From Sunday to Tuesday I've witnessed the complete mental breakdown of one of my best friends. He has gone completely delusional. I let him stay at my house in between hospital evaluations and it is really crazy how far down the rabbit hole it goes. This instance alone isn't even the craziest:

I woke up yesterday and asked him if he took care of his bedding I let him use. He told me when he woke up, he recognized the blankets, they were the blankets he was molested on when he was 11. So he took them and the pillow out to the neighbors burning barrel and burned them.

So ya, I can post more after I get back from lunch.

I, um, dislike my present employment situation.

The crap thing is the market I live in isn't the best for programmers even in the best of times. You plug in C# and my zip code, for example, into dice.com right now and you'll get 5 hits. This is Greensboro, NC. To the east is Raleigh and to the southwest is Charlotte, about 80 miles to either from where I am, and they're in a better situation but still only about 25-30% of what they were a couple of years ago in terms of jobs listed. I'm more interested in going to Charlotte than Raleigh, but I don't really want to stray farther than that.

Anyway, I turned on my dice.com resume on Friday afternoon. No phone calls. Not a one.

Here it is in a nutshell:

Within the past week, my friend is completely convinced that Carl Sagan molested him and hypnotized him to forget it all. During the hypnosis, Carl told him all these future events which are all occurring. Monday's psych visit kind of threw him off his story a little. What was supposed to happen was after he told the psychologist his story, the psychologist he saw when he was 11 was supposed to come out, hand him keys to a Lexus and a degree from Cornell in Psychology. All for participating in this sick experiment.
He is very adamant that Carl Sagan is alive and lives with the guy who runs the trailer park he lives in. And soon after the police expose the fact that Sagan is alive, child molestation laws will be forever changed.

Oh, and there are 4 dead bodies in my back yard.

Just got off the phone with my friends mom. They finally admitted him. I feel so much better knowing that he is finally getting the help he needs.

Hmm, Gareth Emery is playing the day before I touch down (I'll be there Sun June 14-Sat June 20), would have been a cool show to go... only went clubbing in DC once, to some ghetto club called Dream I think, in 2004 Armin was there. Do you know of any smaller, loungier venues (similar to something like NYC's Sullivan Room), where I can find something more housy or proggy?

Also, do you know anything about the Landover area? Or throw off any recommendations for good eats in the DC area (any type of cuisine).

check the buzzboard events forum for stuff. The scene there is so malleable that I couldn't really make any suggestions in those directions. Sam The Man Burns used to do a house thing every Sunday which was worth attending. More deep house than proggy but still quite good.
