Does this make me a condescending asshole?
« on: December 07, 2006, 09:14:39 PM »
Okay, most of my friends and girlfriends have like 19 inch tv's and play movies out of their ps2's.  Not to mention, most of them live with their parents.  So whenever we talk about watching movies together, I always try to do it at my house.

I mean, I'm sorry, but after seeing an upscaled DVD on a big screen with 5.1 surround sound, I can't fucking go watch a movie on a 19 inch tv.  I can't do it.  I hate it.  Not to mention, since most of them live with their parents, I have to deal with their parents/siblings talking during the movie.  Or if I'm with a girl and we watch a movie at her house and she lives with her parents, I can't even rub on some boobs during the movie.  Nothing is better than titties and a good movie.  Nothing.

Does this make me an asshole?  My friend says it does.  But shit, even half of my friends will say "Let's watch it at Edward's!"  So I can't be alone.  I mean, I'll watch movies at their houses, but most of the time I'm thinking, "Fuck, this sucks."

I'm an a-hole.

Not at all, sir. I'd love to have a friend like you who's willing to have everyone over to watch a movie on his awesome home theater.   :P

You're not an asshole for wanting to watch movies on the gear you paid for.  However, you might be handling situations where you can't like an asshole.  But fuck them, they have shitty toys anyway.

Of course!

:lol  Nah, I'm always very nice about it.  Usually, unless there's a legitimate reason why it has to be at their house, I always just say something like "Why don't we go back to my place?  I have a lot more space." or something along those lines.

I can totally understand your situation.  I've owned an HDTV for over 3 years now, and it really is annoying have to watch a movie at someone's house, on their 27inch SDTV now.

Luckily most of my friends now own HDTVs as well.  :)

You guys all just made me feel better.  I told my friend that all my friends from my forum said it didn't make me an asshole and she called me a loser.  I called her a dirty whore.
