I did a little online, but I like career mode progression in racers where you unlock the tracks and cars a few at a time so you can enjoy all the content.

I'm finishing Tomb Raider Underworld. It's pretty awesome but I have no idea what's going on with the story.

There's like evil Seiphiroth Lady with wings and then Lara gets a hammer and then the Goth girl starts talking about giant serpents and starts throwing fireballs at golems and then cast members I'm wholly unfamiliar with start dying then Evil Lara comes out and everyone's like "Oh it's just Evil Lara" and now Zeus is coming out to kill everyone and I'm like "I have no idea what is going on here"

In 90 mins of Protoype, I think I spent 60 just holding the right trigger and running across the city from one point to another.

zzzz, back in the mail it goes.

I'm playing Tomb Raider Underworld on Master Survivalist difficulty and it's pretty great so far.  I'm in the beginning of the Thailand area in around an hour already though.

I'm not sure where the extra difficulty would apply. Platforming is the same no matter which way you cut it. I guess they just make the combat harder or something?

Underworld dishes out the cheevs like crazy, nothing like finishing a level and getting 100G

yeah, the enemies are a little harder to kill but there's not really much of a difference.  There's a few cheats in the game that make combat easier like making yourself bulletproof but shooting is such a small part of the game I guess because the cheats apparently don't disable achievements.

If TR: Underworld is an Achievement piñata, TR: Anniversary is like a piggy bank. So far I've got the level ones, and a weapon 'cheev or two, but I guess what kills me is it seems a bit hard to unlock the speed run; at least it hasn't been informing me that the speed run is available, half the time.

Started playing through Bourne Conspiracy for no good reason. It's a total QTE festival. Lots of in-game movies just moving from one area to another, OH HAI A BOMB (press A), now fight this guy (press Y), got enough Adrenaline? Kill all these guys by an extended QTE (press X, now A, now B). Hey, we have Achievements for engaging 200 of these QTEs. Great... ::)

It's highly scripted sequences that make me feel like I'm playing this generation's DRAGON'S LAIR.

Going back to BULLY now.

I was actually looking for my copy of Ico but couldn't find the thing so I settled on SOTC.  I hope I didn't lose it or accidently give it away - I can't remember seeing it in quite awhile.  I was looking online at the used market for Ico yesterday and it starts at $99 but maybe I should look locally.  If you don't mind me asking swaggaz, how much did you pay?

Frankly I just wish Sony would announce an Ico package similar to their God of War one, you know both games on one disc, 1080p, and a stable framerate.  I'd definitely be willing to double or triple dip for that.

starts at $39 used on amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00004YUWA/ref=sr_1_olp_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1253539759&sr=8-1

Sold.

Now watch as soon as it arrives in the mail I'll have found my other copy of the game laying around the house.

Ratchet & Clank 3 (UP YOUR ARSENAL)

Yesterday I almost finished the Annihilation Nation leaving only one challenge unbeaten - the two Gladiators with 23 waves of enemies (some timed) before them. Hard. UGH. I run out of ammo/ health fast. Can't seem to beat the last 2 Big Guys with the Whip :'(

Today I cleared the Aquapolis level and started the very Halo-like mission where you ride around in a buggy shooting shit.

This game rules :punch

All the R&C games are awesome, don't listen to the haters that would have you believe the Jak games ( :yuck ) are better.

R&C is more polished but the best parts of Jak are better than the best of R&C.  Unlike R&C, Jak actually has many levels that will challenge a gamer's platforming skills.  The higher focus on platforming elements in Jak led to more interesting level designs, from a gameplay perspective.

The Jak games' biggest problem was the crappy overworld that makes up 50% of the game.  Naughty Dog tries to impress us with how many NPCs they can put in a city but it was pointless since they all had stupid AI and just got in the way.

Ratchet is just good entertainment. You shoot robots, lots of them. With big guns. It's not a perfect format by any stretch, but it's always entertaining.

Anyway, currently playing MAG, trying to sort of experience it all before determining whether or not it's something I'll likely bother with in the future. They've done good, everything is in order and bigger than anything else, but it hasn't hooked me. I'll probably play some COD4 again later.

I can't really compare the Ratchet series because the only ones I played were Ratchet 1 (was boring and easy and shelved it a few hours in), Ratchet PSP (wasn't that great; not insomniac though), Ratchet PS3 (very fun, but shallow and easy), and QFB (sucked).  Everyone says 2/3 are where it's at so I can't really compare, but Jak 1/2 (never played 3) are way better than the Ratchet I have experienced simply because Jak platforming presents a challenge that requires skill and gives satisfaction and those Ratchet games don't.

I just started playing Fable II and I did the wood chopping job. ffs it is kind of laggy, which makes it difficult. Also, where are all the side missions? I did a few story missions and got a 100 point achievement, so I think it was a decent way into the campaign, but I've hardly found any sidemissions.

The GUI arc for /all/ of the jobs (bartender, woodchopper, blacksmith) is laggy as hell. I found that I just had to go by the character animation and a Hail Mary rather than trusting the actual gameplay mechanic.  :'(

The side jobs, don't they show up on your main game as an occasional notification, and while they're available, the Main Menu has them displayed, and means of auto-traveling to the nearest location to the NPC who assigns the work... no?

