I think the job system licks goat compared to 5, because every job pretty much sucks. I think FF1 has a better job system.

I just started the Dancer chapter. I play it at work, lol.

Been playing some Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus and its alright so far.

the 30fps is dissapointing but the game is still really playable, though "slower",  plus i guess they needed that drop so those ninja trial fights can work holy shit  :o

Not a fan of the rachel section i played either but i'll give it more time to see if her fighting will click.

She gets a bad rap.  That move where you roll over and stagger the enemy makes for some fun set ups.  She has some neat combos.   You can get into a Ryu-like flow with her where you're just kicking ass while completely in the enemy's face with her.

also, she can pull down the chandeliers in the monastery with that wrist shot

I put in a little more time into Ragnarok Odyssey and unlocked the ability to change classes. I'm going to play around with the classes and see which I like. The game seems too fond of swarming you with enemies and it's starting to get annoying. I don't think the controls are good enough to effectively manage large crowds but maybe I'm just bad at it :-\ The game is at it's best one on one

Too much Tropico 4. Though the game is really giving me fits with my inner desire to lay out everything in symmetrical grids due to the road/building placement system.

My character is probably also the worst alcoholic pompous Marxist author considering how poor wages, housing, social services, etc. all are on every island as she chases that sweet sweet export and tourist money.

Then again, maybe that's the most realistic aspect of all.

i've put 17 hours into Warlock and I think I'm about done with it.

very glad i only paid about $6 for it
The Civ-like game? I played the demo last weekend because of that Paradox deal and couldn't really decide on it, even though it was $2.50 I wound up convincing myself I should play some other crap first. The monsters and stuff were kinda annoying in the demo. Couldn't really figure out the building/expanding territory system all that well either.

I have 66 hours in Stronghold Kingdoms. It's not a hardware intensive game (more like Age of Empires III) so it's easy to have it run in the background while I work on homework or surf the web. It's kind of a strange castle/village management game where your best friend / worst enemy are the people in your parish (team). Seriously, our last parish leader was afk constantly and we got attacked nonstop by other parish's.

Yeah, sounds like a facebook game but it's free so...

Dunno if it's still going on, but Amazon was letting you connect your Kingdoms account and get Stronghold HD for free.

You "buy" this and connect your account: http://astore.amazon.com/thbo09f-20/detail/B0083LD2TE

Then when you go to buy HD, it should give you a credit that makes it free: http://astore.amazon.com/thbo09f-20/detail/B009YKVRYA

If the credit doesn't show up when you go to checkout on HD log into Kingdoms and let it just sit for a minute or so on the menu, then exit and the credit should show up. You don't have to download the client from Amazon or anything, I did it with the Steam version.

EDIT: Oops, guess it's over:
Quote
From now until February 5, 2013, buy any "Stronghold Kingdoms" in-game currency, the "Mighty Castle Pack", or the "Stronghold Kingdoms" base game and get "Stronghold HD" ($5.99 Value) for free.
Sorry about that.  :(

I hate it when games say "unsaved progress will be lost" when you quit.  what? just save it when I quit or tell me what falls under unsaved progress so I can go do a main mission or something to save.  A rare game will let you manually save, but if you quit immediately after, it'll still say "unsaved progress will be lost." what progress? so vague

This is what I hate most about The Walking Dead. It saves often enough, I guess, but there are times when I really don't want to go through the next five or ten minutes of dialogue just to catch back up to where I left off.

Guh, I hate that, too. Especially for games that don't allow for manual saves at all and just use random checkpoint saves. I don't want to keep playing until the game decides that it's time to save, I want to save my progress right now and quit!!

I agree, this is pretty annoying.  then i have to wonder how far back it auto-saved or if it starts you at the beginning of the level/area regardless of where you save, etc.

I also have this big ass CRT sitting here so might set this bad-boy up and play some Mischief Makers on N64

Was playing some Hamilton's Great Adventure. Got upset because I had to restart an ENTIRE stage when I messed up and fell off. (They're like a minute or two long.)

