I got interested because of some other more heavy rock/metal-ish songs like The Gargoyle and Silence Followed by a Deafening Roar, and am getting used to his more straight rock now. I think Yngwie & EVH are two of his biggest influences so you get a funny mix between rock and shred metal.

Plus some of his lessons on Youtube have really kick-started my playing again. I think it's the first time in my life I've got any practical ideas from a guitar guru instructional DVD thing.

I was actually looking at that and lensrentals.com. Hopefully I land this job I semi-interviewed for then renting lenses would be viable. Renting a $1200 lens for $80

Well not yet, I got that used Jackson for cheap (from the mid 90's pre fender) but not a USA soloist.

There's this used USA Jackson KV2 at Guitar Center in NYC that makes me hard so I might get that. I mean I have to sell my guitars but I'm gonna get them set up this weekend.

New, used guitar is awesome though.

Offset dot inlay is one of my faves

If I get another guitar it'll be a custom (because in Australia retail prices have gone insane) and I'm thinking of going with an offset dot inlay.

Nice, my personal fav is the sharktooth inlays. This is what the used guitar looks like that's at Guitar Center, same color scheme too.

That new Parker I had given to me has a blank fretboard, which is kind of nice in a minimalist sort of way.

What's kiling me now is that none of my current guitars have a floating tremolo. I'm really starting to miss that.

Being the 20th Century Boys (it's awesome!) fiend that I am, I decided I need more Naoki Urasawa in my life. Not sure what to make of this so far, but I am only around 50 pages in. Wish 20th Century Boys didn't have to be bi-monthly.

I've always been into Ibanez Jems and Universes which generally have fancy inlays, so nowadays I'm gravitating towards minimalist inlays for a change of pace. But I like sharktooths, and Ibanez have started doing this type in recent years which I quite like:

There's something really nice about a big uninterrupted slab of fretboard. It's kind of rare on electrics.

All my guitars have a floating trem. I never thought I could live without them but maybe I'll consider a fixed next time around especially as I'm going on a Paul Gilbert bender and he plays fixed.

Trems are great for dive bombs and squeals but other than that they're a pain. I don't like changing strings normally but on a floyd, ugh. $:-\$

I had $15 in Best Buy Reward Zone certificates, but when I originally used them the gal didn't know how to ring them up, so she rang them up as "vendor coupons." Since she did this, they were never "redeemed," according to the system. Just used them again to get a free CD.

It's the weekend again!

I picked this up today with some pre-birthday cash.

Toshiba 19AV600U 19" LCD HDTV

Got it to use as a secondary "monitor" for gaming crap, mainly. I love my 1080p Asus monitor, but any game systems apart from the 360 and PS3 look horrid on it. It also doesn't seem to "like" playing PS1/PS2 games on the PS3; they just don't look as good upscaled on it or look unplayably-ugly, so enter the smaller, secondary TV. Kinda a pain in the ass to keep hooking up the PS3 to two different monitors, but I haven't gotten everything set up yet. Will probably just use it for the PSP, Wii, and PS2 for the time being, and the 360 or PS3 when the main monitor is in use for something else.

I wanted to use this as a third monitor with my laptop, but there seems to be no easy (or cheap) way to use two dual monitors with a MacBook. Since I'm gonna be getting a desktop pretty soon anyway, it doesn't really matter.

Is anyone going to buy Downfall? The new indie horror adventure written in AGS? It's $10 and DRM-free. I'm tempted because it reminds me of the setting of Trilby's Notes with it being gory horror story set in a hotel. But sometimes gory indie stuff can go too far and be all style and no substance like most slasher films.

I didn't have much of a problem playing PS2 games upscaled on the PS3 on the TVs and monitors I used in Japan. It's the Asus monitor I got back in the States that did this for the first time, and on top of that, the monitor's component input is basically worthless. Stuff just looks awful.

I have an older Samsung SDTV from 2003 that does 480p and has widescreen options, but it looks a hell of a lot worse than I remember it being. Stuff isn't as sharp and the Wii also doesn't fit the screen properly. So I wanted to get something relatively cheap to use an alternative. The Toshiba seems to be working nicely.

I've just recently began to hear and realize how much of a crappy tone I get out if this guitar. But could it be the pickups? For example if I play this..

...I get a really awful messy distorted sound. Same goes for similar p.chords(?) and the like. And it just feels like I have a crappy overall tone. Will changing pickups (I got crappy Ibanez stock pickups) really improve my sound drastically or is the because I play on a solid state amp? Then there's also the issue of my guitar being poorly set up :'(
