Only if normal proves too hard.

 :P

If you're just trolling demi, lol, otherwise, Bayonetta isn't nearly half the game on lesser difficulties. It isn't even that hard.

Half and Half.

Like I said I'm not very good at the genre. If it was a shooter or something or a genre I play often I don't have a problem playing it on the hard difficulties. But I don't play fighting games and I generally found stuff like Devil May Cry or God of War very difficult. So its definitely better for me to play something like this on a difficulty that may be slightly too easy instead of getting frustrated and just sending the game back which is something I know I would be likely to do. I enjoyed the demo so hopefully I enjoy the full on game even though its not my favorite genre.

Easy mode is basically masturbation mode since you can literally beat the game with one button.

If this is true, that's some sad shit. demi would no longer be my hero. I started playing games on the hardest available difficulty because of him.

SO good. Only played for two hours or so but it seems like a very good port, aside from some problems I'm having that may or may not be the fault of my 360. Load times are almost non-existant and it has lots of extras, like 170+ pics of concept art and an in-game achievement tracker (I love these). The only knock against the game is that it doesn't have HD sprites, like Death Smiles, Futari, and Espgaluda 2, but that was obviously not gonna happen in the first place.

It's a pretty damn hard game too... I can only make it up to the stage 3 boss on one credit for now. I credit fed up to the final boss to get a feel for the game (and for some easy achievements) and the last stage is fucking TOUGH :o I ran out of credits before I could beat the final boss :lol

Oh, and I LOVE the bosses in this game. The DS game was a lot of fun because the bosses all have such good patterns, so I'm glad I can finally play the real deal. And on top of that, Ketsui also has my favorite Cave boss theme.

Smooth Groove playing Wipeout HD reminded me that I needed to get back to it and pick up the Fury addon.

omgggggggg so good.  I was about midway through the main campaign and at rapier speed the races are SO INTENSE but totally winnable and awesome when you get the track down.  Fury is pretty sweet too as I really dug some of those gametypes like eliminator in the psp game.  Best part of Fury though is the AWESOME NEW MUSIC it adds to the game  :hyper :hyper

I think my time playing the two Wipeouts on PSP and Wipeout HD is some of the most memorable and enjoyable experiences I've had in gaming this gen.  Wipeout these days is just amazingly good racing.  Too bad the series is dead?  But at least it went out with some very big bangs that will still holds up and be awesome racers in future years.

Would anyone here be down for a Starcraft campaign replay? I never finished the campaign, and it looks like the sequel is going to be coming out soon.

I actually just started doing this. I've never played SC, but I played a match on my friend's BNet account on the SC2 beta and did a noob match and won, and I really want to get into this.

However, I'm in the tutorial first :-[

I went back and finished up the DS version over the last few days to try to get a feel for if I should import ketsui X360 or not.   Man, Ketsui has some of the most creative bullet patterns I've ever seen.  I didn't know bullets could even move that way!  But it also makes some of the more crazy ones "how the fuck am I supposed to dodge that"  :lol  The final boss normal form and true form are insane.

Will probably pick up Ketsui with Deathsmiles 2.  I want Ketsui, but if I played ketsui for a month and it killed my J360 and then I couldn't play DS2 I'd be really pissed.  So that way I can just play both at the same time and if the system dies it dies but hopefully I can run through both a few times before it does.  I need DS2 so badly.  I love Death Smiles to death and even the weird 3d stuff doesn't put me off much sine the bullets still look the same and the music and design still rocks.

Kind of sucks that Ketsui X360 doesn't have cleaned up sprites.  I'm really used to it now after Futari & EspII and it's gonna be tough going back.  Same with Ketsui not having a bunch of console modes with unique scoring systems that add to the replay value like Futari/EspII.

Yeah Ketsui is awesome. The port quality is very good too, apparently. I've never played the PCB, but from what I've been reading it's one of the most accurate Cave ports ever. It actually does come with a console specific mode - X mode. I haven't tried it myself, but it seems like a pretty substantial addition. Sorta like what you might expect from a Ketsui Black Label. And the arranged soundtrack is awesome!

The lack of high res sprites is a bummer, but I still feel like 5pb did an awesome job. I'd be very happy if they get more shooters that Cave doesn't want to give the full HD treatment to, like Muchi Muchi Pork or Pink Sweets.

I really need to play more of it. Been spending the last week replaying The Last Remnant and I think I'm nearly done (about to kill the Fallen). The game is much better when you read a guide (or two) before and during your playthrough. It still has its problems, like how it desperately needs a fast forward/skip button during battle animations (which is in the PC version?), but it's a much more enjoyable game when you play it the right way (ie. doing the opposite of what the game tells you).

