Girl topic
« on: May 24, 2009, 05:05:05 AM »
I wouldn't normally post one of these as I stopped looking for women at this point and just letting it happen if I meet someone and we gel.  But I was looking through my quiver at Okcupid, which is where the site recommends people who it thinks you might gel with (note: it's usually wrong) and there was this girl:

(unfortunately you have to sign up to see her profile, which I feel may limit this thread)

And I read her profile and I was like  :o  She sounds amaaaaaazing and she lives in the same little town as me where like no one lives, at least no one on dating sites, and she's within my age bracket (I'm 27) so it's not loli territory or anything.

I dunno what to do :(  I feel like Recursive right now :(

Wait.  Now that I think about it almost seems like it could be recursive if he was female hmmmmmm....

Message her? Getting messages from guys on a dating site isn't going to blow her mind, I think.

:lol , yeah but I'm just a little nervous cause she seems really cool so I don't want to come off as insincere.  Normally I'm not nervous when messaging girls as there are a million girls out there and if 10 of them never reply back to me I couldn't care less.  But it'd be cool to at least have a conversation with this girl and see if we get along, so I'm nervous  :ninja

Maybe I should practice with recursive.

Oh and there's another hitch, she's only on the site for "friends" not "dating".

But it does say she is straight and single, sooooo....

You're attracted to her because she's half-Asian, right? Because I don't see the attraction. She's hiding her face in her two profile photos, she can't write a coherent summary about herself, and she only scored 94 on the verbal portion of an IQ test.

I'm attracted to her because she's lived a foreign life like I have and seen the world from a different perspective.  She is writing a thesis on "learning a 2nd language through videogames" which ummm...is how I learned Japanese (in addition to classes).  She is writing game design documents, which is awesome and learning C++, which I also tried to learn at one point when I wanted to make my own games.  I dunno, all that screams totally awesome person to me.

Visually, she just looks cute.  Don't have much more to say than that.  I don't find Asian women attractive tbh, but she doesn't look Asian in the pictures.

I think you're better off learning something other than C++ as your first language in this day and age, even if you want to make games.  Have you looked at XNA or PyGame?

Listen to Rebiak. My department got a few new employees and one of them was this cute blonde girl. I looked her up on Facebook and she turned out to be the nerdiest person I've ever seen in my entire life. Cosplays. Has a gaia online account. Deviant art. Types kuwaii and all that crap. Went to Japan. Loves anime and stuff. I was amazed and couldn't wait to get to know her at work.

It turns out nerds fucking suck. She spends every shift I work with her blabbering about scientology or some book she's reading and being completely socially awkward. She also has a tendency of poking me randomly like a tard. Moral of the story is, just because they share the same nerdiness as you doesn't mean they share the same maturity level.

This was a waste of typing. Oh well, I wrote too much so instead of getting rid of it like I usually do with all my posts, I'm clicking Post.

Ok, I messaged her with a 4000+ character message that told the story of my life in how it relates to her thesis.

Normally I just say hey, that's a funny cat you're wearing!  But like I said I was nervous and when I'm nervous I ramble and write hundreds of words (see all my freelance writing done under pressure).

Would be cool if I she replies, but I'll not think about it since who knows if she will.  She hadn't checked her profile for a week at this point, so she might have left the site already.  Oh well, sure gave an interesting night either way :P

I've never met a nerdy girl in real life >_<  All the girls I've met in person and/or dated have been totally normal/psycho normal girls into normal girl things like pink and disney and drinking at bars.  Which is ok if they're cool people, but it would be nice to meet someone who was a punk/nerdy person like myself.  I really don't know anyone much like me at all IRL.  My friends IRL are awesome and I love 'em but they do not play games in Japanese and read One Piece and get incredibly excited that the Rancid album is finally coming out in 2 weeks.  I want to meet someone like that one day before I die.  Just to see if the world explodes  ;)

FOR THOUSAND CHARACTERS!?!

Why don't you send a diamond ring to her while your at it?

