What technique did you use? Do you just play and try not to die? I read that if you play on Hard, the game loops so you could potentially do it that way if you survive.

I just played normal on the default settings so I could upload my score to XBL. The trick is to get the XL medals on the first stage, as you probably know. Once you get that down (it took me a lot of practice) you'll have XL medals everywhere until you miss one, so you can really rack up points quickly. If you memorize each of the hidden Miclus and Fairy locations, you could break 100 mil well before the final level. That was my downfall; I only memorized the Miclus/Fairies for the first two or three levels.

Real Battle 2 or whatever it's called is what always fucks me up. You basically have to memorize the entire level start to finish and kill all the jets as soon as they spawn, or they'll fly to the bottom of the screen and shoot two of those fast moving yellow bullets at you. Shit is practically impossible to dodge, for me at least.

It looks good and they added more mini-games to do the quest parts. Since I hate the game I would never replay it, but if you like it, it's better than the X360/PS3 version.

Still plugging away at RE5. Just finished the first 2 chapters where I killed a bunch of sweaty inner city black dudes and now in chapter 3 it looks like I get to kill some ashy black guys of the ooga booga variety. The white man is laying waste to the motherland.

I have it on 360 and enjoyed it despite the many problems. The reason I decided not to go with this deal was remembering some of those problems, like long, boring unskippable cutscenes.

I started Mass Effect again. I'm doing an Ashley / Liara run on Normal. I wish I could find the Bring Down the Sky disc, or anyone who could send it to me.

I've never beat Mass Effect, maybe I can get farther than trying to actually rescue Liara.

I played some Tekken 5 DR and Soul Calibur IV today. I have the J-version of Tekken, so I can't play against American or European players online; it will only match up with Asian players, and there's very few online when I'm playing, plus the connections usually suck. Good thing Tekken 6 is next week!

Soul Calibur IV is always hilarious. Only in SC can I return to the game after long periods of inactivity, and proceed to get win streaks on distinguished mentally-challenged fellows who let me hit them with the same two moves over and over again. Listening to the swear words fly is fun!

I don't usually even try for achievements, and I have 645/1000. Never even touched the single player Tower Of Lost Souls mode. You'd still have to put in plenty of hours and play multiplayer though.

Most of the achievements seem to be related to unlocking stuff (which you do by acquiring gold, from winning matches offline and online) and performing a shit-ton of actions (200 impacts, 100 critical finishers, moving a certain amount of distance [so, playing shitloads of matches]). There's only a few things you need to do in multiplayer online. I guess it would be easy enough to boost if you could find someone to do that with. I think one of the cheevs is to reach level 20 in ranked though, and that's kinda random on who you fight against.

Most of the "hate mail" I get from people on SF4 anymore is oddly positive or a "thanks for not turtling".

There's plenty of good players too, but nothing fun to post about unless you beat them and they go crazy. There was a guy yesterday I played that's hardcore Soul Calibur; he beat the shit out of me with several people, then switched the same character I was using to "show me how it's done," I guess. Kept taunting after he'd hit me. So I beat him down the next round and just taunt over and over again. He beat me that match, but I couldn't stop laughing from the round I won.

There also one time where I beat a level 217 guy doing nothing but low kicks.

to get some hate mail! Been a long time! I get positive messages like in SF too, and usually send them as well. I got my ass kicked all over the place by this Abel player yesterday; he perfected me in the last round with his amazing offense, and I immediately sent him a message about it. He probably thought it was hate mail.

This morning, everything's working great, but I don't know why. Played some more Soul Calibur IV today. PS3 only this time.

There's some dude that's always on with a PSN account name with the word "Marvel" in it. Every single one of his custom characters is some iteration of a Marvel Comics character.

He's a pretty damn good player, but the kind that likes to "abuse" you in matches and kinda comes off like an asshole because of it.

Highlight matches were playing a Yoshimitsu player who was clearly much better than me, yet I got two rounds on him and we had a close fight in the last match. I was just doing dumb Lizardman stuff, and this guy all of a sudden "gets it" and goes into "pogo stick mode" and just hops around. I let him kill me; it was fucking hilarious. Then I played some random guy who picked Voldo, and for whatever reason, never blocked low. So I just hit him with low attacks the entire time, then he kicked me from the room.

The SCIV "scene" is already pretty small, and probably on life-support now. I wonder what these guys are gonna do when Tekken 6 comes out. If I see them on, it's gonna be revenge time.

I'm hunting for a sniper rifle in the Arid Hills now with my level 14 sniper. I don't know about GOTY but the game sure is a butt load of fun. Actually, this is the best game I've played so far this year (aside from Fallout 3 GOTY of course) but I kind of expect to get a shit ton of mileage out of Dragon Age in a couple of weeks.

You need the right DLC map packs for certain match types. It tells you which ones you need. One or two of them are free now, IIRC. If you have ODST, Halo 3 MP has everything...

Social Slayer is the unranked equivalent of the Team Slayer playlist. It will let you get by with just the free DLC. It generally has far more people on it, too, so (in theory) you should get into better games faster.

Sometimes I forget how much better PC games look/run than their console ports. Then I play Trine and remember it all again. Bah, it's perfectly playable on consoles, but should've just gone for the PC version. The demo was gorgeous and 60fps, the console version is lol

If I had a better computer, I definitely would have gone for the PC version. But the PS3 version is fine.
