as a whole how was it? I heard people saying it was like morrowind.  I want to check it out eventually.

for the past month I've been slowly going through Uncharted 2 again.  It's disgusting how I finished this game in one day when it was released, and now with the all the work and shit I have, I only just passed the train part and I started playing January 20-some.  The only other thing I played was like the Bulletstorm and Killzone 3 demo.  I can only imagine that this woeful way of playing games is how normals do it.  I feel sick about the whole thing.

anyway, Uncharted 2 is still good.  I forgot how creepy the Chloe ass talk was in the first few scenes.  While I still really like how the shooting action feels, ever since I played Vanquish, aiming in other shooters (on a gamepad) doesn't feel as sharp.  Though, the dead space 2 demo was pretty good.

This is just pathetic trolling. Go back to your weaboo games

but why? what i want to say is that there are a lot of game that are as linear as FF13 yet it's okay for those but become AN HORRIBLE PROBLEM when it comes to FF13,i picked mass effect because it's the last game i'm playing that is highly regarded,i would happily have done the same with lost odyssey (well ok that doesn't count as highly regarded...) if i could find some maps of the game lying around.....

Hmmm. FFXIII is the most linear JRPG I have ever played in nearly every aspect. Not just in the tubes you hold forward to run down, but in everything. The game is just straight up shallow. Some people like how they pared down what makes a JRPG to it's most basic components making an extremely simple, stunning game. Others find it to be oversimplified and too repititive. I think JRPGs have always been overly repetitive and I think FFXIII was a move in the right direction but the battle system was way too shallow. So when I say I think the game was too linear I'm not just referring to the level structure but also the leveling system, the battle system and the story.

The battle system is almost interesting, with paradigm shifting but it's a bit too simple for me, it's definitely a step up from turn based systems of old but I would have preferred so much more if they kept an encounter system akin to FFXII and removed animations for paradigm shifts  :-\ while also having a bit more flexibility within paradigms ie setting priority/order for casting within your paradigms not just leaving it up to the AI to decide whats best. They could quite easily implement more features like this for people inclined to dive into that stuff while keeping it in the background enough that if you don't care about it you don't need to bother.

Starts out good, but it tapers off towards the end. It's four chapters long, but the first chapter makes up about 2/3rd of the game. The second chapter is actually probably the best, it has the best atmosphere and the most interesting side-quests (and it's an asian-esque academy town and you have to fight sentient umbrellas at one point, also there's a parody of Last Crusade) but it's only about 7-8 hours long if you do all the side-quests. Then the last two chapters are about 3 hours combined and and feel really rushed. Chapter 3 was still good, it was just over really fast. Chapter 4 was a just a straight path to the final boss with swarms of really powerful monsters between you and it. Kind of a letdown. Still, I'd recommend picking it up during a sale.

Also, it's no Morrowind. TW2 is not that wide open, it's more linear than the first game. (although less linear than Gothic 4)

I'm not sure if I want to play The Witcher now or a do a Mass Effect 1/2 marathon. I've never gotten more than a few hours into The Witcher. Mass Effect, on the other hand, I was about 2/3rds of the way through it when my HDD crashed my saves got lost, and I've never played the sequel.

Hmm....

I ended up buying Xbox Live again even though I don't play games online :(  I made it a whole 3 months since I quit after 6 years of paying them $50 yearly but I turned on the X360 today and it said "HEY, SIGN BACK UP FOR A YEAR FOR ONLY $36 with $8 back in points!  ONLY GOOD FOR TODAY" and I thought....hmmm....$28 for a year....hmmmmmm....ONLY FOR TODAY....hmmmm....fuck, and I bought in :(

I'm a sucker.  But at least I have netflix streaming now on my game tv!

I played a real fucked up Little Big PLanet level last night, it was about an AQUATIC BURGER who kidnapped townsfolk and could control water levels and stuff. Hilarious. I was surprised his bun wasn't soggy.

