Played some more Vanquish, finished the first 3 acts. Still am in love with the game.

How long is Peace Walker? I haven't played that one on PSP, but picked up the collector's edition for PS3.

~15-30 hours.  It's more of an rpg length and pacing-wise.  Lots of "missions"

FF Type 0 is structured really similar to PW.

My Launch PS3 just died.  Was playing Dead Space Extraction and then BOOM like a power outage the whole thing shuts off.

Don't care about it's death since I'm used to systems dying now and PS3s are a lot cheaper these days with huge hard drives.

WHAT I DO CARE ABOUT, is not being able to get my dead space 2 disc out of the damn system!  I still need to play DS2 and finish Extraction!

Also, care about saves a bit since I was in the middle of Dark Souls, Tales of Xillia, and a few other games.  And I guess I'm not playing Uncharted 3 online since despite not having played the game yet I registered the online pass to this system, the day I got U3 :\  I have a feeling activations are going to fuck me on a few things.

RIP your launch PS3, Bebpo.  Are you sure that using your PSN ID on a new system won't let you get that online pass back?  What about taking all the data from the old PS3 HDD and backing it, then transferring it to the new HDD?

Fusion: Genesis.

This game rules.  SpaceshipRPG.  kinda like Armada for DC, kinda like Space Rangers.  Under documented so a lot of it is really confusing.  Lots of experimentation to get optimal results.  Fun game, but really only built for a certain kind of gamer.

I was going to get Need for Speed: The Run, but the two-hour length of the singleplayer put me off.

I'll stick with Forza 4 and Daytona for now.

Meanwhile, I'll probably break out NBA Jam: On Fire Edition tonight.

I think I finally understand how scoring works in Espgaluda 2. Best run so far is 116m up to stage 5, which is crap, but at least I think I know what I'm doing. Now I just need to figure out/steal some scoring strategies and get to work. I guess I'd like to aim for a 400-500m clear, but I'm not sure what a good score actually is just yet.

oh yeah, and the Galuda 2 Black Label soundtrack is godlike. I think Umemoto would've been able to surpass Namiki eventually if he hadn't died in his prime. Such a shame.

I've been playing ... Metroid Prime 2.  Something clicked and I'm kinda digging it now.  I think back in (04?) when I tried playing the first time there were so many hostile mechanics as to be offputting. In addition Agon Wastes is a terrible first impression. Yet the past week I've been chipping away at it with a satisfying mental momentum.
That is until I ran into this giant swimming turd boss.  He has this frustrating small window for damage at the end of his ram attack which always homes in, which means I didn't avoid most of the ram attacks.  Which meant I got game over.  Which meant I had to repeat an entire level segment worth of machinations just to die to him again.  Rinse and repeat.

What's worse is that after I beat him I got hopelessly lost and had to look up how to proceed.  Turns out I missed some bomb slot tucked away in a dark corner underneath an extremely murky pond.  Goddamnit Retro.

This game is definitely an acquired taste.

I was not a fan of the change to ammo and the dark world sort of just became ugly radioactive world that was not nearly as interesting to me. Otherwise, it was awesome.

Anyone have some impressions of Costume Quest?

that place was the bomb. Man, I'd kill so much time there if it was still open today. They had such a good selection on side scrolling BEU's. There's like, 3 coin op machines I know about in the city. Aro Chips had Sengoku 3 on their Neo Geo cab but I havent been in there for awhile. Rice Bowl in Newtown has Alien vs. Predator which is beast as fuck, but the cabinet is fucked. Still fun to bang on while waiting for chips at 1am.

God, after 2 or 3 days of playing Espgaluda 2, I finally figured out that your zesshikai 500x chains are tied to the amount of gems AND gold you have left. Suddenly, everything makes sense.

I need to start practicing stages 5 and 6 now... I think I've got my strategies pretty much set for 1-4. Hopefully I'll get a 300-350m clear whenever I beat this bitch.

My son has totally been sucked in by Lego Star Wars, so we're doing that. I've been sick this week (possibly related?), so I've been going to bed early. My gaming week has been LSW only. Seriously, Traveler's Tales can make a good game, the Finding Nemo game was great for its day. Then they hit Lego-era and appear to have quit trying.

The first LSW was novel. The sequel LSW, Lego Batman, and Lego Indiana Jones, they're all THE SAME GAME. For a toy which inspires such incredible creativity, the videogame version of it has been coasting since the first entry. Even the save/load flow appears to be holdout from the PS2 era.

At least I hear they've fixed the camera for Lego Harry Potter. Playing LSW with my son, I can't tell you how frustrating it is to be cast off from a platform because he's exploring something else. When he moves, the camera moves, and it will "shove" my character around to keep him in the shot, sometimes frequently causing him to fall to his death. The Harry Potter version no features an as-needed splitscreen, which merges once characters return to the same region.

The best "plastic brick" game out there is Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts. That's what a Lego game should have been.

Bought Halo Anniversary CE the other night when it came out.  I'm actually really enjoying it.  The difference between the old graphics and the new when pushing the back button is amazing.

