I'm so fucking pissed off right now. My logic prof is a fucking asshole.
Why?
He can't teach at all. I have no idea what he is talking about most of the time. He's a control freak and this is the first time he let TA help him do stuff, which is not working out. Apparently he's had some big problem with the marker for the class, which isn't surprising since he's the biggest egotistical ass I've ever meet. He also has a problem with the other TA, our tutorial leader too. The first tutorial he did he sat in the back of the class for the first fifteen mins to judge how she was. This was the best tutorial of the class so far yet the next class he came in and announced that he'd take over the tut for the day because he didn't like the way the TA did it. Instead of having a real tutorial that day he just extended his lecture to FOUR HOURS and then told us to do the tutorial on our own because "We know these things already". Anyway the tut leader seems broken since that day and now she is given a strict outline on what to do, which isn't much.
Because he teaches so bad, he makes the tests the exact same questions from the assignments and slides and I mean word for word. So all you have to do is memorize the stuff and write it down. He also lets use choose which questions we want to write so like choose 5 out of the 9 kind of thing so this makes it really easy. We just had the first midterm today - the term is more than half over - and we just got back the assignments and our first test today, so that means we have no feedback going into the test. This means I made the same errors I did on the midterm as I did the first test. Which he promptly told me was my fault because "lots of classes never give you feedback at all" and that "I should take my learning into my own hands". I asked him about some of the questionable "errors" on my first test, one of which was I got 14/20 on a question. The thing is it was the EXACT same question I did on the first assignment and there I got 100% on it. He looked at it for two seconds and said I must have done something wrong. I asked again and he said basically the same thing. I pressed him to tell me what it was that I did wrong and in frustration he said "Ok how many marks do you want for it?" I said "however many you think I deserve", to which he got really huffy and said "Would 20/20 make you happy", crossed out the old mark and put the new on in. Note that this was after he marked this test himself because he was happy with how his TA marker did it (who gave everyone a horrible mark).
So this gets him into a 45 min rant
at me, on why this everything wrong with this class isn't his fault, how it's mine but mostly his crummy TAs. During the course of this he said how he wants to physically harm the marker. That he is accustomed to teaching at a "
good school, not like this school which has no standards". How the head of the undergrad department and some union for the TA is out to get him. And this is all intermixed in between comments like "I got a psychology degree so that I could better understand
my students" He always calls us his students in a condescending way by the way. And things like you already got a distinction in this class why do you need you marked change Arvie, ect. It should also be noted that I have like a high 80's in the class so it's not just me being pissed on a low mark. Also he told me that he isn't suppose to tell me any of this but that "He doesn't give a shit".
I'm seriously thinking about asking the undergrad chair if I can get out of the class with out academic penalty and taking it in the regular term. That would mean 6 classes next term (that's one more than we are allowed to take, so I would need permission first). I would be $600 out but I would actually learn something then.
My other class is going great though. I have a 94 average with that being 35% of the over all mark, and this class is suppose to be one of the harder ones in the department. He also marked out TWENTY page midterm that we did yesterday already, which is really awesome of him.
