With the exception of a very few songs, every rap song I have heard shares the same subject matter.
BORING.
not that i disagree, but.....
most genres of music have their own little pool of subject matter that they recycle over and over again.
perhaps the pool that most rap draws from isn't the one you want to wade in.
Pretty much.
And remind you, this is talking about mainstream songs from the genres. You should never judge a genre by the mainstream music on the radio.
Mainstream Rap: Bitches, 40's and "grillz"
Mainstream Pop: Cheesy love songs
Mainstream Rock: I hate my parents, God, love and any form of Government.
mainstream Country: I'm drunk and my wife left me.
Mainstream anything pretty much is derivative dribble and shouldn't be used as a measuring stick for the genre.
