Dumb people should generally be looked down on.  If they want to be forum martyrs for their causes, they'll do so and look even worse.  It's just better for them to find someplace else to go.  Dumb can be defined in a bunch of different ways, but the first test of stupidity comes from seeing if one really gives a crap about the icon system.  Bonus dumb points if it makes the person feel like they're part of some "nerd proletariat" being held down by the man.