So played a bit of SSFIV since I won it on SteamGifts and the download had just finished. Failed to get past the fourth guy.

In Tropico, a volcano wiped out all my farms and half my apartments and I have a huge debt.

derp, managed to copy over all my Vita PSP savedata with old backups from my PS3. Lost a 10 hour save for Dissidia, but thankfully that was the only PSP game I sunk significant time into since that last back up.

If the menu options were represented in large picture icons, I wouldn't have picked the wrong direction!   Totally not my fault :usacry

who the fuck honestly thought a good idea for a JRPG postgame was to farm different varieties of giant turtles for hours, as it was the only way to earn money, so that you can afford to create a bunch of useless items? FFXIII-2 >>>>>> FFXIII

Still, just one achievement left and almost there.

Up to the final dungeon of Ni No Kuni... not sure if I'm gonna go for the platinum, since I don't want to capture 150 more familiars and I am getting really sick of alchemy systems in RPGs and don't want to deal with that shit either. I'll probably grind a bit, do the postgame hunts and arena and then wrap it up.

Learn to parry, it's very easy in Bayonetta.  You can even mash it to get by those gigantic boss attacks.  That and some good roll timing will get you through Infinite Climax.  In a way, witch time is busted beyond belief and Infinite Climax is the real game :lol  but witch time is a lot of fun though.

If you really just want to get through it, items are also super busted and easily farmed.

Dead Island opens with a room full of people telling a 70 pound chinese woman to kill zombies immediately after she wakes up (from getting knocked out during a zombie attack).

Then I wander around for an hour kicking zombies, collecting stuff, doing menial quest and the like, looking for a way to save my game.  Menus don't say anything.  Went to all the icons on the map and those don't say anything.  Eventually I notice it does say "checkpoint" on the same list that tells you what you picked up, in the same font, and is pretty much always busy and moving.  Quit nearby a quest destination because I wanted to stop playing.  Loaded up the game later, and while my progress is saved, it resets me back to the starting location.  Don't punish me for wanting to do something else!

I'm still holding out hope for a sequel, though I think it's not particularly likely.

The HD update is pretty good; I feel like it's running higher than 30 fps most of the time. The textures are likely the same as OG xbox version. The alpha'd textured sprites seem to have some clipping problems, so the Alpha Squadron is the enemy in this game in more ways than one. I've had one hard-lock crash, and one fall-to-infinity instead of fall-to-death bug, though I don't remember hitting ANY bugs during my PS2 playthrough.

I'm still really impressed with the game design on the whole. Controls are responsive, easy to move and strike in combat, and hard to die of something utterly stupid. It's a fun game with a heroic story arc which is supported by consistent gameplay. Shame it didn't sell better.

3 levels left in Giana Sisters TD.  Some of these levels ARGGHHHHHHH; it's like Trials all over again as a Platformer (wait, Trials was a platformer).

Still a cool game though.  Glad I stuck with it.  There's satisfaction found in progressing through an old-school challenging platformer for sure.  If only the controls and design were a little tighter it could be a 2d Maximo or something.

Found both a SNES and Genesis emulator on my PSP, well on the PSP i haven't played with in years. So I'm playing Run Saber and that game is too much fun.

It's a pretty good Strider clone, I got it from Play N Trade a few years ago. Released by Atlus in their dark-ages era. When they were more known for stuff like Rockin' Kats and motorcycle racing games than the weeaboo gods they now are.

Been playing a bit of The Cave with my trio of the Hillbilly, the Adventurer and the Twins. Currently at the Zoo section of the cave and trying to figure out what to do next with the tape recorder.

Been playing a little of Puzzle no Jelly and Puzzles and Dragons. Was playing more PAD, but been slowing down as its gotten a bit grindy. I really liked the tricolor dungeons in the special dungeon section. My Red/Green squad wrecked that area pretty hard.

Lots of Guild Wars 2 still. Got my Engineer up to 80 a week ago.
