Tekken 5 was boss so stfu
Tekken 5 rehash > Soul Calibur 4
There I said it.
I think most people would agree! Soul Calibur IV has plenty of issues, but I enjoy playing it regardless. I'm actually not too big on 3D fighters, but I've always found that series fun to play around in. Don't play or take it seriously, though, and its competitive scene has been drying up.
Yeah, from what I read, he is. Also, other negative things:
- The game is a jagfest if you play it with motion blur on (which is the default setting)
- Loading times
- You have to go through the brawler mode if you want to unlock the endings. Luckily this time all characters are unlocked from the beginning, so unless you care about Anna's ending you don't have to go through it (unless there are other benefits, like items and whatnot).
- 1 profile per game, only one character can have customized outfits.
...
Ok, maybe this game is not as good as T5.
The game is better than Tekken 5. The stupid single player brawler stuff? Maybe not, but only distinguished mentally-challenged fellows make a big deal over single player in a fucking FIGHTING GAME.

(KOF XII being the exception; it was so lacking that it deserved to be busted on for that)
I'd also like to know if the load times quoted are from people who installed the game, and of course, how the load times are when the game is installed on the 360.
So Tekken sucks like usual?
I wanted to give the series another chance since it's the most popular 3d fighter in the Japan arcade scene. But shoddy port ftllll
I really doubt it's a "shoddy port." You just have graphic whores freaking out is all. There are changes, but the feel of TK6 is close enough to TK5 that you can base interest on the game from the previous title. Did you like Tekken 5? If so, get 6. If not, TK6 certainly isn't going to change your mind.
The only Tekken that ever sucked was T4, Bebpo. The rest were stellars. T6 however is underwhelming a lot of fans, but the core gameplay and mechanics are sound and actually improved, unlike T4's.
Soul Calibur is a good game, but never been the better fighter.
It's funny; all the hardcore Tekken peeps hated 4, but I liked it, not being a big fan of the series. They actually made the game play feel a lot less stiff, and even now, if you go back and play it, everything feels pretty smooth. But there were some big issues with it, and of course Jin being massively overpowered...
people always diss every new tekken because it's the same old clunky tekken. i still like it and i have a soft spot for tekken force.
Tekken Force was at its best in Tekken 3 and Tekken 4. A fun little distraction. The Jin "brawler" in Tekekn 5 was fucking awful.
SFIV is the best fightan gaem.
Absolutely, but this is 3D fighting' gamin' discussion. Different animal.
The series has been on decline since Tag Tournament (
Tekken Bowl
)
T4 sucked and the series never really recovered after that. I still end up buying the games (I skipped DR though) even though I know I'm just playing a shell of what it used to be a decade ago. It is kind of like me and the Musou games.
LOL. Not only was Tekken 5/DR really popular, but ever since release, Tekken 6/BR has dominated the arcade charts and consistently beats the shit out of everything every month. In Korea, there's even a TV show dedicated to the arcade game play.
I liked Tekken 5/DR and have been waiting for Tekken 6 at home for like two years now. It's been too long since I played the arcade version for me to talk about the visuals, but I don't remember being impressed; they were solid and got the job done. That doesn't mean jack shit to me in fighting games. Soul Calibur IV definitely looks better though, if that matters to you.
Maybe the patch coming Tuesday (to unlock online play) will also make the motion blur default to off.

Also I disagree. CVS2 got a lot of attention for a couple of years. It was _the_ fighter to play; MVC2 got dissed as substanceless trash until people stopped playing both. I'd be down for a CVS3. I'd be down to play SNK vs. Capcom, even though I know the game isn't that great. The art style intrigued me.
MvC2 is still played in tournaments. CvS2 is not. I think the latter is far better, but I'd rather not play either in favor of Street Fighter.

Both of those games got overshadowed by 3rd Strike. MvC2 was never dissed as "substanceless trash," either. Shit's broken, but people have managed to salvage something from it. I'll never understand it myself.
Fuck 'em both though.
