nisa - forever to be known as the company that started because a single game sold about 140k.

a number they hilariously have never come close to reaching themselves

 :maf :maf :maf

Sales-aside there are quite a few GREAT N1 games over the years.  Disgaea 1, Makai Kingdom, Prinny, Zettai Hero, Soul Nomad, Classic Dungeon.  It's sad they can't get sales because they actually make pretty good games.  I import every game they make even though I don't have the time to play them anymore just to support a truly good company doing its best to survive.  Already have 100 Witch thing on pre-order (plus it's Prinny team so it might actually be kind of good).  Their portable versions on PSP/Vita are also really quality works filled with full expansion pack worth of content each time.

It makes me mad when people diss on N1 when the head dude is someone who loves videogames and is doing his best to create quality software while still pandering a little (and thus spitting out endless Disgaea games) to keep his employees employed.

tales of graces? more like tales of every character in this game is an insufferable prick, this is the sort of stuff that makes me traverse the dark alleyway of loli rpg's

anyway the rest of the game is solid,i was getting bored out of my mind in the prologue but once you get out of it,dungeon starts to appear and combat stop sucking,i really like the titles system because it reward you for every little shit you do

Dropping Monster Hunter 3U for a bit for some Sims 2 time. Getting heavy into neighborhood and house design.

Some doozies from modthesims.

Lot design:

Neighborhood design is the most inspirational. It is literally a micro size version of Sim City. Take a Sim City 4 layout (comes in game) and layout your roads, homes, and shops like you would Sim City.

Zoning and planning pre-stage

Adding Flora and Fauna

Old district of neighborhood w/ details added

More details, a train, a capsized ship...

Shot of the horizon:

Fucking awesome beach hood. I want to do this so bad.

She's got an airport and shit.

sounds like you're playing a tales game, alright

the main character is a guy called asbel, the game start as he's a kid and the whole things is basicaly "OMG DAD WHY YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND ME! " then he grows up and his father dies and he's like "OMG DAD WHY I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND YOU " his closest pal is a girl called cherie and she spends most of the time being mopey and "war is a terrible thing " in vesperia the hero kills a minor villain and everybody is cool with it in the most progressive thing to ever happen in an rpg,in this game they kill a giant slime and after that there is a skit about how "if we never got across this cavern that giant slime would still be alive " then there is his brother, his father give him away to some family so when he comes back he's all like "THERE IS ONLY ONE SON IN THIS FAMILY " then there is some mysterious girl called sophie which somehow dies and resurrect and act all alien-like,it's pretty obvious she's some bullshit like a ghost or the will of the planet or an alien but the hero is too dumb to make any sort of independent tought so half of the dialogue goes like "YOU REALLY REMIND ME OF THIS GIRL THAT DIED SEVEN YEARS AGO " the last character is another girl called pascal and she's the best character because she doesn't have any sort of mopey drama to carry on,though i fear that's probably going to be a temporary thing

uggh! i took a trip to wikipedia and it had the whole plot of the thing and i ended up reading it even if i didn't want and ehy! i guessed the whole plot of the game only 3 hours in! i'm a genius or what?
anyway i'm not sure i will continue, the combat is fun but the rest of the game is not, between the dull enviroment and the stupid character, the times i'm groaning in boredom beat the times i'm actualy enjoying myself... there are times where you are just walking back and forth between place you already visit just so that you end up collecting cutscene's,of course it wouldn't be so bad if the dialogue didn't consist of the most trite jrpg drama you have ever seen, there is one cutscene where two character challenge each other between who's going to protect who,"i'm going to protect you" says one "no! i'm going to protect you!" reply the other... that's how bad it is

i know different tales games are handled between different team and that some of them consist of monkey's and other do not but it's hard to believe this is even vaguely related to vesperia

Bomberman Legacy on PSP.  I was a big taco for the old school single player mode Bomberman games.  This is a pretty good entry although does not touch my favorites (94, Super 3, Super 5, and Saturn).  Decent level structure but the way it handles items is a little weird.  Playing it on my Vita.

Fired up American McGee's Alice: Madness Returns, and installed the original A McG's Alice, which is included as free DLC if you've purchased a new copy of the game.

I'd wanted to play the original for a long time; I've had the PC disc forever, but never got around to it. See also the Battlezone remakes and the Blade Runner adventure game for additional cases of my passionate inaction. Alice has a soundtrack by Tweaker (Chris Vrenna) which is superb.

Sadly, the original game is not particularly playable. I don't think it's one of those "doesn't stand the test of time" problems, as much as it is a PC game with mouselook controls implemented spastically on a controller, so it's difficult to aim and throw the dagger which is Alice's first weapon. Oddly, it is even more difficult to use the dagger in hand-to-hand combat, mainly because there is very little denoting a hit-reaction on the enemies. So, yeah, I waited too long to play this.