All you had to say something like:

Hi, I'm "Whatever the fuck your name is"

I came across your profile recently and would like to chat with you sometime.

Thanks!

But noooo you had to write some long winded reply talking about you life story. Jesus dude, why didn't just send her some pick up lines in Japanese. Or sent pictures of your dick like normal men on dating websites?

When I took the Greek Mythology Personality Test it said I was Prometheus.  It basically said I was awesome but then ended with this paragraph:

"Relationships are your kryptonite. It isn't that you don't want them -- in fact, you would very much like a very close relationship with someone who understands you. They're just the one thing in the world that you're naturally bad at."

And on the general personality test it said I was The Last Man on Earth (which actually sounds kind of badass and cool to me) but...

"Shit, rejected again. You are The Last Man on Earth.

Sorry, but most women would rather see the human species wither to an end—and therefore deny the most fundamental instinct that living creatures have—than sleep with you.

We’ve learned the following: you don’t think things through. You’re haphazard. You’re dangerous. You’re somewhat inexperienced. It’s totally obvious that you’re a horny bugger, as well. Everybody knows that and steers clear.

To top things off, when you do find your way into a relationship, you tend to be a dick somewhere down the line and fuck it all up.

There’s a small, but negligible, chance we’re wrong. In any case, your friends find your shit hilarious. There’s nothing cooler than a dude reducing himself to human rubble."

Wait, you took those before doing this and yet you still did it? Come on man, open your damn eyes!

So wait, I'm supposed to just give up on meeting someone in life because every personality test tells me I have a 0.00001% chance of actually having a working relationship?

Fuck the tests, I'm awesome and somebody out there has to appreciate it.  So I just gotta find them, despite being horrible with introductions and the opposite sex.

Thanks :)  Btw, I really liked your profile.  It reads nicely and you come across as laid back, funny, and smart.  I hope you meet someone with it!  Although you seem so busy, do you even have time for a gf?  I kind of got the same feeling with this girl's profile; it's like...how would she ever have time to have a bf?  Maybe that's why her profile just says she's looking for friends.

One time I wrote a girl this loooong story of driving in the snow in Japan and pinballing off the barricades to keep from dying and she liked it.  So occasionally women seem to be unoffended by long tales.  Though I do agree with the general idea that it's best to keep it brief.  Save all the juicy long tales for when you meet in person.  But I feel like I have a lot of stories so I'm ok on that end for a while.

I'm not an expert on this, and to be honest most of the "rules" shit you are told about are for the most part just a bunch of bs, because girls aren't the same and the rules only work as far as your looks go and the sound of your voice and etc.

There's only one rule that i would say applies to the majority of people. That rule is, you can't look needie, you gotta look confident even if you are just faking it, doesn't matter. Which means you don't tell the story of your life in detailed fashion as an introduction.

But, depending on how desperate and emotionally unstable she is, it might just work. Usually not the kind of girl you want to be dealing with but hey.

Hey, girls into nerdy type stuff ARE out there. I went on a date the other night with a girl who beat the Guardian Legend, loves oldskool games (we were talking about Battletoads, StarTropics, Double Dragon, etc), and is a major RE fangirl (even has an RE related tattoo). So, they're out there. I just gotta hope this one picks up when I call her.

And the other day I got a msg from a 34 year old from NYC, who listens to the exact same type of music as me. Too bad she hasn't responded yet when I mailed her.

But anyways, yeah the girl looks cute, and I wish you the best of luck. OKC is kinda weird since you'll meet people on there who look great on paper, but they won't write back to you... I usually try to keep the messages pretty brief and basic... like mention one or two things in the profile and talk how they relate to you. 2 or 3 paragraphs seem sufficient for a first message.

And my dorky-ass OKC profile for those who are interested:

TBH, she seems like the typical Juno type scene girl - a girl who relies on her attempt to be quirky and shore up her indie cred, which often gets mistaken for intelligence.

Of course she's bad at dating but good at Street Fighter; her verbal intelligence is nearly three standard deviations below her spatial intelligence. I don't think your average assburger has that kind of mental disparity.
