I'm more offended by the Marilyn Manson usage, but I thought the awkward sex scene deserved a mention, especially since Bioware now (I guess) has a rep for that sort of thing.

I'm genuinely surprised that Marilyn Manson is still around, let alone still popular, but I couldn't have guessed what artist that was without you telling me. Sounds like everything else. At least use fucking Bolt Thrower or something.

Anyway, I'm not saying that it isn't shit, but reading some of the reactions on other boards, knowing the shit these clowns typically salivate over and making an educated guess that their sex scenes probably look a hell of a lot more nerdkward even than that (not to mention that all of them probably secretly wish it was a fantasy chick they were banging), it's a bit funny.

More games need sex scenes to help solidify the belief that all game designers are nerdy virgins who learned the motions from Fabio book covers. Bioware actually went out of their way this time to show off their inability to make one.

from what I've read it sounds...interesting. It seems like it's more of a single player with a bunch of other people running around doing their thing. I'm about as interested in it as I am with most MMO games, which isn't a lot, but I always hope to be convinced. Borderlands, The Agency, DC Universe and Old Republic all look pretty interesting.

Fable 2 catches a lot of flak for its simplistic relationship system, but I have to say that it feels more natural and realistic than any other attempt at including sex and relationships into a game.

Okay, I was being a bit facetious there. It does have more depth to it than what you get in most RPGs, where there's usually none at all or it's very limited. Although, I do think it was handled relatively well in Mass Effect, in that it took the entire game to develop a relationship with one of the other crew members and depended entirely on how you interacted with them.

I like the way The Witcher handles the sort of thing.

I guess what I was getting at was that the simplicity and ridiculousness of it somehow makes it feel more natural than more ambitious efforts. Relationships are goofy more often than they are epic. Or something.

It's mostly because of Baldur's Gate I and II, which were really good RPGs (though I'm one of those odd people that liked the first game over the second). Unfortunately none of the games they have made after that even come close to capturing what those two had. Someone really needs to find a way to put those games on Steam so I can play them on whim.

I was kinda interested in this when I heard Bioware wanted to do a game with a story in the vein of A Song of Ice and Fire. Meh, the gameplay pics didn't look bad, but everything else looks suspect. I'll give it a chance tho

I simply hate any kind of "romances" in game. I was kind of fine with them in silly jRPGs (jRPGs are by definition silly) but BioWare brought them to wRPGs. I smh'd when I went to bed with that alien chick in ME.

This is exactly where the love comes from. I called in sick to work once and spent 12 hours playing BG2. Though I think it's more the Black Isle connection than Bioware. I mean, Planescape Torment was just sick.

I can agree that Witcher has better art direction, but neither is particularly stellar. Mass Effect rapes both games on the art side of things. The budget of a game should not change the way one views the results. I suppose, in this case, The Witcher has an excuse for its poor quality animation (low budget) while Dragon Age is just sad. Neither one deserves praise in that regard.