The main game seems like a very standard this- or last-gen action/platformer. There's a Shrink ability which grants a Vision Mode, a variation on the ubiquitous Double-Jump, several upgradable weapons, and a set of enemies which are largely boring, but get more interesting or annoying depending on the combinations in which they're used.

The game's world is largely both epic and gorgeous, which serves to point out just how mediocre the character models and animation are.

Friends of mine are enamored of one of the old SNES versions; they played it off some devkit ROM board endlessly, and had a whole culture built up around the perfection of the 4-player game.

Sadly, the only version I've owned is the XBLA edition, developed by Backbone Entertainment. It's not particularly fun, and I'm not sure why. Have you ever tried that one? Or is this a useless question for a fan of the singleplayer game?

In The Sims 2 I'm playing the entire town, haha. At least 20-22 sims. Really great storyline going on now. Considered making the aliens estranged from the rest of the town to the point where they felt like they didn't belong but nawwww it's funner to make them blend in and only have Buzz/Tank hate fuck the aliens with their feud. Johnny keeps knocking over the Grunt house trash can and Tank keeps crashing Johnny's parties. I want a happy ending for Nervous Subject, he has a hard life so I'm trying to have him move out of his adopted home and move in with his mother before she dies. Considering merging Pleasantview sims in with Strangetown because Strangetown's population dwindles after about 2-3 generations due to limited gene pool. Plus, that'll give Mortimer Goth the opportunity to be reunited with his lost wife, Bella. Hmmmmmm.

Beat DONTE THE DEMUN KILLUH -- I really enjoyed it, as usual. For some reason I cannot get the controls wrapped around my head. I always find myself fucking up in the midst of battle, especially when involving the enemies that require a certain color.

Starting Son of Sparda run now, I'll get the hang of it.

I played (and finished) The Starship Damrey which is a tiny eShop title for the 3DS.

You play a character who awakes in a cryosleep pod which will not open and you must control a robot to traverse the darkened halls of a starship to figure out how to escape.

It's a super interesting premise. However the game is very simple and relies on some fairly basic puzzles. There were only 2 puzzles that stumped me for a decent amount of time.

The first 10 minutes of the game are really cool though, you are attempting to load into the OS of your computer system even though it's corrupted. There's some really cool ideas there however once that's done you never return to it and that's super disappointing.

Fun for what it is. Worth a try if you're bored. It's only 8 bucks.

decided to play atelier rorona properly so i can do totori next because the character in atelier games don't whine about war every 5 seconds

also been dicking more around reus, once again i think guys that like sandboxy games (himuro?) should really check this out,i finished the first game with around 5 village and a total prosperity of around 300,i tried starting a new game by focusing all my effort into a single village (cause there is an achievement that ask you to end a game with only a single city standing) but after a while you find yourself in a situation where the village can't develop anymore since all the upgrade that would help aren't still unlocked because i haven't got enough achievements, there is also the fact that if a village doesn't have any other village to attack, they decide to attack YOU! it's pretty awesome growing a civilization that rebels against the player and then destroying it so that they learn their place :lol

this video is basicaly the tutorial and shows the basic's of the game which i guess does a better job at showing the game than a lame 2 minute trailers

I'm thoroughly enjoying One Piece Musou 2.  Been a while since I've been into a musou game.  Cast all feels very unique and fun to play as.  I kind of wish they pretended OPM1 didn't exist and covered the main story again cause I couldn't get into OPM1 and I'd really like to play out the great story moments from the series with the good gameplay of OPM2.  Maybe OPM3 will be a reboot like that.

playing more reus! after you unlock 10 "easy" achievements a new set of "normal" achievements pops out and your giants gain new abilities which let them make better stuff (so for example instead of tigers, they create GRRRRRRRRRRRREAT tigers) you also get the ability to play for a whole hour instead of 30 minutes (each game last 30,60 or 120 minutes or you can play without a time limit but you forego any achievements and unlock all together) one of the thing that got me worried was that at the start of the game you always begin in the same manner so i tought the game would fall into repetition but there is a nice twist to give it some random elements,

when the human decide to create a new building that building has a random effect so for example in one game the granary might like plants, and in another it might like animals, this might look like a lame difference but since each animal/plant has stuff that it likes,it force you to build your civilization in a different way,for example you might need a lot of wealth which you can get from beavers or mineral's,mineral's like other minerals when it comes to producing wealth but beavers only produce wealth in area with a lot of high level nature (which is generated by plants) if you have a building that likes animals and a way to create the nature, you want to use the beavers but otherwise you would want to use the minerals instead (or a combination of two, sometimes you get a building that likes multiple things)

one of the achievement i needed (to unlock the ability to make boars) was to let a village win 3 wars so basicaly i developed a village like crazy and then let it do what it wanted, sadly the other village close to it developed more quickly than i tought and the two went at attacking each other for a while, one of the village i created was surrounded by mountains and rattlesnake so they actualy had no interest to go into war at all :lol the village in question also decided to build a circus which give you a bonus for each kind of different animal which made for a nice bonus since the village already had desert animal and mountain animal (i could probably have added another bonus by placing a sea near the village so that it would have access to fish too but at that point there was no more space to do so)

