The iPod Nano is officially off the to-buy list.

If anyone recalls, I was interested in a Nano if they unveiled a larger capacity version at their show earlier this month. They upgrade the capacity every year, after all, so I expected nothing less. Yeah, that went well. Apple stayed at 16GB on the high end, and my music library is bigger than that.

Anyway, I put my whole library into a single playlist and started filtering. Get rid of this... drop that... make it to 16GB... and I didn't even get close.

Oh well, see you next year, Mr. Jobs.

So in continuing with my quest to avoid sugary soft drinks, I was at the grocery store tonight checking out the sparkling waters. I looked at some store brand stuff, and then saw some flavored sparkling water from Deer Park. They only had two varieties of it, Cranberry and Berry Lime Essence. Neither really sounded all that good, but I decided to try the Berry Lime anyway, thinking "how bad could it be?"

This probability question is confusing me.

An aircraft seam requires 25 rivets. The seam will need to be reworked if a single rivet is defective. Rivets are defective independently of eachother, and have the same probability of being defective.

a) If 20% of all seams need reworking, what is the probability that a rivet is defective?
b) How small should the probability of a defective rivet be to ensure that only 10% of all seams need re working?

I think a) is P[in bad seam and one in 25 rivets] = 0.20 * 1/25 = 0.008, but I don't get the second one. I feel like I need to know how many seams there are.

edit: wait is the second question just a rewording of the first?

NPR reported a minute ago that Chicago just got eliminated from the running for the 2016 Olympics. I'm now pulling for Tokyo, since we'll be there in April and we can see all the decorations in preparation.

edit: Tokyo is out, and there's no way Europe will get another games so soon. Looks like we're gonna have an Olympics full of kidnappings and murders in Rio!

My social anxiety was horrible today. I got to class and panicked like 10 mins before it started, left and spent the next three hours hiding out in a cubical in the library, missing another class. This means I've missed a whole week of latin, which is a giant fucking mistake.
