BC1 was fun, SP was set in open maps- you could approach objectives from however you liked-generally. The writing/characters were also a lot more fun. Worth playin imo.

Dont worry Bebpo, all Battlefield campaigns are crap. It's not a single player game.

Have you played Battlefield 3, Bebpo?  coming from someone who enjoyed BC2, Battlefield 3 is fucking terrible.

and Bad Company 1, and even the earlier Modern Combat game on 360, had more at least more interesting single player campaigns.  They more and more modeled it after Call of Duty instead of embracing the open sandbox, which BC1 at least attempted.  Go back to it or just model it after Crysis 1.

Actually I just bought Battlefield 3 and I'm playing the BC2 campaign because I want to play it before the BF3 campaign so I'll be blown away by the BF3 campaign on the much better graphics engine.

I get the feeling I'm doing this wrong.

Here is my military FPS respawn shooting galleries backlog of campaigns I have not touched:

-Bad Company 2
-Battlefield 3
-CoD WaW
-CoD Black Ops
-Modern Warfare 3
-Medal of Honor

I plan to play them eventually.  Some because they have really nice graphics on PC (basically all except WaW).  I have a feeling most are going to be pretty sucky.  Especially compared to non-military FPS games like FEAR2, Metro 2033, Hard Reset, Cryostasis, Stalker games, etc... that I also need to play.

Hey, I'm still playing ZELDA and TRAILS OF THE SKY and MARIO along with Hamilton's Great Adventure (quirky western) and Battlefield BC2.  I keep my balance of wacky jappy and bro games.

Actually getting close to beating Trails of the Sky FC.  Maybe then it'll get good so I can start the next game since I bought the trilogy pack.

Hey demi, you know how the Resistance 3 corrupted data bug fucked you over?  Well it might fuck me over BIG time; I'll see in a bit.  Since my PS3 died and I got a new one I'm doing the data transfer thing to move over all my saves (including locked ones) and accounts.  However when it hits that corrupted data it might screw up the whole thing and there's no way for me to get rid of it.  Will know in an hour or so.

The data transfer app crashed but I was able to delete the corrupt R3 data in like 2 mins (I guess because I did a safe mode file system restore earlier); trying again.  If it crashes still, I need to manually move my saves on a stick one at a time :\

And I need to buy PSN+ on the Japan PSN store so I can move my dark souls save to the cloud and back :|  /fingers crossed it works.

All Tales are like that.  I'm 6-7 hours into Xillia and don't even have 1 trophy yet.

Anyhow, glad you liked it.  I really like the first half about Yuri bringing justice, but don't care for the 2nd half of the game about collecting summons and fighting some lame villians and non-bosses much.

A SF2 arcade would cost like $5000 and you got it for free on your computer? :o

nowadays: "This complete romset of every arcade game ever released in the history of gaming is taking way longer than the 20 minute estimated download time.  Preorder canceled."

Need for Speed: The Run is more fun than it has any right to be. It needed more rural areas, though, those are great to look at and provide a good break from the urban areas.

I played Vesperia for about 45 hours and ended up with 50% of the trophies.

I love long RPGs, but I don't really have the time for them anymore. Took me a month and a half to get through Vesperia.

I'd go back but I'd be totally lost.  Games need dynamic tutorials for these situations.

I like long jrpg once I'm in them, but knowing how long a game makes me anxious because of how bad my ocd can be.  I didn't think Dark Souls would last 60+ hours for me on one run because I heard 20, and Demon's Souls was a lot shorter.  If I knew I don't know if I would've started it.  It's one reason I can't start Skyrim yet; New Vegas took like 60+ hours too.  Or Persona 4, Xenoblade (when I get around to importing it), and other games.

Dark Souls is 60 hours?  I thought it was ~20 like Demon Souls?  I can't imagine there being that many bosses/areas left past where I left off which felt around 50% through at 10 or so hours.

Anyhow Vesperia and all Tales games do have what you're looking for.  It's called "SUMMARY OF EVENTS".  You can boot up a Tales game whenever and read up to refresh where you are and what you're doing.  The gameplay doesn't need refreshing since they all play the exact same with OOO, X,X, finisher.

I rang the first bell ~2-3 hours in at the top of the church after the dual gargoyles.  Then went down and beat Capra Demon ~4-5 hours in and was blowing through The Depths.

