no, it's retail 6 daytona game.  demo is out on ps3 now, probably xbox live tomorrow.  full game is on the 15th.
Where is this "daytona" crap coming from? Does it just mean US$10?

Wrapped up Case Zero, am moving directly to Case West. Just barely started this morning, but I'm playing with a save-file from ONLY playing the final boss with Sceneman. As such, Chuck is not at 5HP and 3 inventory slots, but is rather a brutal, powered-up madman! :rock

Frank and Chuck don't get along well. I like that. It's also NOT A MALL again, so that's good. Other than that, is there anything better than more Dead Rising?

I'm just trying to play stuff which will leave me free to play SAINTS ROW 3!!!!

I'm pretty sure Case West doesn't use any save data... you will always be at Level 40 or whatever.

yeah this is correct.
Ah, OK. That explains a lot. It seemed like a lot of PP for only having killed the boss and a couple zombies en route.

...Hopefully this doesn't f my savefile for the vanilla game, since I have to go back there.

Actually, waitaminnit, I have three distinct savefiles in Case West -- you just mean it doesn't start me over with 0 PP, right? It doesn't affect the other game's inventory, etc.

Child of Eden kind of breaks your hand on a controller.  I don't really get how you can both go for 100% kill rate and wait and only shoot once you've acquired 8 lock-ons to keep your combo (which you also have to do to the beat, which is pretty hard to detect!).  Stuff appears and then is GONE off the screen a second later.  I feel like I can either go for 100% kill rate by tap lock-on non-stop or go for combos to the beat with 8x lock-ons and get like 50% kill ratio.  I dunno, I like the game a lot but scoring well seems really tough.

I've never tried Child of Eden with a controller, but there are portions with the Move that are brutal.

Finished up the Ghost Ship in Vesperia (PS3). That section has the first PS3-exclusive boss fight, too.

The beat isn't hard to detect. Most of the time it's "1 - 2 - 3, shoot - 1 - 2 - 3, shoot"

Just keep replaying the levels. Most of the setups are designed around octolocks. 8 enemies will fly in, lock, count the beat and fire. Even the larger enemies usually take 8 hits to kill.

We're trying to establish a new, more solid currency in the wake of the global financial crisis.  Presently 1 Daytona = $10 US, but at one time, a Daytona traded for $60 US or even $5000 US.

Got 229m with Type 1 in Akai Katana Arcade just now. First time I used that character in Arcade since I just wanted the achievement for 1cc'ing the game with him, but I wound up getting #4 on his leaderboard anyway. :smug

I might just play a little more and get the western record with every character in every mode. I'm already like 80% of the way there...

Peace Walker HD looks pretty nice and 60fps, 5.1 sound, dual analogue, online play are all great additions.  I wish more PSP games were playable on PS3/X360 like this.

Maybe I should stop playing FF Type-0...

Rayman Origins demo was nice.  Unlike master demi I thought the demo was kind of hard 1p in the shmup stage because of bad checkpoints and crappy controls.  The swimming part was kind of iffy too.  But the actual platforming was really good.  I'm kind of interested, but it seems like a game that's a lot more fun (and way easier) in coop 2-4p.  So not sure how worth it the game will be for solo play.

The Ratchet & Clank All 4 One demo was worse for sure.  First of all, 30fps sucks for Ratchet, game feels slow.  Graphics are kind of bad too.  Gameplay is close to being Ratchet, but again, seems meant for 2-4p and so 1p feels kind of thrown in.  Pass.

Decided to play Type 2 in Akai Katana Arcade just now. Got a 226m clear, which got me #3 on his leaderboard. Yay. He's really hard to use well though, holy crap. His option locks on to everything, so it's hard to build ninja meter off of the popcorn enemies. And he's weak. Thankfully the balance between the three characters is a lot better in Zetsu.

1000/1000 in Blue Dragon (would have been bad if I didnt leave 360 grindan while I played Bully and Beyond Good and Evil)

1100/1100 in Lost Odyssey (easy, if you discount the fact that Treasure Trove can take upwards of 20 hours)

I played a little bit of MGS Peace Walker via the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection last night.  Wow, what a difference the remapped layout/dual analog control makes.  It's so much more playable now and feels so much smoother.  I tried it again on PSP after it found it hard to go back, although the way Boss moves is different.  The Gears-like walk/run is gone on the HD Collection.

