Looks hot.

lulz at the distinguished mentally-challenged fellows dissing the graphics, saying that the snow almost doesn't have any textures.

The problem with snow in COD is that it has too much texture. The whole of the Russian campaign in COD2 was like a bad joke in terms of how the environment was presented, and I doubt IW even knows how to improve that. So expect more landscapes drenched in concrete.

While Modern Warfare 2 shares a basic formula with its predecessor, it is grossly unfair to assume the game is merely a set of new content wrapped around an old infrastructure

uh, no, i think it's entirely fair to assume that

It doesn't matter if the game plays like the old one, it matters that the experience feels new.

This whole mindset that gamers have about new games needing new weird game changing game features is distinguished mentally-challenged.

Eel, you gotta admit that those pics are pretty impressive if they're showing real time graphics.

Killzone 2 owned by a multiplatform game?

COD4 promo shots were also curiously impressive. Not that this looks like anything special, but hey, at least we get snow textures.

The fact that they are just attempting to eliminate infinite respawns is sort of cute. Great MP, shit SP confirmed.

If the action setpieces and the story and characters and environments are different, then it is a different game from COD4.

Shit, apparently the game is gonna have Rio de Janeiro as a setting in a part of the story. That's awesome.

What's with the name? No Call of Duty attached? That seems a bit odd seeing how anything called CoD sells shitloads.

Activision thought they could just split it into another franchise. See, they just didn't think they were milking the COD name enough, and they could do more, so in the future they will be able to do yearly installments of COD, and yearly installments of Modern Warfare along with all the spin offs.

Unless they ruin the multiplayer, I'll buy this.

If they manage to make an enjoyable single player campaign, that's a bonus.  The spec op mode sounds cool because they compared it to the best part of CoD4, uh, Modern Warfare 1.

Since they are including a specific Special Ops mode, they had better work on the player abilities at least in that mode. Otherwise I'll just stick with Rainbow Six.

The article makes it sound like most areas won't have infinite respawns.  BTW, the weird thing about COD2's snow was the bump-mapping and it doesn't look like they did that with this game.

Apparently there's a video (15 seconds):

Yeah well, IW also claimed that COD4 had no infinite respawns. I'll just consider this a total lie until there's some evidence to the contrary.

Mile High Club was not that good.  I don't know what you guys were talking about.  Run down a small hallway pew pew open door pew pew up staircase pew pew over.

Yeah well, IW also claimed that COD4 had no infinite respawns. I'll just consider this a total lie until there's some evidence to the contrary.

It technically didn't.  There were just 30 waves of 20 enemies each or something at parts.  Which is basically the same thing, but technically they didn't lie.

come on these are obvious bullshots just like in 2007 with the Call of Duty 4 reveal

get ready for something that looks about 4-5 times less good in glorious 600p when you actually get your hands on it

Mile High Club was kind of fun, but after the credits and after waiting for the game to be over, it was also annoying.  Then comes the "that part was awesome....WHY WASN'T THERE MORE SHIT LIKE THAT IN THE MAIN GAME???" feeling.  After playing some repetitive ass shit, minus the sniper missions, they finally give you variety for the first time in the entire fucking series.

that's why it was awesome.  It felt like a light gun shooter or target practice where you just focused on aiming fast and accurately.  No grenades raping you in the butt hole or respawning cunt enemies that fire on your from all sides.  You run through and take care of business fast and efficiently.  It was the one time in the game where pure linearity and lack of AI was a good thing; it basically took all the weaknesses of the game and made them fun.

errr resolution is very important dude, especially considering that many of us have 1080p HDTVs and the upscaling of lesser resolutions looks like ass on them

it's the main reason why I never play any multiplatform game on a console now

yeah having a 60 FPS game is cool but 60 FPS was practically the norm last gen, and if you have to sacrifice resolution in order to reach it then it plain ain't cool

errr, that's like precisely what I was saying

I even have a DVI to HDMI cable going from my PC to my Bravia

you get twice the pixel count and it's pretty mindblowing, it's hard to go back to 30 FPS console games with crappy textures now  :lol

This is a fucking multiplayer franchise.  If it's 20% within the range of HD, it's fine.  The only problem I have is that the gun models look a little funky.  Like they're too close to the screen.

Now me, when I say it. I mean not only is it technically true from a script point of view, but it's also true from a gameplay point of view. Not only are they not scripted to infinitely spawn till you move up, but the average user will never feel like it either.

Our designers have been introducing some awesome inspirations for the player to keep moving forward, and advance via visual, audio, and objective cues in place of any never ending monster closets.
