in this game.  Feign death FTW.

Are the co-op maneuvers still good?

There is a lot of flanking and using the aggro system.

Not sure. Someone who played the first would probably be able to speak to those questions better than me. But most of the people hate the demo on GAF too.

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=382229&page=2

And apparently it runs extra bad on the PS3 which is amusing because it doesn't run all that great on the 360.

If you can put up with all the bullshit there is probably some fun to be had co-op but that is putting up with a lot.