I'm at a loss as to what to play ATM. I'm getting sick of grindan in Castlevania. I should get back to Vesperia, still haven't finished that game after 1 and half years  :-\

TwoWorlds2 still ain't out in europe (lol). Now it's releasing really close to DA2 dammit. I did say I'd buy it on launch, but I probably won't put that much playtime into it.

Still got in my backlog:

DivinityII
Fallout NV
DA Awakenings
2nd playthru of ME2 w/ dlc

I'll do Awakenings first, then I'll start DA2. It'll take me about a year before I finish all the others now.

Made it up to the Cathedral in Vagrant Story. Found a good weapon/shield pair and have been kicking ass. The Herakles spell + the Break Art where you get back some MP makes this game so much easier... apart from the occasional enemy who does stupid shit critical attacks that kill you when you're not paying attention.

Hopefully the Cathedral ain't too long and the end guy isn't hard. Gonna try to beat it on Friday. Then it's on to Fable 2, after playing Planescape and Vagrant Story, I need something dumb and shallow.

Started playing WANTED: Weapons of Fate tonight. I heard it was short. Apparently, it's really short. I played for an hour and a half and am up to Chapter 4. I think there are 7 total.

Game walks you through all the stages of the interesting things you can do: walk, aim shoot, (ho-hum), use indirect fire to open a window for discreet movement so you can flank enemies (WOOOO!), curve a bullet's flight (rawk!), and slo-mo traversal firing (meh). Then it drops you in a turret for no good reason, and fails to explain that you've got perfect cover whenever you're not actively aiming or firing. Yeah, that makes no sense: put a guy in a turret and expect him not to be firing constantly? What about that indirect fire which forces everyone to take cover?

The game's pretty inconsistent, but there are some badass Time Crisis type sequences that make up for it.

I beat Dead Space Extraction yesterday on the PS3. I really enjoyed it and the Move controls were great. Having a navigation controller to go along with the waggle wand really helps with reloading and weapon selection.

regarding mass effect,i seems to understand that i'm getting close to the end,my next destination is ilya or a planet named like that... i remember reading here on bore something about loyalty mission or stuff like that, was that for mass effect 2? can i just finish the game without worrying about leaving stuff around?

People always think "oh you love Japanese games you must love Japanese women!!!!!1!1", but honestly if my taste in games had anything to do with my taste in women, I would be a bigger proponent of eastern bloc RPGs than even Prole, and The Witcher would be my favorite game ever.

1000'd Dante's Inferno. I played through new game+ on easy mode, and you know what, it wasn't nearly as awful as my initial playthrough. You rip right through enemies within seconds, so you don't have to suffer  through absurd damage sponges and the terrible combat. It's still not a good game though, it's just not aggressively bad like it is on normal. I can't even imagine how bad hard or very hard must be. I'd guess it takes at least 10 minutes of combos to kill each enemy. The Gates of Hell challenge mode was a bit of a grind too, but at least it doesn't take very long to blow through the 50 waves of enemies (25-30 min). So yeah, if anyone plans to play Dante's Inferno, I highly recommend playing on easy. At least that way you'll be playing a kinda bad 4/10 game instead of an abysmal 2/10 game.

I'm almost done with Fist of the North Star as well. I finished Legend mode with everyone and I finished Dream mode with half of the characters. Dream mode is pretty fun since each character has their own original story, and that's much more enjoyable than the completely disjointed retelling of the manga that's in Legend mode. Jagi has the joke story in Dream mode, so that one's been my favorite so far. The only part that sucks about it is actually playing as Jagi, since he's by far the worst character in the game.

Man, I wish I was caught up on the RGG games so I could play RGG OF THE END with you guys.  It looks like a lot of fun and the kind of RGG experience that will make the series fresh again.  But I don't want to play it until I play RGG4 since everyone says Akiyama is a cool character and you'll get more out of THE END if you know who his character is from RGG4.

