This is definitely worth picking up for $20, it's a damn steal. I paid much more than that for the Japanese version and have no regrets.

You're getting three excellent games, with an insane amount of attention to detail and customization options to make the game look perfect no matter what your setup is. The games themselves are extremely deep and full of secrets that most people probably won't be aware of, but the hardcore score attackers can aim for.

Everyone needs to buy this to support Raiden 4's chances of a Stateside release, it's another great game.

I don't want to make a separate thread so I'll just post in here:

I bought the Raiden MK-II from Aces for Raiden IV for a buck and it's waaaaaay better than the Raiden IV ship. What I loved about Aces and why it's my favorite X360 shmup is how there were tons of ships with their own unique attacks. Then in Raiden IV you have ONE SHIP and it's 3 attacks for the different colors. So it's worth $1 (or $2 if you want the Fairy) for the MK-II ship. The MK-II's version of the red/blue/purple are way better and can be upgraded to a lot higher levels. The Raiden IV ship caps out at 4 levels, but the MK-II goes like 8 or something.

BUT the game is waaaay harder because the bomb is not instant. It's like in Aces where you drop it and then 1-2 seconds later it blows up in a circle bomb ahead of you in one spot and only stops the bullets going into it. OTOH Raiden IV ship has instant screen clearing bomb so you can use it like RIGHT when you are about to get hit as a last minute save. Can't do that with the MK-II ;_; Otherwise it would be perfect and I'd never use the Raiden IV ship again.

I think most people who like shmups are buying it since it's so cheap. Dunno if that's enough people to finance their company though.

Also, after rounding out the achievements I can do in Raiden IV, I gotta say Aces is sooooooo much better. IV is better than III, but that's not hard to do. I don't think I'll ever play IV again now that I'm done with achievements. Will just stick to Aces which rocks.

Woah, congrats, 50 mil is definitely no easy task for most people.

I think that Jet is the easiest to score high in from what I remember. It's too bad you guys didn't get the Superplay DVD since it shows you a lot of scoring secrets, there's a ton of bonuses hidden in each level that'll help drive your score up.

raiden fighters does it differently. you can play it "locally" and it only saves to a local leaderboard, or you can play "online" which saves to an online leaderboard.

also, it didnt save because i didnt let the clock run out, i just exited the game.

The reason is for consistency. When you play an Xbox LIVE ranking game, it automatically goes to the default options and only gives you one credit to get a high score, every single player going for the leaderboards has this condition, so it's fair. In the normal mode, you can modify a ton of options, and someone scoring 50mil on easy difficulty with max default lives isn't as impressive as someone doing the same on the default settings. It would be too unfair if the leaderboards were mixed like this. After you get good enough at the game you'll probably just spend all of your time on the ranking mode anyway.

The achievement only unlocks on Normal difficulty or higher, so dont get it twisted. No easy for this guy. You also cant change the # of lives, but you can change the # of credits - not that it matters, since score resets when you game over.

Right, just speaking in general. I haven't played the game in awhile so I don't really remember too many details about the achievements or options, but it's good to know it won't unlock unless you're on normal. I always set it to arcade for everything and never changed it, which I guess is helpful since then when I would do a ranking run it would be much easier to deal with on normal, heh.

I think almost all of the 360 shooters have a special mode for internet ranking, or will invalidate your score if you mess with the default options.
