I just played the first few levels of Serious Sam HD.  Never played the original and this game is really fun.  The controls are quick, the weapons have huge hit radius and feel good, and there are sooooo many enemy types.  Lots of fast action.  Totally digging it.

Would like to play coop with some EBers at some point.  I know at least FatalT and Swaggaz have it.  Will probably just try the 16p coop with randoms after I finish the campaign solo.

I'd be down for that.

I've found some time to sink my teeth into a Farewell to Dragons. Interesting world. Sort of steampunk/fantasy? Guns, mechanical armor, trains and blimps and your usual assortment of fantasy staples. The voice acting is very stilted and the story line is passable. Only about 3 hours in so far.

Also, Chuzzle on the Ipod touch has me. I didn't like the game when I played it a few years ago, but it's addicitive.

Dragon Age and FFXIII are not really comparable.

Both seem to be shit, though. Dragon Age at least is. Still have to play FFXIII, though.

started Dragon age

in 30 minutes it has murdered , raped, revived the corpse, remurdered, raped again, pissed in the mouth and smeered shit in the face of FF13.

Japan is dead. Let it's rotting corpse act as a warning to others.

Except Dragon Age is by the books the same as XII... but keep pretending

You only need to do most of them once to unlock the locations. Then just fast travel around. I don't think I used a tunnel after the first 15 hours or so.

It just sorta ruins the pacing, and it's really annoying after being able to amble in any direction and eventually hit something in the Wastelands. I guess I should be happy for fast travel and the Ghoul's Mask, but it would have been cool if they had kept the streets passable.

Trials: HD perhaps the best thing to grace any downloadable service this gen.  So fucking good.

I wish they would release this on the PC-I wanted so much to like Trials 2 but the physics were just a touch too much off and I couldn't get over it. I hear Trials HD is much, much better in that regard.

I finished my EU3: Heir to the Throne game last night and give the expansion pack a big thumbs up. The new additions make everything feel more focused and organized, while still giving the player plenty of leeway to define and attain their own personal objectives (the heart and soul of EU3-thinking "I am going to do X task in my game" and then pulling it off).

Trials HD is incredible.  The only thing preventing it from being a perfect game is Microsoft's absolutely distinguished mentally-challenged stance on level sharing.  None of my friends have made any levels and at the same time I look at the user made levels at http://trialshd.net/ and get a little bit sad.

Realized partway through last night's STFU 'cheev whore mop-up that I could now drop the difficulty level to Apprentice. I'm not going to bother with a Sith Master (unlockable difficulty) playthrough because I was so, so frustrated with the cheapness of a couple bosses on Sith Lord.

A friend lent me Assassin's Creed 2 when he came over for our Christmas party, so that's up next so I can return it to him. I was pretty enthralled with AC1 for the first half of it, and so many people are saying AC2 fixes the repetitiveness of the original, so I'm hopeful. Probably too hopeful.

Brutal Legend

The 1st 20 min have rocked my socks off so far. What a great fucking entrance to a game.
The first 20 minutes are not representative of the overall gameplay though, at least not of the world as a whole. If you want to not get seriously frustrated with a couple of mid- and late-game story missions, try practicing against the AI from the Multiplayer menu on the start menu (album cover).

I really, really loved the game world and the writing, and even am enjoying the multi (hit me up for a player match if you're inclined), but I agree that calling it "not an RTS" is misleading and the demo doesn't even have a hint of what the core is: RTS and driving/action exploration.

Since I've abandoned Dragon Age, I'm going to start playing...KLONOA for the Wii.

:bow Klonoa :bow2 :rock :rock :rock I own every version of Klonoa except for the party game and the Wonder Swan version. I think there may be a Japanese-only RPG I've missed, but... OK almost everything. Man, I dug on that game so hard. I played the hell out of it.

Zeppelins and trains in fantasy is almost an automatic win for me. Too bad I don't have a rig capable of running anything like that. My netbook gets chuggy playing Tinker (no joke) and my desktop PC is probably 6 years old now (and running Win2k). My iMac is plenty fast, but everyone knows the only game on Mac is "Photoshop."