I was SOOOOOO CLOSE to 1-ALL'ing DOJ Black Label. So fucking close. I made it to stage 5 having only died once, but I made distinguished mentally-challenged mistake after distinguished mentally-challenged mistake since I'm still unfamiliar with the stage. Made it to the boss with no lives left, but I managed to bring him down to 30% health. FUCK

I have it though. I just need one more really good run like I just had.

aaaand done,i finished with shepard around level 40 in around 20 hours (i spent a little time dickering around with side-quests) and my opinion is pretty much the same,it is a decent shooter with some light rpg element (and not the other way around) but i wouldn't call it game of the year or stuff like that,it's okay

the worst part of the game is probably feros, not only it's probably the most dull-looking planet of the game and also incredibly generic since all you do is fighting horde of zombie like guys while climbing stairs

the moral system was a little lame,i wanted to play bad but ultimately i always ended up picking the "good" answer because more than playing "good guy/cartoonish villain" it was more like "reasonable guy/jerk for no reason"

the different alien races are cool even tough they are made with the usual race tropes (the warrior race... the all female race...) the little guys who look like chubby version of darth vaders stands out in particular but it's a shame you see so little of them, the character were also nice except the 2 human jerk, wrex was particulary cool,i heard there is no wrex in ME2? :(

having a bigger variety of enemies would probably have made the game better,it's nice that they gave each side-quest some story (instead of the "BRING ME 5 SLIME DROP!" school of family) but most of them give you no real reward and take place on the same buildings,i did a few of them just for variety sake and to get enough money's to get the "rich" achievement (which also unlock the game best weapons) but it's just lame

the beginning is also sooooooooo slow, there is so much talking that takes forever and really doesn't move the plot forward or anything,it's just kinda there...

also maybe i missed a passage somewhere but the story took a turn for the stupid near the end

play ME2 and you will see
In ME2 you can blast someone even if he is hiding behind some corner and you can be safely behind cover

you should try some "magic" stuff in ME1,but ME2 improved them greatly
Once upgraded powers are very devastating and often have area effects

why does dead space 2 continue to spawn enemies behind me with no audio cue? you hear the crash of one popping out of a vent in front but then suddenly i get bumrushed by another behind me and there was nothing to indicate that was going to happen.
really cheap.
pretty obvious i'm getting to the end

ME's awesome plot

first of all,i did a lot of griping with lost odyssey too so no if you sucks, you sucks

second,ME awesome plot consist of a bunch of guys who stops a sentient spaceship from destroying the universe, that's like some dragon quest 1 level plot right there!

third,it takes like 10 minutes of pointless talking before you get some action done, and after you finish eden prime there are 10 other minute of pointless talking, good pacing that is not

the different alien races are cool even tough they are made with the usual race tropes (the warrior race... the all female race...)

Yup, sure beats collections of androgynous kids huh :japancry

we need a game about alien loli to truly bridge the gap between the west and the east

Star Ocean 4 already did that.

ME's plot is horribly average.

And let this be a lesson to people who don't know how to use a dictionary. That doesn't mean I think the STORY is average.

It's a pretty arch-typical plot but extremely well-told, I loved the background detail in the first ME - how they delved into stuff like the jamming capabilities of the battleships and religious beliefs of the alien races was very cool. The actual storyline was pretty much "guy manipulated by a greater ancient evil" we've seen in RPGs since 1987 though.

My problem with the plot is that it is so thin. It is practically,"evil manipulated guy tries to resurrect ancient evil who threatens the universe! Find the second conduit (or whatever)!" so you spend the entire game looking for the next conduit, and then after that it's end game.

ME2 is even worse. The plot is literally,"assemble a team for a suicide mission" and that is it.

Thankfully, in terms of storytelling, ME games are ahead of other games. The way it characterizes its characters and gets you delved in this foreign galaxy is fantastic.

An average plot told well is better than a good plot told averagely. Or something.