For some weird reason I wanted an Excitebike fix, so I booted up the wiiware version since I never spent much time with it.  S ranked some courses, got stuck on one that I missed by .09 of a second.  I will say that even though I like the excite series on wii, excitebike mechanics make me realise those other games tend to be a little too forgiving on incline boosts.  I also made my first excitebike course ever with the level editor.  I'm proud of it.  Running up to the finish line I just have the whole track in mud and you have to trudge through it with turbo on max.  I made it so you make it out just before you overheat.

Is Ketsui region free?

Also I was in Boston for a few days, started Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story while there... only played maybe a half hour of it? It's not bad so far but Treehouse localizations try WAY too hard to be funny. Right before I left on vacay, I beat Vercinotrex (aka mission 64) in FF13 with 5 stars. So now it's time to wrap up a few loose ends with that game and put it away. Expect to have it 100% done by the end of this week... then on to the Kasumi Mass Effect 2 dlc, and then finally RESONANCE OF FATE.

Katamari Forever - this was next on my "fall '09 games I am taking forever to clear out" list after Brutal Legend.  Man, the soundtrack in this one is FANTASTIC.  Aural orgasm every stage.  I just wish the stages were longer.  4 mins or less means you don't even get to hear the whole song and the stage ends right when you are finally getting big and having a lot of fun.  Can't wait to get to some of the longer stages.

Heavy Rain - I thought it was good but realllllly slow pacing for a while.  Was not exactly a fan.  I love adventure games but I've always felt the genre has been divided between entertaining adventure games and slooooow and kind of boring until they get good adventure games.  Not really a fan of the latter.  But I think I've gotten to the point where it's picked up now and every scene is like ZOMG ACTION LIFE OR DEATH.  Definitely entertaining at this point.

I agree that Brütal Legend is a less consistent, and in some ways inferior experience compared to Psychonauts. And the RTS sections are anything but seamless with the main driving/exploration game. But. Man, seriously... "shallow"? Have you played the AI on brutal? Have you tried an online ranked game? RTS should be judged on how well they play competitively.

I also would have appreciated the hidden-item locator during my Legends/Buried Metal search. Including it as DLC is a little cheesy, but I got all of them without it so no biggie.

Well to be fair I don't like rts games and am no good at them so I can't really judge other than the fact I used very little strategy and just rushed the enemy with a big ball of dudes and won.  The 3rd person viewpoint with limited unit selection controls was just conductive to real RTS strategy.  I mean you could do it, but it's a total pain in the ass so for me it wasn't worth bothering.  Better to just zerg rush and push the story forward.  :'(

The physical combat is incredibly shallow though and I don't see how anyone could dispute that :P  The story was really simple too.

Did they actually get that working properly? When I was trying to jump in the demo using the six axis I found it really inconsistent. I think I just suck at Katamari though, the Forever demo was the first time I ever played a Katamari game.

edit: I lost a whole bunch of cheevs recently as I'd been playing offline and hadn't recovered my gtag from a friends place, so I'm replaying some parts of AC2 and Borderlands. Can't be assed regetting cheevs from the first half of Lost Odyssey and want to move on to other games. Finished the Dr Ned expansion for Borderlands a few nights ago to, was pretty good for 400 points, going to buy General Knoxx tonight.

Yo demi, what is the best way to play VC/Wiiware games from different regions?  Do you just change the region of your system everytime you want to play a VC/Wiiware game from a different region?  Or is there a way to just run any VC/Wiiware channel regardless of the region it comes from?

I just got my Wii up to date and trying to figure out what else I want to install.

Got sick of FF13 grinding so went to play through Kasumi's quest. Was pretty nice, even though she is like Zaeed - limited interaction while on the ship, and one (rather awesome) loyalty mission. There were a lot of new textures and a nice new environment that her loyalty mission took place in, with some awesome music. Took me an hour and a half to do everything with regards to her quest... not sure if it's worth 560 points but if you're a completionist and enjoy ME2 you won't feel ripped off.

Going back to this game after playing so much FF13, it's kinda funny how slow everything moves compared to that game. Game still fucking rocks, although I hope this is the last DLC.

Yeah, no-one is going to debate that the combat is shallow. And apparently even within that shallowness, there's an infinite combo the player-character can use in multiplayer to grief the other PC/farm 50 fans per win. Queue up units, then go grief the other avatar at his base, lather, rinse repeat. If true, it's a lame mistake to make.

But if you're not into RTS I can see how this game would be a big disappointment. Tim Schafer going out of his way to describe it as a brawler with RTS elements was disingenuous.

What difficulty level were you playing on? I played on Brütal, and found Dry Ice Wet Graves impossible to pass until I learned how to actually play the RTS as it was intended.

