I doubt this is a genre I will ever get into that I'd play a lot of them.  Before QB (which is supposed only be around 15 hours the first time through), I have enjoyed Military Madness on the TG-16 and a bit of Advance Wars on GBA.  That's about it.  The one I really wanted to play, Namco X Capcom, I always heard sucked, so I never bothered with it.
namco x capcom got a fantranslation but you heard right, both you and your enemies do plink damage and so fights drag on and on and on... if you have the patience maybe you could like it on the idea of the mashup alone and at the cameo but avoid at any cost otherwise

Metroid Prime Wii.

I love that out of all the things I forgot about this game, the morph ball three bomb jump trick is one that I'll always remember.

In the wii version, try flicking your wiimote.

edit: I downloaded the torchlight demo and reminded myself why I hate pc gaming so much.  Barf.

Aren't you playing tuftoo on a PC though?

What?

TF2

Won't run at anything I consider playable.

Mostly the same stuff.  Trying to collect all the treasures in Uncharted 2, looking to finish the third stratum of Etrian Odyssey, started a new game of Metroid NES, and picked out Punch Out!! on Wii as one of my current GameFly rentals.  Killzone 2 is in the mail.

AC 2 just came in on Gamefly. Hopefully I enjoy this one because despite liking the concept I never enjoyed the first.

I've Namco X Capcom, it's pretty identical to the SRW OG Saga gameplay, but only worth picking up for the insane amounts of Namco/Capcom fanservice.

i have spent the past several hours playing crackdown

i didn't really get it at first, but then it clicked

i love it

open world with an overall goal as opposed to a bunch of tiny annoying missions

it's fun to try to collect the orbs, something that really doesn't usually appeal to me

i tried to play some assassin's creed, but that just didn't do it for me.

alas.

Been playing AC 2 for most of the day. Enjoyable enough but I think at my core, I'm a GTA kinda of guy rather than a platforming sword fighting kind of guy which lessens my enjoyment. It's certainly an improvement from the first but something just isn't getting me pumped.

God of (Star) Wars: The Force Unleashed. Playing on Hard (not the unlockable super-hard) and the game is... HARD. With just a little more care in the camera, it would be a really fun game, but there are lots of times where I'm fucked by the camera. The most recent travesty is going against the Scrap Droid Titans or whatevs, during the junkyard jedi fight. The fight goes to a fixed angle, which would be fine except that your own character gets obscured if he goes behind the Titan, but if you keep to the near distances there are invisible walls which impede free movement just long enough for any one of half-dozen cheap shots to get through and take your last health.

Crackdown holds up really well, I was surprised. I also thought I'd be able to go back and easily pick up the racing Achievements, but NO. Good grief, I forgot that the car's condition dictates the performance. I was on lap 3 and with a decent lead when I whunged into a pole while powersliding through a turn. Next thing I know, I'm being passed on all sides despite flooring it on a straightaway.  :'(

Still, crazy fun. I go back to it pretty frequently and enjoy the driving and leaping stuff. So fun. Finishing the Boss Time Trials on "psycho" was a blast. Very satisfying, even though I used a shortcut to get the last guy.

is it worth it to keep playing Uncharted 2 once you get to the yeti section?  (around ch. 18.)  Just wondering if I've already been through the best of it.  Love what I've played so far, but I'll be damned if I have to fight bullet sponge yetis for the rest of the game.

also, the women in this game look just plain weird...like plastic surgery mishaps.  the pics I find online look okay, but in game, they look like aliens.

There's plenty of good stuff to come, the best stuff in the game as far as I'm concerned. As for yetis

spoiler (click to show/hide)
You only get into a couple more of those fights, and they are short fights. It's not a trigen situation.

I anticipate that you will soon feel silly for asking this question, but that's just me guessing.

As for the women, Chloe is the only one that looks weird to me. Well, by video game standards. They have weird eyes, but Elena looks awesome.

