Made it to the point where you get to choose between Human/Fairy side in Radiata Stories, and beat Hero 300, now just gotta figure out the trick to beating Hero 3, and I'm done with Half Minute Hero.

I was in the mood to play the original Call of Duty so I scrapped up my copy I bought when it orignally came out and it won't run on my new PC. It crashes back to the desktop everytime.

Fucking PC's.

Reading is for distinguished effete fellows!

I don't mind this "reading" thing you speak of, but having to downgrade my video drivers so I can play game... or more accurately "so that I come maybe one step closer to playing a game," is exactly why I don't play PC games anymore.

The idea that I can pop a disc in my game appliance and just play is very attractive, particularly when compared to messing with my drivers, which may allow me to play the game, or make my system cease functioning normally, preventing me from using my PC for anything else, like mail, or web, or access to troubleshooting websites, until I troubleshoot the new problem... well, the choice seems pretty obvious to me.

I just gave the Perfect Dark Zero demo a whirl after playing some olskoo Perfect Dark. I wanted to see how bad PD0 really was, looking back. Dear god is it awful. I can't even buy it as a fan of the series. Screen tearing, sub-30fps clip, awful graphics and effects, complete shit AI. What the fuck was Rare thinking? I really hope they return to the Perfect Dark franchise and actually do it justice instead of royally fuck it up next time :(

It's literally impossible to play for me. I wish I could get through it, but it has every problem I find absolutely inexcusable in video games. Hilariously, the first Perfect Dark is everything I love in video games, and it's my all-time favorite console FPS.

They updated Cave Story Wiiware (fixed map, music, screen issues) so I finally downloaded it. Its METROID! There's even an homage jingle when you pick up the equivalent of an e-tank. Really enjoying it so far, the controls with the wiimote sideways work really well. I especially like how you can upgrade your guns by picking up enemy doritos. Nice platforming puzzles. I could do without the story stuff but I'm just glad I get to play a new metroid.

Apparently the old remixed music didn't loop correctly and was missing percussion beats. All of the issues have been fixed for the game, but then again I never had the old version.

How? All you need to do is grab the tow cable and save your friend to unlock Hell. I've been replaying the game on Hard mode and the bosses, especially the ones that spam projectiles, are a lot harder simply because you die in one hit. I have learned to love the Flare Gun.

Finally started playing Way of the Samurai 3. It's the first WotS game I've played, but I'm liking it so far. I played for a couple hours, became the leader of the Ouka clan, then kept dying trying to defend the stupid village. Restarted my game and now I found a way to get a bunch of samurai points quickly, so I guess I'll do that for a while. Then I guess I'll go look for a good weapon.

someone finaly cracked cladun so you can play it on custom firmware

it feels somewhat empty and basic and yet i can't stop myself from playing,i got a nice rare artifact which give me +8 attack for only 32 mana so my character deals like a gazillion of damage, the only thing i don't understand is that sometimes yellow number comes from monster and i don't do any damage,i seems to understand it happens mostly with fire monster but my weapon is not fire elemented so i'm not sure what's happening precisely....

i also made some random dungeon runs and i don't understand what's the deal with this whole "Rare Title Increase" does it mean i have a chance of finding better stuff?

Been playing a lot of Nier.  Still not sure if I like it or if I'm just playing because I'm bored out of my fucking skull.  On one hand it's janky as hell, the game looks like an upscaled budget PS2 title, the sidequests are way too mundane, and half the time you're not even sure what you're supposed to be doing or where to go because a) the game doesn't explain itself very well and b) the map is all kinds of distinguished mentally-challenged.  I don't know how much time I wasted fishing in the wrong spot before I finally said fuck it and looked it up on YouTube to figure out what to do.  But I guess I'm still kind of interested in the story and want to see how this all plays out and I'm finding that the voice acting is surprisingly well done for the most part.  Gives me some incentive to grind this out to the end.

There's an X on the minimap that points you to your main quest objective.

Well I know that but I don't like how you can't change that X, like say I want it to do a sidequest and have that marked as my main objective.  It's a pain in the ass trying to remember who I need to talk to sometimes. Plus that onscreen map is kind of wonky at times.  It'll show me facing one direction when I'm actually facing another.  It could've been a lot better implemented imo.

I need to get back to Nier now that I've finished Reach, though with Vegas coming out shortly it may wind up on the back burner again.

I agree about the map, and setting waypoints for sidequests, but I've found that the quest log usually does a pretty good job in reminding you who you need to speak to and where for the sidequests.

Nier is pretty short. My first playthrough took like 25 hours and this was while doing a good amount of sidequests.

