Heavy Rain or Heavy Downgrade?
« on: May 21, 2009, 09:54:58 PM »
This was one of my most anticipated games, so WHAT THE FUCK? Are those really Max Payne 2 level character models? What's up with the shitty ass glasses? Is this a matrix game? what

And the .45? Really? I fucking hate that gun. I hope that GTTV footage has something special, because this is one big pile of shit.

Yeah, those shots look pretty... average. I'm kinda stunned that some people think those shots are somehow the best looking console graphics ever, or that "THE SKIN TEXTURE IS THE BEST I'VE EVER SEEN."

Who the hell said that about THOSE shots?

It doesn't look too hot, technically, but I still think what is present in those shots could be interesting.

It's almost a shame this is going to be PS3 exclusive simply because it will bring lots of hate along with it.  :(  Even if it is a step down from what they were showing before, I still think it could be a really incredible experience just based on the work they've done in the past (both Omikron and Fahrenheit).

What the fuck is this shit? Gaf?

That screams sdf "world against us" kind of shit. One of the problems with these images, are the horrible textures and lightning.

Why does he have ONE glove on in the last screen?

Apparently the glove and glasses are some high tech CSI on the fly shit. I know, super cheesy.

The game sounds pretty awesome for what it is, but yeah, those screens don't look that great.  It reminds me of Max Payne 2 meets Frame City Killer with nice skin textures.  Though, if it does have nice animation, especially facial animation, then I would think differently about it.

Can't believe this game is getting so hyped

I wasn't excited until I read that the "game" has so many ways it can resolve itself.  If you die in one story line, that will affect and change another.  If you fuck up and die, you're dead and the story will continue with that character dead.  If the next time you play you survived, then the story will be different than the previous game where you died.  I will support any game that makes the player undergo the consequences of his/her actions.

Needs more tears.

If they really learned their lessons from Fahrenheit this could be awesome.  I think it's pretty dangerous to hype it as guaranteed awesome though.

If people aren't being sarcastic, between you two and dark1x supporting Inidog/Farenheit I think I may have to leave this forum to get away from the CRAZY SUCKAS who thought flying in the air doing matrix fights with QTEs = good game.

Indigo started out good and devolved into one of the worst games I've ever played.  I'm not touching Heavy Rain with a 10 foot pole even if it had graphics you thought you were watching a snuff film.

Yeah, unfortunately that's how combat is going to be handled. It's a good thing though that combat isn't the main focus of the game, from what I can tell it's the investigation and path-choosing aspects.

Is it purely QTE, or a mix? I don't think I'll mind it much if it's a pure QTE affair, it's the mixed shit that tends to get on my nerves.

I saw the video that was on tv just now.  I thought it would be mostly QTE, but it had the guy walking around an area investigating things.  It looks like you control him.  The actual fighting they showed was basically God of War analog movements or button presses.  The neat part about context sensitive actions is that the button icon is relative to the thing you interact with.  Like, what button is the car door is over the car door at the time and things like that.  It's more integrated with the world and not just a button on the screen.

More like Heavy lol downgrade...
Faces look good, but everything else is lol

Story will either make or brake this game
Good interesting story=good game
Bad story=total fail

But at the end its probably going to end up like this:

Someone:"Game sucks,i don't like it"

Hardcore niche:"Stfu...you are to stupid to understand it,its art dude"

Looks better in motion, but nothing too great. Voice acting is absolute shit in the scene between the detective and the black dude.

I do like the Mahone from Prison Break rip off that the character is though, with the drug addiction thing. That's cool.

The investigation part of the trailer was cool and sorta promising if they include more of it, though I have to say the whole glasses thing is really silly in this ULTRA REALISTIC game.

Edit:

Just finished watching the entire segment. So they confirmed that the last trailer wasn't going to be in the game, what the fuck?!

This doesn't make any sense, since it looked really complete and fleshed out. Do they have that much free time on their hands? This is kinda worrying because this footage was subpar compared to that one. This is the second time they release something that does not demonstrate the actual game and story. Weird.

I think they meant the crying girl

I liked Farenheit. Sure, the stealth missions were horrible, but everything else aside from the supernatural shit was awesome in my book, until it jumped the shark and at that point you either were crazy enough to ride it or not.

I rode that shark all mighty.

Ok, I think I won't play Indigo. Start spoiling the story and twists of that bitch please.

Main dude kills this other dude in the bathroom of a restaurant. You have to escape as soon as you gain control.

Cops arrive. You investigate your own stuff.

You play guitar to your ex girlfriend, then you fuck her.

Black cop dude tells his gf to go take a hike with her complaining.

Suddenly main dude starts gaining super strenght and speed. Cops chase him, he owns them.

He searches for an explanation to his new found abilities and shit. Remembers shit from when he was a kid, parents were scientists. Utter shit stealth mission.

Apparently in a dimension beyond our own, a group of dickheads want something, and their weapon, this priest like voodoo dude is trying to create a door to tEh Oddaaa siiiideee, and the he possesses dudes to kill other dudes in order to open the door.

Lil girl becomes central to the plot. Don't remember why. Main dude dies, becomes walking dead, cold as ice. Saves the little girl, becomes Neo and starts wire fuing with the voodoo priest.

Flees with the girl and the female detective. Female detective fucks him, dead and cold, for no other reason than she's a slut.

This portal stone whatever opens in this factory where his parents used to work, and you have to press buttons really fast.

If you don't press buttons fast enough the world is invaded by electrical machines. If you are fast enough, then you impregnate that ho of a detective.

Oh that's right, it snows a lot during the game.

Considering the shit writing shown in the video, the total lack of judgment from Cage to hire appropriate voice actors, and the inclusion of that cheesy and lame "CSi lab in a glove and glasses to match" shit.......

I kinda wish they do have supernatural stuff in there, if you wanna go distinguished mentally-challenged fellow might as well go full mode.

the supernatural stuff didn't even bother me all that much in Indigo Prophecy even if at times it looked taken straight out of the Matrix sequels, I liked the scenes with that Mayan sorcerer and even the flashback scenes with stealth, and all the scenes with the big snowstorms, what I disliked however was how thin the epilogue was, and that awful Theory of a Deadman song at the end that felt completely out of place, wtf

but you got to admit that as far as atmosphere, interactivity and tension go Indigo Prophecy definitely had its moments of sheer brillance

what I remember reading is that Quantic Dream was outsourcing most of its assets to India, maybe that's why some character models and environments look a bit funny... I think we're going to see a whole lot more of that in the industry, it's the only way to counter the continuously rising cost of creating assets

but I don't think it takes away anything from the visual splendor of the game

but you got to admit that as far as atmosphere, interactivity and tension go Indigo Prophecy definitely had its moments of sheer brillance

I liked the way in which you only had limited time to choose your reactions in the game, granted it was far from the first game to use timed reactions to dialogue trees but the principle was used well

in the leaked gameplay demonstration with the girl infiltrating the taxidermist's house Cage was insisting that apart from combat reactions nothing was QTE'd, everything the character did was the result of real-time character control... he said that he wants to maintain the detached feel of an adventure game

I agree to a certain extent, it's nice to have a change from mindless button bashing from time to time

That sounds really neat.

I HATE when games make me look at the ground to find shit.  The dogtags in Gears is a good example - I was always looking at the damn ground when all the pretty stuff was up above.  Dead Space did it right with the indicators popping up showing you ammo is at your feet.