Transfarring was easy to set up, although I did have one slight problem- To use the this feature, you have to copy a Peace Walker save from a memory stick.  In other words, if you're a PSP Go user and you only have a game save on the PSP Go's internal memory with no memory stick available, you're shit outta luck and can't copy the data over.   :lol  The data transfer process is great though.  You just plug in a PSP when Peace Walker is on and can transfer back and forth.  No specific PSP firmware version required.

I can't remember which peace walker save is my most recent.  i think it's the one on my Go.  I guess I'll transfer it to my PC, then to my 3000, and then transfar it.

if vita x ps3 transfarring uses cloud saves, I might actually go for PSN plus.

Used my new and improved Akai Katana skills to go back and beat my old Zetsu scores. Ranked #2 or #3 with each character now, and I'm not too far from the world record with Type 3. Don't think I'll go for it though; it basically requires you to no miss the entire game while hitting every one of your strategies, and that's too much frustration for me.

Now I will finish the last couple chapters on El Shaddai. To be honest I think the combat is fairly enjoyable, but I think I'll just send it back after I finish my first play through anyway. Can't be bothered playing another 20 hours of a game I don't really like.

Outland is pretty boring.  I like that it's metroid/castlevania-ish and the platforming is fun with the Ikaruga mechanic but the combat is so bothersome and bland.  There's too much of it too.  And the silhouette is more distracting and it's getting tired.

No idea, but I doubt it given that PSP save data has never worked for the different regions/versions of the same game.

First impression of MOVE:

It's like waggle except even less accurate and you need to re-calibrate it every game, every time you play!  If you spend enough time in the calibration it's probably about on par with waggle.

Dead Space Extraction is pretty cool, though I wish the camera was stationary and not bouncing around, which makes it harder to stay steady and aim.

Child of Eden motion controls are lol.  It's not that bad, but shooting down all the tracers quick enough with enough accuracy is even TOUGHER with motion controls.  If they wanted to make it casual motion control (Kinect/Move) friendly, they should've made the game easier!

Echochrome ii is cool but there's absolutely no reason this couldn't have been playable with a control and been just as good

Infamous 2 controls ok with move.  Shooting is pretty good, camera is less good.

I really like the Infamous 2 move controls.  It gives you more control than playing with the dual shock.  Only issue is how sensitive it is when aiming (small dead zone, no aim assist).

Ok, so Outland is boring. I bought it with Serious Sam so I wasn't sure if it was merely a victim of contrast or if it was just dull on is own.

I bought Outland because I assumed it was a linear action-platformer, like the demo suggests. But the full game is more about exploring the levels and finding hidden junk I guess, so I got bored after the first few bosses and stopped playing. I don't think it's bad though; it's competently made, I just find it mostly boring.

Finished Child of Eden and I got say I was a little disappointed.  It started off good, "hey this is Rez 2" but by the end it's nowhere near Rez's quality.  Like in Rez the final stage is goddamn amazing journey through evolution of life on the planet with great music.  The final stage in Eden is...a megaman-ish boss fight rehash and then a orb with some junk around it and then a tree and it takes 20 freaking minutes.  What a boring sendoff.  The stages, despite being only 10 mins or so (except for the final stage), feel much longer because they feel padded out with grindy bosses and repetitive sections (the "shoot the satellite panels for instance goes on and on and on).  The pacing and just lack of being awesome really hurts the replayability for me because I'm not really inclined to do that again (I did all the stages at least twice).

And then the music is just not as good.  The entire game seems like 2 genki rockets songs used repeatedly with mixes of them, which makes a whole lot of the game and different stages all sound the same.  It doesn't have that distinct musical feel that Rez had.  Also ...I don't even think the genki rockets songs are that good!  You can only here "FLY AWAAAAY" so many times before you want to jump out the window.