I'll check out Chuzzle though.

Braid is pretty awesome but disappointingly short -- which is weird, because it seems like the mechanics would be conducive to an infinite amount of elaborate puzzles. Some of it seems rushed as well, like they ran out of time to play with the possibilities and threw 1 or 2 retardedly easy jigsaws into every level to fill in the gaps. The concept is brilliant, and original, and innovative and blah blah blah but that + the length + zero replay value leave it feeling half-baked.

What little I played of Trine reminded me a lot of The Lost Vikings

Frag: Can I play as the Dutch and the Poles in EU3?

Yep. Poland starts off as a very playable power right from the get go, the Dutch you have a variety of choices for which Dutchy you want to use to later unite the low countries and form the Netherlands (which don't have to come under Hapsburg control-the game's timeline starts well before that). Brabant is a popular choice for that.

EU3 pretty much lets you start whever you want. The only real limitations are some of the far asian dynasties aren't particularly fleshed out (though the indian subcontinent is well done).

I'm at the Tower of Bab-il on Final Fantasy IV DS.  I'm sick and tired of this shitty game, but I'm SO NEAR THE ENDING.  Should I persevere or just give up and start playing Dragon Quest V DS?  Also playing the Retro Game thing, just got Guadia Quest.

Played some Assassin's Creed the other day but I've been playing DS stuff so I haven't really continued it

Going through my backlog.

Just about done with Uncharted 2, and so I've moved on to Prince of Persia (next gen).

I don't get why people were complaining about the fact Elika saves you every time you make a big fall. It doesn't really take away from the platforming. Once you unlock light seeds, the game is bananas in terms of platforming.

If anything, the main thing that takes away from the game is the combat. Good god, one on one arenas with clunky controls is not my idea of fun.

Most of them are sort of useless, I mainly traveled by land. You will need to use them to get to certain points in metro DC (and that aspect tripped me up at one point). Other than that, the wide open space away from DC = soo goooood. But I did like using them since I was the standard Stealth build. That plus the Stealth suit = darkness is ma' veil.

Prince of Persia makes a great first impression.  it wasn't until a couple hours in when I just got boooooorrrrreedd.

that and the voice acting/writing drove me up a wall.  These two obviously-not-American people are running through obviously-not-America spouting zingers and one liners that are straight out of a fucking Friends script.

This game is somehow even worse in 3D.

Guess I'll have to wait for KH0 to satisfy my KHtardism.

Really?

I was thinking of getting this version since i lost my data on the GBA version (and later the game and system itself)  :'(

I tried to play both versions but it was too boring :(  I like the story bits, but the gameplay is just really really dull.  Especially since it's just the same old areas.  Somehow I found 352/8 gameplay a lot more bearable even though it's just as repetitive with no new areas as well.

I'm bouncing back and forth between AC 2 and Borderlands on 360 at the moment.

I've sort of reached that grinding point of AC 2. Overall I still really enjoy the game, but the early momentum has slowed a little so I'm taking breaks so I don't burn out on it.

Borderlands is also enjoyable but the frame rate and the tearing is a bit much. I played some of it on the PC prior and I've been playing a lot of MW 2 in general so when I switched over to Borderlands the frame rate by comparison kind of got to me at first but now I'm use to it at least.

Is there any reason to buy those DLC's for Borderlands if you are early in the game or is that later game content?

It being a three button attack (four, counting the assist button) game works better for the platform.  Plus it's not like people had a problem with MvC2 having four attack buttons or JoJo's using three.  I'm really interested in the we-fixed-the-fucked-up-stuff Ultimate All-Stars next month, but I have a sinking feeling the online is going to be awful.

Started and finished Flower on PS3. I've paid more for movies that lasted about the same amount of time and were less enjoyable. The game is gorgeous and full of charm. I like the controls but am a little surprised they didn't go with full motion controls instead of including a stick. I also liked the playable credits but wished they'd ended them a bit earlier or been a bit more loose with them.

Though I've finished it, I'm clearly missing one big flowerpot in the middle of the selection screen desk, and I may have also screwed up the first "dark" level where you can get shocked and burned down to your base petal.
