Foods that have changed for the worse (junk or otherwise)
« on: May 13, 2009, 01:51:29 AM »
Reese's Peanut Butter Cups - They weren't quite as oily in the old days. I also seem to remember the cups having a bottom. Now the bottom often gets stuck to the wrapper.

Nacho Cheese Doritos - They seem to have changed the recipe in the last decade or so. They're not as bad as the off-brand nacho chips, but they have a weird zing to them that puts the flavour off, ever-so-slightly.

Maybe the foods aren't different, but you are. Your sense of taste does change with age.

I used to love certain foods than I can no longer stomach. For instance, I no longer like Chef Boyardee, Big Macs, whoppers, sour cream and bacon chips, and fruit punch.

edit: actually, I no longer like regular Doritos either

I can't eat mcdonalds.  Used to love it when I was little but now I can't even walk into a restaurant without getting a vomit-burp taste in my mouth.

non-suger-free gum

things that I just lost a taste for are pretty much most fast foods and junk foods.  I feel like such a pussy for eating relatively healthy compared to how I used to.

I could tolerate McDonald's until about a month and a half ago, when I ate literally 6 (or was it 7?) cheeseburgers in downtown Munich in a 3 a.m. drunken fury that could only be fueled by 8 hours of boozing and chainsmoking beforehand. We then went to a strip club.

Anyway, long story short, I felt shittier from the McDonald's than from the booze, and my bathroom trips that day were interesting, to say the least.

Most sweets and junk food in general--potato chips, soda, sugary breakfast cereals, ice cream, and hard candy.   Like Malek said, most of these have probably remained unchanged, but I just don't have any appetite for them.

Agree with the bolded. I think I was still in my teens when I lost the taste for those.

While I wouldn't go out of my way to eat Burger King or McD's I find it tolerable enough as long as I stay away from the 'special sauces' and fake ass cheese.

I still genuinely enjoy Harvey's hamburgers. And, yeah, fast food prices are a joke (at least here in Canada).

I ate that Chicken Biscuit breakfast thing at McDonalds this morning. Holy shit, the chicken has no flavor at all. It just tastes like one huge biscuit, freaked me out.

I thought I noticed this, but I wasn't sure if I was imagining things.  The change happened two to four years ago, I think. It's a shame.  :'(

I feel like 15 years ago when Pizza Hut was more of a restaurant than a delivery/carryout chain, the pizza was killer. Just second to none. Crispy where it needed to be, soft where it needed to be, and with the bangingest toppings in the land.

Nowadays, utter garbage. Worst of the big three chains.

also, hardee's changed up their hot ham 'n' cheese years ago, going from a simple and delicious thinly sliced juicy ham and cheese on a bun to a lettuce/tomato/mayo monstrosity on a hard sub roll

both hardee's and heinz have since seen the error of their ways and reversed course

Tim Tam Slam is for bogans (rednecks) it leaves your mouth dribbling with melted chocolate and screws up a good cup of coffee.

I still genuinely enjoy Harvey's hamburgers.

That's because Harvey's hamburger patties taste like meat, not sawdust mixed with groundbeef.
