Nintendo is rehashing the Metroid Prime games.

At least $50 for all 3 games (even with inferior controls) is a good deal.

By Nintendo's standards it is.  They could have easily rereleased Prime 1 and 2 for 30 bucks each and an army of Ninthings would have ate it up.

I have to wonder if a dual layered disc is going to ruin load times. But yes, awesome news.I'm mostly interested because of prime 1, but there were things about Corruption I enjoyed.

I don't really see the appeal in pointer controls in MP1 and 2. MP3 changed the type of enemies you fought to make pointing worthwhile, and I enjoyed the other motion shit you could do like pulling shields off. In MP1 and 2 you'll be pointing at the ground, shooting bugs.

At least this isn't a blatant ripoff like the other bullshit port-ups. MP3 is still full price afaik.

No buy

BTW, MP2 sucks

I really liked Metroid Prime, but had no desire to play it again or the sequels. Dunno why. I'm not really in to first person games, and it pissed me off in this game that once you cleared a room and went back into it (which you do a lot) that the enemies regenerated. No feeling of reward when you went through some of these annoying fucking enemies.

yeah, but I really just want 2 so I can see if I ignored it because it was bad or because I had better games like Halo 2, MGS3 and San Andreas to play.  I enjoyed the first and third game.

2 sucks, don't even bother. It's nonstop fetchquests across two versions of the same fairly boring environments.

It's one thing to have to backtrack to get the Space Jump, it's another to have to repeatedly backtrack to find 3 magic keys to open a boss door.

I do remember the light world dark world thing.  I stopped playing when I just went to the dark world or something like that.  I don't remember if I hated it so much or if I just wanted to play the better games that came out.  I'll give it another shot on the Wii since I do think the MP3 controls are much better than the gamecube ones.

It had better all of those, yes, Borys, but the sum of its parts wasn't better than Metroid Prime's.  Regardless of all those things, you STILL had to collect a bunch of shit through tiresome methods.

2 is just boooooring. Prime is a little booring with great immersive qualities and catchy music. Corruption is probably the most fun but in the process shits on what Metroid is by adding stupid story elements and Shitty Friends.

Metroid Prime 1 was a great game.  Weird concepts that made the learning curve enormously high but the thought of adding waggle mechanics into it makes no sense.  It's my favorite game ever but I'll stick to the non-broken lamepube version.

Besides, there's nothing really to add to the combat as the enemy patterns would make it totally unintuitive to try and shoot them with a wiimote.  It's mainly an exploration type of game so this rehash is just nintendo gouging it's fanbase.

I cannot agree with you.

Echoes was everything that was good about Prime EXCEPT atmosphere and "OMG! IT'S METROID IN 3D" factor only 10 times better.

Much better boss fights, much better morphball puzzles (even morphball bosses!), better graphics and better music.

Honestly tell me that you didn't like Sanctuary Fortress or Quadraxis fight. Best moments of Echoes were easily better than best moments of Prime.

It was harder too. Prime even on hard mode with 3 tanks only run was easy. Echoes isn't.

I didn't get that far. I got up to the second or third time they made me backtrack for the purple keys and I dropped it. I think it was about 8 hours in or so.

I don't think you know what waggle is mang

This is not waggle, it's the pointer functionality, a HUUUUGE improvement over the well-working yet slow process of movement and aiming in the GCN version.

To fight even the most basic enemy in the first game you had to have pinpoint accuracy and the ability to do 180 degree turns.  The aiming mechanics were simple because they HAD to be, since the time window you had to hit any enemies was so small and because you had to be able to switch beam types and visor types so you couldn't react fast enough to use right stick aiming.  Corruption is totally since any enemy that actually tried to attack you just had a pretty simple circle-strafe patterns or something that you see in most shooting game bosses.

Trying to do any of the old boss battles with a wiimote will be a nightmare actually.  I liked 1 and 3 (didn't play 2) but they have totally different controls for a reason.

they don't play any differently other than having a freer window of perception in MP3.  You still lock on to enemies in MP3 for a reason.

MP is sort of like hard math homework. A problem might totally stomp you, making you move on to some other problem only to be stumped again. But when you finally "get it" your brain turns on and you blow through shit at crazy speeds, feeling totally exhilarated - before getting stuck again.

I never played MP3 but the first two really have some awesome parts in between annoying puzzles and minuscule, hidden areas of the environment that unlock shit.  :-\

It's the fact that you're basically getting two complete and generally considered fantastic games for free, and a third installment to boot.  Each two have a new control scheme that helps, not hinders, the gameplay.

I mean, if you already have the two before this, than yeah, why would you buy this?  Unless you're like me and wouldn't mind having them all on one disc.  I'll probably trade in each of the entries and put money down for this.

Free aiming doesn't actually add anything but not being able to easily change visors and beams is really bad.  Without the right combination of visors or beams, it's impossible to see or do any damage to certain enemies.  Especially for boss battles, using a wiimote just won't work at all.

I played the first one, thought it was really boring, didn't bother with the others... hopefully this re-release is to build up the anticipation for an amazing DS 2D Metroid extravaganza made by R&D1 or IntSys, but that's wishful thinking on my end.