And even a lot of the stage design and patterns seem like a Rez rehash (running guy; but now there's two!) or just lazy like the final stage.  Some of the tracer patterns were annoying.  I hated how bullets flying at you could be outside the screen and you have to actually move your view just to get them into view.  When you're busy shooting stuff on the screen sometimes you don't notice the little arrow that HEY YOU'RE ABOUT TO GET HIT BUT YOU CAN'T SEE IT.  The game should have had a locked view like most rail shooters.  Being able to tilt your view around was unnecessary.

The control was alright.  I didn't think either the controller or MOVE was great.  The movement speed is a little slow on the controller and on MOVE well, trying to reach things on the outer edges can be difficult or being fast.

The visual design was solid.  Some really nice looking sections.  The 3d effects in the game are actually pretty great.  Since a lot of time you're flying down tunnels and the added depth is pretty cool.  Game still looks good without 3d, but it's definitely one of the few 3d > 2d games I've played.

For $20, was fine.  I liked parts of it and I'm glad they at least tried to make a Rez 2, but it feels really forced, like no one actually wanted to make a Rez 2 and so in the end it's just kind of ok and not a memorable experience like Rez is.

??? Constantly chaining 8x octolocks at every opportunity was incredibly fun for me, but I guess we will have to agree to disagree. Never seen a shooter where the music was so important before.

Anyway, I think I'm done with Akai Katana Shin for now. I'm not happy with a couple of my scores, but I think I'm at least in the top 5 in every mode with every character, so I'm satisfied for now. There's also one achievement I have left (complete the game without using nenshin), but I honestly can't be bothered playing shooters solely for survival any more. It's boring compared to playing for score.

I was going to try to start learning Daifukkatsu 1.5 next (Power mode + scoring), but I really don't want to put up with my J360 any more. I think I'll go with Espgaluda II instead. I have trouble with games that have really top-heavy scoring though. Like, I played DOJBL for let's say 40-50 hours, and all I have is a measly 220m up to 2-1. The world record is about 14x that. Shit's soul-crushing.

CHECKIN IN TO WAT U PLAYIN THREAD

Lord of the Rings: War in the North (PC) - Finished this game on Normal @ 10 hours. First two hours are pretty bad imo, but after that you get 8 hours of something that is fun MOST of the time. A few scenarios are retardedly unfair at times but persistent folks will get past it. Worth 40 dollars, not 60 imo.

Dragon Age: Online (X360) - 24 hours in, DEEP ROADZ TIME. Killin dudes, getting loot- harassing Wynn about Griffons.

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (PC) - 2 hours in and its a lot of fun. Fallout meets Elder Scrolls. No harm in Bethez taking what they learned from their last two games and makin something cool beans.

-Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 (PS3): Getting my ass kicked all over, but am having fun learning the new characters.
-Metal Gear Solid HD Collection (PS3): Peace Walker specifically.  It's so much better with the new controls.
-Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 3 (360): Having fun online with friends.  The new mode where you have to grab dogtags to confirm kills is a nice addition, and prevents camping too!
-Super Mario 3D Land (3DS): Holy shit!  A 3DS game that's not a port?  And a Mario game I'm enjoying as much as the good ol' 8-bit and 16-bit days!?   :o
-Skyrim (360): Picked this up with leftover trade-in credit I had.  Reminds me of more Oblivion, which was more Morrowind.  Will be shelved until after Saint's Row.

Tomorrow I'm getting Sengoku Basara 3 Utage (PS3), then Tuesday is Saint's Row The Third (360) and double-dipping with Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 (360).

MGS HD COLLECTION: no snake v monkey, no outtake theater, NO SNAKE SKATEBOARDING = SHIT PORT

just kidding its awesome.  games look soooo much better now its insane.  mgs2's textures can look pretty muddy, but most of the game uses simple textures so its ok.  3 could be this gen if it had better textures, and peeping thru the grass is way easier now in hi-rez.  unfortunately not really any changes to content (still no pausing during cutscenes wtf) but the games are just as fun as ever.  havent touched peace walker yet since ive never played it before and saints row three has just ONE MORE DAY til release, but 2&3 seem to be perfect ports.  pt is happy

also obligatory LOL CUTSCENES.  been awhile since embarrassment kept me from playing a game til my s.o. left the house