Checked out CoD:MW3 today from work because we finally got a used copy of it in.  The campaign is alright, the online play is not so great to me.  This may be one that has to grow on me a little bit.

Played through a few hours of L.A. Noire the other night and really enjoyed it.  For it being a one-time playthrough game, it's really not that bad.

Juggling all sorts of games at the moment:

Skyrim - GOTY. Absolutely fantastic game that may even eclipse Morrowind as my favorite of the series. There's just so much to do, I'm constantly getting distracted by, well, everything. I can't get enough.

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 - Yeah, it's shitty that Capcom threw out a new version of the game nine months after the original but I play MvC3 all the fucking time so $40 for balance changes, new characters, stages and improved online? No brainer for me. I'm still terrible, getting my ass kicked online but the new characters are pretty much all fun as hell.

Super Mario 3D Land - The reason I shelled out $250 (lol) for a 3DS and I couldn't be more pleased. I'm only a little bit in (just beat the fourth world) but the game is fun as hell and classic, if relatively easy, Mario gameplay. The mixture of 2D and 3D Mario gameplay mixes much better than I thought it would and this is the first game where I've been impressed with the 3D (the 3D gimmick rooms are cool as hell).

Assassin's Creed: Revelations - By far getting the least playtime out of any of the games I'm playing at the moment. It's definitely good but I think I'm worn out on the franchise after a game a year for the past few years. The new systems are underwhelming and in some cases just not all that much fun.

I still have to pick up Rayman Origins (the demo was fantastic so I'm sure the game will be too) and I'll probably get Zelda but my hype is probably the lowest it's ever been for a Zelda game. I'll buy it because it's Zelda but I can definitely wait a little while.

Oh, and I also want to pick up Saints Row 3, love the sense of humor it has and I'm certainly down for some crazy ass GTA gameplay.

I'm afraid to even play it.  Kirby games are always like "what's the point".  It's a platformer with no challenge at all.  And it's not like Zelda or something where there's other things like story/exploration to make it worth the experience even with no challenge.

Canvas Curse was awesome though.

Anyhow, I barely game much these days.  Takes me about a month to finish the few games I start each month.  Here's what I'm playing now:

Trials of the Sky FC - Just started chapter 3 of 4.  Game picked up dramatically at the end of Chapter 2.  Already liked it, just wasn't super into it.  More interested now.  Goal is to finish this and Witcher 1 so I can start up on their sequels early next year.

Mario 3DS - Finished World 1.  It seems very samey, but it's Mario and it looks nice and is fun.  I don't like the 3DS analog much, but at least it's better than no-analog or the psp nub.

Zelda SS - On the pre-dungeon area before Dungeon #3.  Still like it, though at this point I've accepted it's just like every other console Zelda since OoT: UPs and DOWNs, UPs and DOWNs.

If I'm lucky I'll knock those 3 out by the end of the month and maaaaaaybe have time to fit in Uncharted 3 (if I replace my broken PS3) before FFXIII-2 (again, only if I replace my broken PS3).  If I don't fix my PS3 December is all about BATMAN PC version & Saints Row 3 PC.

No, that's just this version.  #3 and #15 are fucked up because they messed up the grip physics.  #3 isn't too bad unless it's on hard time attack.  #15 is the one that pisses you off on its head.

'this' version as in the HD version? because I hated it on the PS2 too.  I actually stopped playing because of the 15th Colossi.  Months later I went back and finally finished it, but it's just terrible.  It doesn't even have one of those cool moments where the music picks up and you're expected to do some crazy stunt around the giant, like jumping on the Wing of 13.

Yeah, PS3 version has slightly different physics which makes it harder to get a grip on #15's head to get a stab in.  It's really annoying and makes it take far longer than it should.

This week/weekend- Skyrim is on the backburner until I have a bigger block of time I think.

Rayman Origins: A lot of fun and really challenging. Has that super meat boy approach though so its not so bad. Also very nice to look at.

Dragon Age Origins: Finished deep roads- brood mother fight was tedious- golem fight kind of easy for some reason- all my dudes had swords too lol. All thats left is Denerim then the boring boss fight then expansion time woot.

Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3: Enjoying this more than I thought I would considering its so shameful in its MILKING

Halo Reach: replayin through those crazy Halo games.

Beat SOTC and Vanquish, last nite was over my friend's playing some Ultimate MVC3... I like it much better than the original so far, will put it on the Xmas list.

*Finally* finished my first and only playthrough of El Shaddai. Pretty sure this is the worst game I've played all year (it's a tossup between this and Duke). The level design in particular is absolutely horrible; almost every stage is nothing but barren, straight corridors and an occasional platforming segment, with a few designated combat areas where you fight a few waves of repetitive enemies. The combat is shallow and simplistic, bosses have about 100x more health than they should, and there's about 15 enemies in the game (including bosses) that they recycle over and over. Needless to say, I think the game is trash.

I'd give it a 3/10 if I were feeling generous.