I didn't say it was a big disappointment  :lol
I liked the game and am satisfied with it though for me: Tim Schafer PC games >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Psychonauts >>>> Brutal Legend.

I played on gentle because I suck at rts and didn't want to get frustrated with the rts bits when I'm playing the game for the world and story.  Was able to finish all the rts battles on my first try except the ice one where I gave up after it became too long winded and restarted doing zerg rush next time where I rushed their base with a bunch of grunt units while casting the "you cannot summon units" solo so they had no units and I just attacked their stage and get creating new grunt units to meet me at their stage with the rally flag.  Even when they did summon units I'd have a legion of grunts right at their spawn point who would kill them right away and then focus back on the stage.  Plus I spammed all my solos during all this for extra damage.

Ha, OK fair enough.

I was fond of Monkey Island 1, Full Throttle, never played Grim Fandango, and completely loved Psychonauts. I felt the same level of craftsmanship from the Brütal Legend world and characters, and was just enrapt every time I tooled around the world, seeing the sights, and even watching the cutscenes.

The early RTS battles were too easy to be a threat, and the last ones were too scripted to be finished without multiple retries. This is always the situation with singleplayer RTS campaigns. I think they're really meant to be played competitively.

Bebpo's stance on Schafer's game is pretty much my own.  I don't know how he feels about Full Throttle, but that is my favorite game he has made.

and Grim Fandango is really good too.  One of the standout things about is the complete lack of non-adventure gameplay.  Even Full Throttle had those often frustrating motorcycle sequences.  In general I think the further away from action or real time gameplay there are in his games, the better.  Psychonauts was a total ho-hum platformer and had Rare levels of collecting, but there the setting and occasional interesting puzzles made it enjoyable.

Brutal Legend didn't really have puzzles or any big way to interact with the world outside of the main RTS or hack and slash gameplay.  Well, there were races...and um, I think you could hunt things.  I think you had to be sold on the RTS stuff and I'm not a huge RTS fan, so it wasn't for me.

I think Double Fine & Telltale Games should merge.

With Double Fine, Tim Schafer & crew have the creativity side of gaming down.  Art, music, writing; it's all there.  But the team is weak at doing polished gameplay.  Psychonauts was a neat game, but the core platforming game was very unpolished.  Same with Brutal Legend.  Their games also do not sell.

Otoh Telltale games have gotten very good at making polished adventure games that sell.  But the team is missing the creativity and writing (and even the art/music could be better) to take their games to the next level and become classics.

The two companies complement each other nicely.  If they hooked up and made anything, even if it's not an adventure game, I think the results would be better than anything either studio could come up with on their own.

after some boss you get some magic that give you the ability to imbue elements into weapons,it makes the damage problem less aggravating

I haven't really had that problem so far. Anyway, I'm an hour in and really like it. I can tell that it's going to be a dungeon-crawler, but that hasn't been a bother so far. The combat is pretty complex, as is itemization, but I like that it tries to do some things differently from other RPGs.

Finally 1000'd The Last Remnant. Pretty good game except it becomes an absolute mind-numbing grindfest on the second disc. Still, it was much more fun than the first time I played through it. I just bought Resonance of Fate and Spectral Force 3, but I think I need a break from all of these RPGs. Going to sink a ton of time into SSF4 and Ketsui/Espgaluda/Mushi Futari for now.

Finally cracked open Demon's Souls and played a bit... this is probably the most American Japanese-made game ever... other than that, I think I'm missing something. Like, it doesn't seem like that bad a game, but why is it so highly acclaimed? I guess I just need to play more.

RoF isn't grindy though.  If you do the arena battles you'll never need to fight a random battle in the game ever.

Play as Royal and play more, it should grow on you as you explore the world.

You don't have to do all the arena battles though.  Just 3 of each rank to move on and you're good.

Unless you are one of those people who go for 1000/1000.
...oh wait.

Are the battles in RoF fast at least? I don't mind grinding as long as you are actively doing stuff most of the time (like killing turtles in FFXIII). In TLR, you hit attack and then watch animations for the next 3 minutes. The game is great when you are doing boss battles and quests, but when it's time to stat-grind and dismantle 500 monsters, ugh. Granted, dismantling is only necessary for an achievement, but holy shit does it take forever.

ahahahahah told ya
there are skills that deal damage ignoring defense, you should have at least the counter attack one (return 25% of damage received back to the target) using stuff like this is the only way i found to defeat some of the early boss
also learn to love the crossbow,it's the easiest weapon to chain

That's not really fair though.  FF13 has some of the fastest battles in any rpg.  RoF battles are still pretty quick.  Like VP2 length.  If there's a leader they take 5-10 seconds.  If there's not you either run past all the enemies or spend 1-2 mins fighting them.
