I ordered a chocolate chip muffin and a blueberry fritter at Tim's and got a blueberry muffin and an apple fritter.  This is a bad omen.

I'm so upbeat lately, a friend I bumped into last Friday thought I was drunk.
Apparently he had never known me to be happy, just because.

So yeah, my life is still pretty awesome. 8)

She even said "One blueberry muffin and an apple fritter correct?" before handing me the bag."

Arvie reminds me of an Egyptian classmate I had back in junior year; he'd get super nervous before exams then go on about how hard they were when they're over, how he fears getting the lowest of grades. We'd always feel bad for him and sympathize, try to calm him down a little. A few days later he gets an A+ in almost all the courses, thus raising the average and screwing us all over.

I'm not worried about your grade Arvie, because deep down there's an Egyptian nerd inside of you.

Yeah, that's why I'm not sympathising.

I might have mono, fuck me.  This is what I get for being out of the dating game until so late in life.

If I have mono I'll probably have to stop taking my remicade infusions that lower my immune system until I get over it, which is less than stellar.  ughhh

Going at 2pst to get some throat tests done and try to figure out wtf I do have.

But pretty much everyone gets it at some point.  At least everyone I know got it when they were teen/early 20's and dating around.

Once you get mono, the likelihood of you ever getting it again is slime to none.

I guess most people get it when they're kids and show no symptoms. Huh.

i went to a gay club last night. it's exactly like a straight club, except with better music and with more men being grinded up on than women. i thought i'd be more taken aback then i was. too bad my date got sick from the food she had beforehand, so we couldn't dance up on each other that much.

some of the best things are touristy, unfortunately

--Sears Tower Glass Box
--Museums:  Museum of Contemporary Art, Art Institute Modern Wing, Museum of Science and Industry
--Millennium Park
--Architecture Boat Ride

I could recommend some bars and stuff (though I mostly know the "hipster" spots...lemme know if you want them) And from Wrigleyville and going south through Lincoln Park on Clark Street has all kinds of bars, restaurants, and some theaters...it's a bit more yuppie, but it's safe and you'll get trashed.

I've been to Millennium Park (which is awesome). I'd love to do the Architecture boat ride.

I'm all  :-\ about the Sears Tower (and Hancock for that matter). I don't know if I can handle going up that many stories in a fucking elevator. But I'd love to do the glass box... We'll see...

We've done some of the Museums, including the Art Institute, but not the other two. I looked into the Museum of Contemporary Photography (I think)? They have an exhibit from some lady with a series of in-game photos from The Sims 2, where she's unclogging toilets and shit.  :lol

Ooo... Hipster spots? :drool

spoiler (click to show/hide)
I'm afraid that most things more low-key will be hipster spots, so I'm willing to embrace it.   :-\
[close]

Some of our friends recommended Belmont Army and a few really cheap restaurants with great food. We're also going to Ikea. God, we're almost hipsters...  :'(

Copied and pasted from GAF:

I started my new job in January. Within the first couple of weeks, I found a way to move $1.2 million around to where we were no longer facing financial danger. I successfully carried out two projects where one came in 33% under budget and one about 53%, the budgets of which were over a million dollars. This was done in addition with regular duties. I've hosted training, introduced new equipment, and updated aging and most likely illegal documentation. All in all, it came out to be about a 60 hour work week.

A co-worker slipped up on a couple of things and I fixed it. So to fix this, my boss reorganized who did what. It was a nightmare. He not only didn't relieve some of my duties to others, he piled on more. So one employee (me) is doing just about everything and the other is doing nothing. Furthermore, he made it possible so nobody else could possibly take over duties. In fact, the new duties relieve him of everything except supervisory roles, which isn't that often because it is a small group.

He called me about the plan and was extremely defensive about it. It was unreal how I saved his ass a few times by going through the accounting to find stuff that was incorrectly classified, updated procedures, etc. I was accused of having poor time management skills and lying to him. I wish I was lying because fuck, I wish I had a 40 hour work week. The meeting ended very poorly and made things 10x worse.

This is ridiculous. It seems like I'm getting set up to fail because the only way to relieve my 60 hour a week load is to add more, amirite? I was able to confirm that him and his boss agreed to this so appealing to a higher position is not possible. The workplace atmosphere is very gossipy so I can't confide in anyone about how I feel about the situation, in fear of snitching nor do I know how others feel.

The working relationship has been very bad since then, which makes me believe that this isn't going to change, no matter what I say or do. Since he is aware of the time I spend working on stuff and the high amount of responsibilities I carry, the fact that he plays dumb to that means that he isn't interested in fixing it because he's looking to clear out a few people.

Thoughts?

lennedsay-- Another good spot is the intersection of North + Milwaukee.  it's a former hipster spot, wicker park.  It's pretty packed on Friday and Saturday nights, but it's a mix of yuppies, normal 20-somethings, and art students.  You've got the Subterranean and the Double Door for music, Reckless Records right around the corner, Myopic books, and a bunch of good restaurants.  If you're looking for somewhere kinda low key and romantic for dinner, check out a place called Hot Chocolate.  It's a bit pricey, but they've got good food and the best hot chocolate ever (don't eat too heavy because it's very thick stuff.) it's dimly lit and the seating is fairly spread apart.
It's a nice area to spend an evening.

And the best disputably hipster music venue is the Empty Bottle.  Check out their page, they've got descriptions of all the bands that play there on their calendar.  it's where most of the interesting, but too-large-for-some-dude's-garage-and-possibly-about-to-get-popular bands play. But they also have a good jazz night.  Otherwise, for the underground music in the city (which will lead you to some mellow bars and art spaces), hit up http://now-is.org/
