Can someone please help me with my sound card?
« on: December 08, 2006, 05:19:47 PM »
My sound card is randomly unidentified by my computer. It works when I reboot, but then after awhile, I'll go to the sound settings and it says there's no card set up. It's wierd. If I reboot it works. It's totally random.

If I reboot it's just

:O

It's just what? HIMURRROOOOO

lol But yeah, if its a onboard sound? then try uninstalling then reinstalling the drivers. If its connected through the PCI, Uninstall the Drivers, check the PCI slot make sure the Slot is clean (free of dust) then reconnect it.

I had this problem with my Turtle Beach Montego DDL, I just checked if it was firmly pushed into the slot, reinstalled the drivers and hasn't happened again since.

Looks to be Onboard Audio. All I can tell you is to reinstall the Sound drivers and see what happens. There may be an app out there that helps with cleaning of device drivers that should be used.

uhhh onboard yuk. Well you have options. Go out and buy some cheap ass PCI soundcard (I recommend SBLive! or Audigy) and just fix the problem that way, oooooooor you could see if there are options in the bios regarding your onboard sound but that can mess stuff up if you dont know what youre looking for.

more specifically UNINSTALL the AC'97 drivers and install new ones -- sometimes, reinstalls clean up the old crap poorly.