My problem has mostly been time related, work has been beating me down, and I'm the sort of person who can't just sit and enjoy a game for an hour. I won't play until I know I can set a chunk (well, a few hours anyways) of time aside to play, and when playing games like Nier, it's like OCD kicks in. I try to complete all the sidequests I can before moving the story ahead, and I tend to grind even when it's not necessary. It's a bad habit, as I've managed to burn myself out on titles long before I'm anywhere near completing them by stretching 10-15 hour games into 40+ hour complete-a-thons, then drop it for whatever new game has come down the pipe, never actually finishing anything. My current backlog of half-finished games this gen is staggering.

I tend to do well with completing short linear type games, but I'm more attracted to playing open-world stuff. I'm already rubbing my hands together in anticipation of Fallout: New Vegas, even though in reality, I've yet to complete all the downloadable content that I bought (and I bought it all) from the last one.  :lol

mmm... i'm not sure what to think of cladun, the first thing that i really don't like it's the overall plot,it's inconclusive, confusing, uninteressing and most importantly it's just not funny even if the character try to crack a joke sometimes

the story section are okay... personaly i find them very easy,my character have around 60 ATK and DEF and are around level 30 and i'm having a hard time dying, sometimes i do die but it always feels it's more because of that stupid "RUNNING MAKE YOU WEAK AS A KITTEN" rule than the game itself, most of the level are mazey and kinda of a pain in the ass to navigate what with all the "DEFEAT MONSTER ON THE NORTH PART OF THE MAP TO UNLOCK DOOR ON THE SOUTH PART OF THE MAP!"

the most fun i had was with the random dungeon, but it takes like 10 levels of gate searching before the loot starts to roll in or the monster start to pose a threat,in disgaea you could make enemy as strong or as weak as you wished right from the start so i'm not sure why they missed something so basic

i seems to remember bebpo saying that he had the same problem and he tought the game was better when running trough the other kind of random dungeon which was given trough free DLC in japan, apparently in the US version it's unlocked by finishing the game,so maybe i should just do that

Yeah, that's the main problem with the random dungeon and the other random dungeon you get fixes that.

The other problem is that there just isn't that much loot so the game is pretty short.

Last nite my friend came over and we played a veritable grab-bag of random games:

Gargoyle's Quest 2 NES - Very reminiscent of the Game Boy classic, and naturally it's challenging as hell. Didn't make it very far :P

The Flintstones: The Rescue of Dino and Hoppy NES - Just played a few of the opening levels, I like the nonlinear Mario style world map, but the game itself is mediocre. And for a game set in "Bedrock", the music blows.

Emerald Dragon SFC - Bought the import, played a bit of it, i.e. some Japanese guy's save data. Game looks pretty enjoyable, I'll have to download the fan translation. Nice anime portraits, decent SFC RPG style music. Combat system emphasizes movement and has auto-battle.

Power Blade NES - Really fun, underrated NES title. Some elements feel "been-there-done-that", like the enemies you encounter, but the large, sprawling levels, graphics, and great music make up for it.

Dragon Quest 3 SFC - Watching my friend play through Zoma's castle without him knowing a lick of Japanese was pretty fun. He actually made it quite far too :P

Radiata Stories - Final dungeon on the human side. Gonna probably beat the human side tonight, then do the nonhuman side, and finally the postgame content.

Recettear - Just did the first dungeon and sold some stuff. Seems like a fun, albeit simplistic, pick-up-and-play title.

Finally beat Phantasy Star Gaiden for Game Gear, and gonna play some Kirby: Epic Yarn in a bit.

yea i have like a gazillion of basic swords, plus they don't even have any description

also is it just me or do certain title like "ice" apply only to armor? i have an ice sword but nothing in the stat screen indicates that it deals ice damage so....?

i made a test and apparently even if the game doesn't tell you in the stat screen,an attack from a fire sword count as a fire attack......

anyway these level are getting more and more annoying, the level i'm in has more flame-throwing cannon than monster which make running around pretty much impossible... i just want to smack some monster and get some phat loot not play freakin super mario >:(

haha, yeah there are some annoying enemies.  Mainly the ones you have to use the right magic on.  And all the grass/mud everywhere slowing you down is >_< and then you run and jump and take 2x damage when you get hit.

The trick is to be patient and walk and use the shield.

Finally got a good, basically new flat-screen CRT and all my PS2 and Wii games look gorgeous on it. My 360 is gonna get mighty lonely for the rest of the year now that I'm skipping on Vanquish. Finally I can get back to FFXII :heart :heart :heart

A friend of mine has a flatscreen HD CRT; the difference between it and an LCD screen is pretty impressive. There is a lushness to CRT that isn't present in LCD screens I've seen. But I'm happy to have a thin, flat screen allowing me to reclaim living room space.

Well the issue here is that PS2 doesn't look too hot on anything but SD, and I'd rather not plunk the cash down for a component cable for my Wii so a flatscreen CRT is all I needed. It's nice and small and it has s-video. That's all I could ask for.

This game is such a chore, grind grind grind.

But I have nothing to do at work so I will keep playing.