Jak platforming presents a challenge that requires skill and gives satisfaction and those Ratchet games don't.

Really? Because Jak 1 was super easy, and I remember precious little platforming in Jak 2 or 3. I know I spent at least twice as long driving those hovercrafts in Jak 2 than I did doing any platforming. There's one good platforming level in Jak 2 that I remember, and that was like 1 hour out of 20. I don't really remember any from Jak 3, but I remember driving that stupid dune buggy around forever to find jiggies out in the middle of the desert. As far as I'm concerned, that crap outweighs any good parts those two games might have had. Just give me a Shard Reaper and full clip of ammo, any day.

Well I will have to get them all (R&C games, Jak games and Sly games) in the end...

'a bit repetitive at times' is an understatement when it comes to Ratchet games. Going Commando was incredible and they proceeded to make carbon copies of that game in UYA and ToD. The latter was especially disappointing because you expect things to change somewhat when they took the series to the PS3. All they added was a jell-o platform shooter. I hope Crack in Time at least brings some new stuff to the table, because at this point Ratchet has become somewhat of a dead franchise to me.

The way I see the Sony Platformer Trio is like this:

Jak has the best highs and the worst lows. (2, 1, 3 is my order of preference here)
Ratchet is the most consistent but in that consistency it's a bit repetitive at times.  (3, 2, 1 here)
Sly tries hard but except for parts of the first one, the highs never go higher than Ratchet though the lows don't go lower than Jak's. (1, 2, 3 here)

If I was to compare the best in the series, I would say Sly 1 > Jak 1 > Ratchet 2.  If I compared the series as a whole, it would be Jak > Sly > Ratchet.  The Sly sequels still great, but not nearly as good as the first game.  (I'm not including spin offs of Jak and Ratchet like PSP games made by other devs)

The Agents of Doom weapon in R&C3 is the best weapon in a game EVER next to Painkiller's Stakegun. So fucking adorable and on LVL2 they sport mini laser cannons mounted on their tiny backs.
I always liked the Black Hole gun in UYA. My favorite Ratchet weapon was the bomb gun from Going Commando, which left a mushroom cloud

Sorry, bro, but 1024 x 768 isn't high-res anymore.   :P

Also, replace your 20 yr old CRT before getting a PS3.  Next gen is kinda pointless without a HDTV.

Fucking PS3/PSN. Fired up Warhawk, but was prompted to update it (to v 1.50). Alright, fair enough, it'd been a while since I played it. So I pressed X, the game shut down, and I got an error code saying that, well, an error occurred. Tried this three or four times, until I thought of disconnecting the USB charger from the controller. Incredibly, that worked.

I swear, basic interaction with this system sometimes reminds me of dealing with IRIX.

Been playing Battlefield: Bad Company. Pretty awesome game and it might actually become my favorite 360 shooter (at least single player campaign wise). Having near-entirely destructible environments really opens up how you play the game. Also, coming off Gears of War, its pretty nice to see a story competently told. Its not a good story mind you, but at least the game is telling me whats going on.

decent game, last level was fuck wow graphically but too short + same shooting shit.

from the uncharted 2 trailer the graphics look way much better and if it have more platforming then day one.

ODST Firefight, Mario and Luigi 3, FEAR 2 Reborn, and Ico

Tried Manhunt 2 PSP that was free, wasn't feeling it.

FEAR 2 Reborn was only $5 (normally $10) as a Steam deal.  The thing just came out a few weeks ago and I was thinking about picking it up, but $10 was too much.  Maybe it really didn't sell well, I don't know, but hopefully it's worth the $5.

Infamous and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Echos of Ohgodthistitleistoolongtoo

Infamous is pretty awesome, Echoes of Time is a big step down from Ring of Fates.

How is Rings of Fate.  I've had it since release and haven't even started it yet.  I picked it up because people were saying it's a good loot game.

Rings of Fate started off good but got quickly annoying. The AI companions are morans, enemies tend to be cheap, lots of slowdown, and using the materia is frustrating, especially when you have to cast 'clear' on invisible monsters all while micromanaging your team. It's over pretty quickly though and has some cool dungeon design and nice gfx and music.

still playing Monster Hunter Freedom Unite.

Once you can deal with the camera controls and its actually pretty alright and strangely addicting. Due to the combat system its still annoying fighting more than on enemy at a time though.

i'm so shit at MH games.  I just wish the action was faster and controls were more responsive.

Beat Uncharted 1.

decent game, last level was fuck wow graphically but too short + same shooting shit.

from the uncharted 2 trailer the graphics look way much better and if it have more platforming then day one.

I played through this for the first time last week.  Really enjoyed it; completely agree about the length and repetitive shooting, but the controls are good and it was pretty damn fun overall.  As a one-player game, I definitely enjoyed it more than I did Gears Of War.

i could see why you will enjoy it more as a single player compared to gears but the controls just didn't click with me.

in any case it made me go from not bothering with uncharted 2 due to rabid sfags to day one.