I don't get how these games can be long.  The length is just the time it takes learning the stages and patterns.  Once you know them you can run through an area in 5-10 mins and beat it and there's only a dozen or so areas, right?  I took a look at the wiki for the list of areas before I stopped and it seemed like I'd done about half of them in 10 hours.

it's a better game than I remember...don't get to say that too often about old arcade games.  Lots of enemy variation in the first stage, great music, lots of different weapons and items, branching paths.  It's like a spiritual prequel to Magic Sword.

and it had the upslash and downstab before zelda!  It's basically Conan the Barbarian 16bit side scroller.

The Circle K across the street from my house as a kid had a Rastan machine for a long time. I used to walk over and play it from time to time. What a great game. I ended up getting it for my Amiga later on, but it wasn't the same.

The same Circle K got Rygar later on. Never got to play it.

I checked out the first 15-20 mins or so of Ni no Kuni PS3 the other day and lol, it really is a word-for-word 1:1 remake of the DS game at least at the beginning.  Whose brilliant idea was it to release a remake of the same game 6 months later, especially when the original wasn't well received.  When I hear that the PS3 version has a "odd lack of voice acting at times" it sounds like they didn't even bother going back to the studio for the PS3 version to record more lines and just lifted all the voiced dialogue from the DS game and did text-only for any new dialogue additions.

When it comes down to it, I'd rather play the nice cell-shaded looking HD with the DQ9 world map version on a 50" tv than the 2d DS version on a tiny screen; but still makes no sense.  I thought the idea between the games was to make two completely separate titles using the same world/mythology.

Depends how much side content/exploration/pvp/etc. you do in Dark Souls, but I'd say the game is at least twice as long as Demon's Souls. Maybe 3x.

Also, I've nearly finished the first Phoenix Wright. Just got done with Turnabout Goodbyes. I think I'll keep playing visual novels on the side like this, since I liked 999 as well.

I usually try to fully explore every area, but I don't do any pvp at all.  Wow @ the game being 2-3x the size of Demon Souls.  Sounds like a lot of content.  I didn't expect that since the Wiki only lists around the same number of "stages/areas" as Demon Souls had.

I've died a many deaths when I played this back on my C64. I could never get past the boss at the end of 3-2. I didn't end up playing the arcade version until many years laters and remembering being stunned how well that game looked compared to its C64 port. I also blew through the arcade one much easier due to more responsive controls and hit detection.

Still love the music.

I didn't care much for the second game but the third game, Warrior Blade, was a fantastic beat'em up with an epic scope.

for some perspective, the place you mentioned you're at in 10 hours, I was at in maybe 14 hours.  Still took me 60 hours, and of that maybe 5 or 6 hours was PVP and an hour of grinding.

I am interested in this

i'll see if i have it, but I have nostalgia glasses for P.O.W.  Loved the concept as a kid-- breaking out of a POW camp and killing the entire enemy army with your bare hands and few weapons.

Ironically, the PSP re-dub doesnt have this dialogue. Alucard now says "how about this" for no reason. The entire game is re-dubbed with different voices. It's not as bas as the Akira re-dub but you get what I mean

yeah, instead of realizing that fans love the bad VA's charm, Konami tried to make it "good" and failed miserably, without any of the cute charm.

I don't think I'll ever understand why Spyro and Crash were popular.

Crash is like Donkey Kong Country in 3D.  Controls feel so sloppy and you're running through insipid levels fighting generic animals enemies, breaking boxes and collecting shit.  And the presentation of both is garish.  I can excuse dated swimming textures (or just the uggo DKC sprites), but Crash is just like...I don't know.  I get to a save spot and there's a female Crash, except her body has human proportions while Crash is just a giant head.  It's just like DKC and the humanoid bimbo monkey thing.  And I can't tell if something is wrong with the audio and music.

I liked all the PS2 platformers from Naughy Dog and Insomniac, but their PS1 games always seem bad whenever I try them.  Spyro is just boring; the only good one is for the GBA.  PS1 even had better platformers like Jumping Flash.  Well I guess you can say the same about SNES.

wait wait wait wait, Crash was good!

Naughty Dog have always been (well maybe not on 3d0) very good game designers with tight gameplay and good level design.  The crash games exemplified that.  I replayed some of Crash 1 a few years ago on PSP and it still was really solid pure platformer.  Crash/Jak were good platformers.

I couldn't get into Spyro though.  Thought it was boring as well.
