that would explain why she dropped an item but weird it's presented as a person invaded. ah well! is the butcher knife any good? i'd been using the drake sword for ages, then revisited the undead asylum and got a dark knight sword and it's been fine but suspect i should be using the upgrade system by now

In addition to the ton of F2P stuff I've been playing and documenting in a new F2P thread, I've also just finished the first chapter of The Walking Dead Telltale game. It was a good ride, with only a couple weird moments.

At the hotel, I was certain that I'd have to use the pillow to lessen the noise of breaking the truck window. Using it to have someone else muffle a gunshot was a bit too Oldschool Adventure Game Nonsensical, but not as much as using a sparkplug to break the window afterward.

Apparently, this is what the "Moms are tough" line is in Japanese:

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=46585248&postcount=16

Quote
The Japanese version had a better line:
"Women may be weak, but mothers are strong."

I imagine they didn't want to offend westerners with the first half of that.

Rayman Origins > Any NSMB game

Origins isn't a perfect game by any means but it is fantastic.  I don't have much hope for Legends though :(

Edit: Halfway through Samurai Warriors Chronicles for the 3DS.  I really like this game.  The biggest strength here is that there is a shitload of content to work your way through.  Looks like there's a total of 37 stages, some of them I recognize from other Samurai Warriors games, including 3.  Another great strength here is that you can switch to another general using the touch screen.  Works great if you want to switch to the other side of the map to hunt down an escaping officer.  The downside is that the game recognizes this and sets up a lot of difficult missions that are hard to get at unless your character happens to be in the right area.  As a result, you're probably going to fail a couple of missions.  However, unlike some of the previous Musou games, the stages will generally take 20-30 minutes at most.  Turning the 3D off gives a nice framerate boost but I usually turn it on for the sequences between stages.  A real solid effort here from Omega Force.

Beat this game.  Clocked in at 19 hours 8 minutes.  I read some thread on GameFAQs about how it takes about 190 hours to max everything out.  Fuck that amirite?  Surprisingly full of content and very well done for a handheld game.

Debating between playing Virtue's Last Reward or Code of Princess next.

Ended up playing Code of Princess or shall I say Code of Uguu? :uguu

The game can be best described as functionally average.  I went into the options to mute the voices first off.  The lead character is Solange, who is a princess and is probably the most scantily clad princess out there.  Extra effort was spent making her big anime titties jiggle and in spite of wearing armor, covers very little.  You unlock other characters as you progress through the story.  The game is split up into numerous small scale battles that take 2-3 minutes each.  Most battles are pretty shallow, just keep poking away at the enemies, use your MP if your HP is getting uncomfortably low, and use the triggers to switch between multiple planes to fight enemies.  There are some combos available that mix things up a bit.  The 3D effect is actually pretty nice but in stages where there are a lot of enemies and the screen is zoomed out, it gets choppy.

Get this if/when amazon.com sells it for $15.

I've jumped back into Oath in Felghana on PC. I bought it back during one of the Steam sales last year, but it got lost in the shuffle for a while. Anyway, not a whole lot to say about the game, it's Ys pure and simple, which I'm more than fine with.

Not long. I played 2 chapters on Wednesday night, 1 on Thursday, 1 on Friday, and 1 today. I think each took me bout 2-3 hours except for episode 4. It felt much longer than the others.

The best Ninja Theory game so far. Not saying much, I know, but this reboot rocks. The new Dante is cool.

I'm sick, and fortunately off tomorrow for MLK day, so I didn't play much this weekend apart from some SFxTK Vita and Tekken 3DS.  Just slept, watched movies, and watched a bit of the SCR 2013 tournament.  The DOA5 finals were pretty boring (and there were like two people there watching, lol) but there was some good stuff in Marvel and SSF4 from what I watched.  SFxTK 2013 stuff was nice too.

Looking forward to the DOA5 patch this week on PS3.  Hope it brings more players in/back, but I doubt it.  If not, the 360 patch is next week anyway.

Started up Super Mario 3d land. Pretty boss shit. I'd really like to play more 3d platformers, pity theres very few on the 360

The "forced" gyro aiming shit is what really turned me off.  Yeah, you can just use the analog stick for aiming...but it sucks.  How did they fuck up something so simple?

Still playing Giana Sisters Twisted Dreams here and there.  If I have 30 mins of time to kill or can't sleep in the middle of the night I'll do a level.  The game is definitely cheaply hard at certain checkpoints and the controls could be more precise, but I gotta give it that the game features some of the best level design at parts that I've seen in a platformer since Mario Galaxy 1.  These guys know how to make good platformers, they just need an editor to fix sections that are not good.

Also playing Assassin's Creed 3 and just running around doing all the side stuff now that the game has opened up.  The way you uncover the map is AWFUL and game is so glitchy.  But I still kind of like it for the ambition.  Can totally see how the game is a clusterfuck and needed another year in the oven, but don't hate it.

And playing SRW 2nd OGs and it's gorgeous and a solid srpg.  Not much to say beyond  that.  Still early on, around 15 maps in out of a 100ish and each takes an hour including the story parts before & after.

i still believe Bend willingly fucked it up so the gyro could have some use.

i just do it COD style with its auto aim (constantly clicking the shoulder button so it sticky aims then continue from there) and if i have time i might use the gyro.

Put in Halo 4 for the first time this year hoping to see some updates to the playlist. Nope, nothing. Same stuff (well there is 1 new playlist) and same crummy map rotation. I really don't believe 343 thought it would be a good idea to limit it's ctf to just 4 maps and then it's really just 2 as 95% of the time whenever Ragnarok is up it will be chosen. I'm surprised people put up with it. It's a shame, it's a solid game, but I really hate the maps ctf got dealt with and want some actual variety.

It's said that next week a new update will come out. Hopefully it does something.
