I went to Whataburger after work today, and got the Honey BBQ Chicken Sandwich (it was awesome, btw, but IMO still not as good as just their regular burgers). It took less than 5 minutes to get it out, but when they came to my table (yeah, they bring your burger out to you) the lady was like "OMG, I'm sorry it took so long, we were making some more chicken" and I was like "No problem" because I didn't realize that five minutes was a long time. I've waited for like 45 minutes for a burger at that crap-hole Carl's Jr. Then she's like "We can offer you a fried pie to make up for it" and I was stunned for a minute because it's just so shocking that a fast-food restaurant would actually give you something for free for having to wait 5 minutes. Of course, I wasn't going to turn it down, so I told her that a peach pie would be great. Not only did they bring that out to my table to, but since they weren't too busy, they came out and got refills and extra napkins/ketchup for everyone too.
While I was there, I was just kinda looking around, and I realized that everyone there was at least as old as I was. Whataburger doesn't have a Happy Meal so there are no screaming brats, and it isn't very hip so there are no douchebag teens eithers. It's just a place where a grown-ass man can get a great, unpretentious burger and actually maintain some degree of dignity in the process. It's great.