Man, FF13 looks so ridiculously good.  I can't believe Digital Foundry tried to say LO held its own smhhh

I haven't played Uncharted 2 yet, but it's going to have to do pixie magic to look better than this game.

That can only go so far. The driving is about as fun as GTA3's, and as your Agent powers-up that skill, the Agency-provided cars evolve to reflect it. The SUV and sports car are worth fully driving to power up, since once can crawl on walls and the other becomes The Fucking Batmobile.

For the Yeti fights in Uncharted - use the crossbows. You can one-shot them with those things. The Yeti are not a problem and the remainder of the game is fantastic.

having seen high quality FFXIII streams, I can tell you that it does not look better than Uncharted 2.   Except for the hair.  FFXIII might have the best video game hair ever.  It doesn't look like streaming ribbons.

I dunno man.  I have a feeling the streams do not do FFXIII justice.  Playing it on a 60" Kuro last night it really felt like the closest any game has come to playable CG.  Only downpoint is there motion blur when looking around with the camera.

Like here's two pics I snapped last night at the beginning of the game while walking around:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v297/bebpo/DSC_0581.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v297/bebpo/DSC_0586.jpg

Very CG-ish.  We need DCharlie to do his awesome photos of games on his setup for FF if he hasn't already :P

Then again I will start Uncharted 2 today and see how it compares.  I'm gonna play it during FF breaks and FF during U2 breaks :D

So the sequel will be straight up running? Sweet.

I wouldnt mind getting chased for some bits though, but no more stinky combat!

The combat is awesome, wtf. Stop being so lame or something. They can leave the guns out, but that would make the awesome disarm stuff look pretty lame.

FFXIII is pretty sweet.  So far story-wise it feels like an evolution of FFX and gameplay-wise an evolution of FFX-2.  Which is a damned good combination if you want a not-FFXII, FF style experience.

I played Uncharted 2 until I got to Nepal.  Kinda fun, but not a big fan of the shooting dozens of guys.  I like the stealth addition since it lets me avoid the shooting sometimes.  Climbing so far feels more auto and linear than Uncharted 1.  It almost feels like Assassin's Creed where the whole platforming routine is preset and you just follow it to the dot.

I loveeeee the snow effects :O  and I forgot that Uncharted has a really great composer. Love the music again.

Playing Wild Arms 3. Its pretty apparent that this is where the series devolved into "Uguu~"'ing. God, why do the Japanese have to gussy up dialog with shitty ethereal grand terms.

Finished the 2nd half of world 7 in NSMB.  Some hair pulling moments to finish each level with all coins.  That last half of the castle was intense.  I felt there was a pretty big spike in the difficulty from world 6->7.  I'm guessing worlds 7/8/9 are the real challenges.  2 more worlds to go!

I downloaded it too :lol (ISO via Torrent, installed over my network onto my PS2 HDD)

I had played through it in the past but I believe I rented it. Wanted to play through it again but I think I've just built up an intolerance to mushy dialog in games. The gameplay is fun and the Guardian/Skills system is interesting. The story is a huge piece of shit though.

I'm starting to think that Valve tinkered with the item drops in TF2, or I have been incredibly unlucky.  I played for about 3 hours yesterday and didn't get a single thing, and I've played over 32 hours in the past two weeks and have yet to get a hat or new Soldier/Demo item (outside of the Scottish Resistance, which is pretty awful).

Played The World Ends With You for the first time. Soundtrack, art style and setting are amazing, story is pretty cool too (except the angsty guy who doesnt like people...typical japanese bullshit).

