Last nite my friend came over and we played a veritable grab-bag of random games:
Gargoyle's Quest 2 NES - Very reminiscent of the Game Boy classic, and naturally it's challenging as hell. Didn't make it very far

The Flintstones: The Rescue of Dino and Hoppy NES - Just played a few of the opening levels, I like the nonlinear Mario style world map, but the game itself is mediocre. And for a game set in "Bedrock", the music blows.
Emerald Dragon SFC - Bought the import, played a bit of it, i.e. some Japanese guy's save data. Game looks pretty enjoyable, I'll have to download the fan translation. Nice anime portraits, decent SFC RPG style music. Combat system emphasizes movement and has auto-battle.
Power Blade NES - Really fun, underrated NES title. Some elements feel "been-there-done-that", like the enemies you encounter, but the large, sprawling levels, graphics, and great music make up for it.
Dragon Quest 3 SFC - Watching my friend play through Zoma's castle without him knowing a lick of Japanese was pretty fun. He actually made it quite far too

Radiata Stories - Final dungeon on the human side. Gonna probably beat the human side tonight, then do the nonhuman side, and finally the postgame content.
Recettear - Just did the first dungeon and sold some stuff. Seems like a fun, albeit simplistic, pick-up-and-play title.
Finally beat Phantasy Star Gaiden for Game Gear, and gonna play some Kirby: Epic Yarn in a bit.
