It looks incredible. The best part is that the creature has wings that haven't fully grown, kinda implying that it's also a child, but also makes you think that at one point in the game it will grow them and you can fly. Or it could just be a massive cock tease.

I wonder how old the trailer actually is, though.

It looks like early CG or something but with weird things going on. Flickering textures, wonky looking models.

Why can't it? It's not like there's ever a lot going on in their games. It's always a tiny main character and a big creature/big environments.

nope, it should look a good bit better. It's all down to art and direction, there's nothing in that trailer that the PS3 is way beyond handling.

I still haven't played SotC because I'm hoping it'll be emulated at 30+ fps (maybe it already is, I don't keep up with PS2 emu scene).

Too bad it has to be on the PS3. It would probably be a lot better with the Wiimote, maybe use the pointer to direct the cat-thing.

Looks...odd. Like, the visuals are impressive, but the main character is very strange looking (like concept CG stuff). Don't like his design. Furthermore, what's with the Miller's Crossing music? It seems strange to me that Ueda would use music from an old Coen brothers film in a trailer for this game when you consider how amazing the original music for ICO and SotC was.

Wow. Oh my god. That was the videogame event of the year right there for me. I tear'd up a bit :'(

The music was amazing. This will be another incredible and powerful soundtrack like SotC. The story of a boy and his cute cat monster giant thing looks like it will be really touching and original. I hope the cat monster giant thing doesn't die like Aggro ;_; It's really, really tough to design a giant cat monster thing to be just right so it looks cute and you care about it, but man did they nail that design. I already don't want it to die ;_;. The concept of coop platforming but instead of being like Ico with a human helper, you get a GIANT THING helper is great as it doesn't feel like an Ico/SotC retread in gameplay concept. They really were able to find the 3rd pillar.

Fuck, so good. So good. 2022 can't come soon enough.

lol. Wtffff, letdown total. I'm sure it'll have a good score but I thought that was proof it already was. Damn. At least he took it from one of the best movies ever made

PS. I kind of like how the framerate and animation resemble Ico and SotC. Makes it feel like one of those games. A perfect 60fps would be too "normal".

I know it's silly, but SotC is only game where I feel the framerate is part of what gives it the art look and I would never want to play it without the janky framerate.

Yes, I am a Team Ico whore. I bought the Japanese version of Ico and played through it again just because it had TWO NEW PUZZLES and some extras when you beat the game, lol. I also read a good deal of the Ico book and listen to the SotC soundtrack all the time (which I paid real money for!).

apparently the video is more than a year old and was just meant to be internal test footage with the Miller's Crossing music as placeholder.

I kinda hope that in the final they stick with a similar look for the kid, just refined and not so flat. It reminds me of Turn-A Gundam.

Nope, he's freelance. Does some anime and a lot of live action Japanese films. But after the fantastic job he did on SotC, I can't imagine why they wouldn't want to work with him again.

Man, I hope this isn't like the SotC internal Nico video where the final game is nothing like the video. Unlike Nico which looked kinda iffy with the whole multiplayer aspect, this looks PERFECT. This is the game I want to play. So I really hope they don't change much.

I don't mind if they change the look of the kid but they better not change the cat thing. It looks amazing right now and I don't want anything else.

The kid just looks like the son of the kid in Ico.

It's not a technical thing. Nico was doable on PS2, but SotC ended up a very different game concept.

I'm guessing since this Trico vid is a year old already the real Trico will show up at E3 or TGS this year and release towards the end of 2010. So we should know sometime not too distant if the concept is still the same.

Does anyone remember when those Nico pics first leaked in comparison to the TGS where SotC was first revealed?

art style, sure, it'll probably look very close to that

but the little touches like the rocks crumbling off the edge of the stone ledges, the myriad facial expressions of the kid, and the fur/feathers on the creature constantly moving will all be absent from the final game

there is no way the characters will move as fluidly as they are animated in that trailer

Team ICO has never relied on such things, though. All of the early footage of ICO and SotC was realtime (outside of the PSX CG stuff). Why wouldn't this be? It has that same early, rough look as the early ICO and SotC footage.
