Killing Floor is a Co-op Survival Horror FPS set in the devastated cities and countryside of England after a series of cloning experiments for the military goes horribly wrong. You and your friends are members of the military dropped into these locations with a simple mission: Survive long enough to cleanse the area of the failed experiments!

  • Cooperative gameplay for up to six players against multiple waves of specimens
  • Persistent Perks system, allowing players to convert their in-game achievements into permanent improvements to their character's skills and abilities
  • Over 40 Steam Achievements, including “Dignity for the dead” for killing 10 enemies feeding on dead teammates' corpses and “Hot Cross Fun” for finishing off 25 burning enemies with a Crossbow
  • Slow-motion “ZEDtime” to better watch those crucial and violent creature deaths, even in multiplayer
  • Solo game mode for offline play
  • Nine different monster types trying to eat your face off, armed with everything from teeth and claws, to chainsaws, chain-guns and rocket-launchers
  • 12+ weapons for the players to chose from, ranging from knives and fire-axes to pump shotguns, rifles and a flamethrower
  • Equip your team with welders, medical tools and body armor to help your odds of survival
  • Choose which Perks to play with to best balance out your co-op team against the horrors
  • Open, non-linear play areas: choose when and where to fight — or run; weld doors closed to direct the monster horde down alternate corridors
  • Fully-configurable, allowing players to change the difficulty level, number of creature waves, or even set up their own favorite waves of monsters
  • Support for Steam Friends and other Steamworks features
  • Includes SDK for the creation of new levels and mods

If you preorder it's just $15.  :hyper

This game is seriously awesome. Everyone with Steam needs to get it so we can all kill zombies together.

How does it feel in comparison to L4D?  While I enjoyed it quite a bit, I never felt that the gun play really provided a satisfying experience.  The zombies felt paper thing in terms of how they reacted to your weapons fire.  The animation was also too fast looking (nothing had weight).  Good game that never felt great to play.  Does Killing Floor improve upon this?

There's some similarities, but the gunplay in Killing Floor feels like it has a lot more weight to it. All of the guns have a varying amount of kick, some more than others, and also there's no crosshairs, so you have to either eyeball it or use each gun's built-in sights. No friendly-fire either.

The zombies react about the same, though. You get dismemberment and such, but there isn't really any blowback when using more powerful weaponry.

Rumbler we'll have to play sometime. I've been playing it since it came out. I've got everything up to level 2 except for stupid Firebat. I've even gotten Field Medic up to level 3.

I've got the welding/shotgun perk to level 2 and the bullpup perk up to 2. This game is cooler than Left 4 Dead. It feels more visceral. When you get mobbed by a horde of the undead you really feel like you've been overwhelmed and are suffocating. My Steam Id is xCravisx.

what kind of co-op game is this? is it like L4D where you go through levels or something like Horde?

More like Horde mode in Gears.

Unlike L4D, which has your group going from point A to point B in a level, in Killing Floor you have immediate access to the entire level right from the start. Each level has indoor and outdoor areas and it's up to you to decide what the best place to defend is. Enemies come in waves that get bigger with each progressive wave. Each level has several waves, that vary based on difficulty and user preferences.

In between waves, the group has a certain amount of time to purchase new weapons and ammo from the trader. To spice things up a bit, the trader is in a different location after each wave. Once all waves have been completed, your group faces the Patriarch, the baddest zombie around. He employs a minigun, rocket launcher, brutal melee weapons, and a ton of health.

I might check it out.  I was hoping it was more like L4D.

I got to the point where on the hardest setting, L4D is just too easy and I know it too well, but I still love that feeling of running to the safe room while popping a few infected in the head or running back when one of the guys got jumped.  The feeling or rushing, not just defending, is awesome.

Well, there does tend to be a lot of rushing on the harder difficulty levels when everyone's trying to get to the trader before she closes up shop.

Basically sounds like Gears of War 2 Horde mode (which is a good thing).

Man it feels good to once again play a game where you earn money for no discernable reason, and then spend that money round to round.

Best progression system of all time.
