there are tons of gems to be found on some geocites pages which will disappear forever to be never found again when geocities gets deleted. NOOO.

I'm hoping in 5-10 years we'll see the same thing happen to My Space. All those pages need to be flushed down the toiler to the seventh level of Hell never to be seen or heard from again.

Jason Scott and his Archive Team are putting in an effort to mirror geocities before it is shut down. And yes, Yahoo's intention is to just wipe everything.

Yes, please. I'm sorry but Facebook is so much better as a social networking site.

Facebook is an evolution of sites like Tribe.net and such, where discussions, groups, picture sharing are all supported. As far as I can tell MySpace is a premade homepage space with easily broken automation, which is 99% populated by the people you hope don't talk to you when you go to renew your drivers license at the DMV.