EDIT: one of my village invented a sacrificial altar building, one of the requisite to build it is to destroy his neighbouring village :rofl

Is it a simulation?

people like it to describe it more as a puzzle game but it's more of a game that combine both simulation AND puzzle aspect

basicaly you place resource on the land like animals, plant and mineral to develop one or more village, each resource has a value which get a bonus depending on different condition (for example chicken's like to be near blueberries, apple tree likes to be near animal and blueberries like to be near apple tree so placing the lot all together give you a pretty big boost) so your job is basicaly to place each resource so that you reap the max amount of resource from your space avaiable,to make the game more complicated each village creates a (random) wonder which gives you a HUGE bonus depending on certain condition, for example they might develop a granary wonder which gives you food depending on the amount of plant they have or a hunter wonder which rewards you for number of animal's placed...

building a wonder also gives you an ambassador depending on the kind of village you developed which gives you new abilities, for example you can't create rabbits before you learn how to create domestic animal which you do by giving the giant crab a swamp ambassador... the first wonder's are all easy to create and abuse but the later one get nasty requirement, for example there is a multicorporation wonder which can be built only if you have multiple village's using big amount of golds, there is another wonder that require that village to go and win a war (if a village grows too quickly it goes to war with near village but you can prevent that by putting dangerous animal near them or if you want to be more pro-active simply smash the attacking army) each wonder of the same kind has the same requirement to be built but the effect you get is randomly selected between 3-4 different one... some effect can turn bad too,for example one of the ability of the school wonder is child labour and makes that village more likely to attack other village

each game last 30,60 or 120 minutes,at the start you can only do 30 minute games, you have different achievements (end a game with a total of 1000 resource between village's,end a game with a single village who has reached 300 resource consumed, end a game with a village who has won 6 wars) and each achievements unlock different and more powerfull animals/plant/mineral for you to use, when you get X amount of achievements you unlock 60 minute mode and when you get enough achievement in 60 minute mode, you unlock 120 minute mode

so tl;dr,you could call the game a puzzle game since you have to worry about placement of your resource in a way that they yield the maximum bonus but there are a lot of management aspect... most of the time when you get a more powerfull plant/mineral/animal you want to demolish and rebuild your whole setup to accomodate the bonus of the new plant/mineral/animal sometimes you need resource that you don't have to build a wonder and sometimes it just happens because you want to abuse the bonus of a new wonder which doesn't like your current setup much, you also get to see your village's grows and become more busy as they keep using more resource and build more wonder, here's a screenshot of the village that built a sacrificial altar, this one gets a bonus for each animal and another extra bonus in food for awe (another value which makes the villager less likely to go to war)

for example this village had a lot of topaz which gives both gold and awe (which turned into food thanks to the wonder) when they are near plants, but then the villager decided to build a wonder which required lot of tech and way less food than what i was producing so i respecked all of the minerals into salt which gives less wealth and food but also gives more tech (and gets his bonus by being near other mineral instead of other plants making it easier to abuse) to make thing better another village also decided to build another different wonder (blast furnace) which gives extra resource to all settlements of salt in the whole world

I can't vouch for any of the rest of the series, but the original Spyro was [and still is] a really great platformer.

Shit looks like straight rectangles breh. Some games should just be left alone

if it's a good game, then the rectangles will be charming.   if not, then they'll be funny.

but I think Klonoa is pretty dang fun, so I take this claim of spyro being better seriously.

DDS2 isn't long? It's at least 30 hours :beli I'll be re-renting it soon though.

Why do you care how long a game is. You don't work or clearly go out with your "social anxiety" bullshit you came up with in the other thread.

Fuck you're salty. I'm guessing you don't get disability despite your condition. I don't have "social anxiety", sport.

It's an interactive movie. You could just watch it on YouTube instead.

I like serial killer/detective stories, so I enjoyed Heavy Rain until it went full distinguished mentally-challenged fellow towards the end. Hopefully their next cinegame actually makes sense.

It won't. Have you played Indigo Prophecy? Full distinguished mentally-challenged fellow.
