I think that taking time in life to travel around and really experience things outside of your everyday surroundings is pretty key.

I dunno, traveling works pretty well for me.  But then I don't hate myself, I just hate the lack of empty green fields and forests where I live.

Well that's not what I'm getting at exactly.  He said that doctors don't have similar interests than him generally and obviously if you're personality is totally different than your coworkers, it'll at least be a little annoying having to interact with them.

they love you in high wage jobs, as well. you still need to meet the minimum qualifications bar, of course, but even the previously hired uggos and nerds will let you off the hook during interviews if you're a handsome lad and can perform at the average; and if you're a fine-lookin' lady -- WELCOME TO MANAGEMENT

Maybe good looking people do make better managers, all things being equal. I seem to recall studies where mock juries judged attractive witnesses to be more trustworthy and believable than unattractive witnesses. Generalizing from these studies, maybe emploees are more likely to trust and listen to their attractive bosses.