I'm just not into the battle system really. It so lame  :(
just don't give a fuck about the top screen, either leave it to the cpu or just mash the directional button
you'll enjoy it a lot more as you get more attacks

oh i loved wild arms 3,it might be the first wild arms that truly has that wild west setting they were going for,it also has that "something" i can't describe,it feels like a classical rpg in structure where most other rpg are busy picking their nose by removing world maps or making boring dungeons
anyway if you are hating wild arms 3,don't ever go near wild arms 4 or your brain will explode
not only the game is worse in the trope abusing aspect to the point of being disgusting but the entire game is a mess, you have 4 characters and one of the characters is so strong that can basicaly kills enemy in a single hit (and can do enough damage to deal 75% of the damage to a boss in a single turn) while the rest of your party is so weak,it barely serves any purpouse

Oh, I've played all the Wild Arms game (4 and 5 being the worse offenders). I'm a huge fan of 1 and 2, kind of forgot about 3 (which is why I'm giving it a re-playthrough). I just don't remember the dialog being this bad. I do agree about the Western feel though. The start of the game was fantastic and I sort of like the beginning AMV :-[

This is true, I guess its me actively playing a various games that pander to the subset that like this sort of dialog (where anything in my country on other mediums that smells of this, I actively avoid).

Played The World Ends With You for the first time. Soundtrack, art style and setting are amazing, story is pretty cool too (except the angsty guy who doesnt like people...typical japanese bullshit).

I'm just not into the battle system really. It so lame  :(

Yeah, b/c over in America everyone loves each other and there's no angst whatsoever  ::)

BT: Wild Arms 3 was a great game, apart from some extremely high encounter rates in certain areas (though the "Encounter Canceling" was a nice touch). Some cool puzzles, LOTS of sidequests and exploration and even some nonlinearity here and there. The game took quite the while to beat but I had such fun with it... end guy took FOREVER tho.

started my game of Dragon Age back up today.  Wow, totally just lost any motivation to play it any more. I'm 40 hours in, just about to get to the last segment of the dwarf road place, which is the last before the landsmeet, but fuck it, i'm done with this game :lol

on the other hand, NSMB Wii is fucking awesome.

Spent over 5 hours on Dragon Age and I'm still only in that Grey Wardens camp.  I think I've spent about 4 hours talking and reading shit.  Not bored yet, but I am looking forward to going on the trials or whatever.

Simple 2500 Exorsister for PSP got leaked.  This is the game that's very similar to Oneechanbara.  You pick from one of four girls and go around killing monsters.  The game at least plays a lot smoother than Oneechanbara ever did, and the monsters aren't as brain dead like Oneechanbara's zombies are, but it's still pretty basic.  One attack button, projectile shot, jump/dodge, and auto-target.  You have to charge up with the R button to suck the remaining life force out of monsters once you get them knocked down; doing this also nets you more energy for your projectiles.  Wouldn't buy it, but I'll play a little bit more and see if it's worth keeping on the memory stick...it's under 300MB anyway.

EDIT: Considering it's a budget release, this is not a bad game.  It's not terribly difficult thus far, but also not just mindlessly easy like Oneechanbara.  The enemies actually follow and attack you.  There's five maps total, each broken down into smaller missions, where you start at one part of the map, move through killing monsters, and find and kill a target enemy to end the stage.  You can earn gold and use that to unlock better weapons and armor.  The four girls carry different types of weaponry; there's a katana type, an axe type, a bazooka type, and an uzi type, although the range of the guns is pretty limited.  Pretty basic stuff, but decent for what it is.

My PS3 is fixed so I'm back to playing lots of Demon's Souls. My save is gone of course so I'm basically speed running it right now to get to New Game+ where everything is a real threat. :drool

Also been playing Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story. Finished the first couple bosses so I'm not that far in, but I'm really liking it so far. This is the first Mario RPG I've played since TTYD (which I loved) so it's nice to get back into it. Really good looking game too, with some nice big sprites that animate well. Only downside so far has been the French guy; his section was so long and drawn out... bleh.

I started Torchlight last night and I have had a hard time pulling myself away, I am level 12 now. So good. I didn't think that I would get addicted to a single-player Diablo, but this game has done it. I actually think that I prefer this game to either Diablo games

Torchlight is addictive for a few days, and then gets old really quick. That's how it went with me. I was glued to it for like a week, and then couldn't bring myself to fire it up shortly after. Maybe because I played a shitload of Fate in the past, and played through D2 like a month beforehand.
