I'm probably jinxing it, but I got a call today about a job opportunity that sounds great. The crap thing is that I had to update my references, and it's not like I can ask my present batch of coworkers for a glowing endorsement.

A) I'm the only one who does what I do.
B) I'm the only one with the faintest idea of what I do.
C) Small office. Word spreads. "Hey, can you help me find a new job?"

So I had to get the same people as last time. They still have the A & B problem, but at least I don't have to worry about C.

Phone interview set for Friday. In person interview probably not necessary. Decision could come as soon as Saturday.

It has been the rare case where people have left my present place of employment on their own terms. I can think of, really, 2 complete cases, one partial.

I've been here two years. Two people gave notice, worked out their notice periods, and off they went. One gave notice and was summarily dismissed that day. The rest of the exits, of which there have been many, have all been of the involuntary variety.

I bring this up because I wonder if the interview goes well and I receive an offer, I would clearly be in the "voluntarily leaving" camp. But would I be out the door that day or would I be able (forced?) to stick around? I'm just saying... I haven't had many days off these past two years. I could use a vacation.

But I could be putting the cart before the horse a bit here.

You can choose to format the disk during win7 setup. When it asks what disk to install on, click 'drive options'.

It's C#, it's a delegate, lambda expressions, blah blah blah

Func<int, Func<int, int>> is a function that accepts an int and returns Func<int,int>, which would be a function that accepts an int and returns an int.

What I'm sort of going screwy with is what follows... = x => y => x + y, and then the line that follows that. Actually, I guess I'm screwy on the whole thing.

The problem was that the HDD was already formatted, but the optical drive wasn't reading my Vista OS disks which needed to be re-installed before the upgrade. I think it's finally working now though.*

Just finished a midterm that I was only able to write half of in the allotted time. It's a fucking open book, multiple choice, stats test where we have to use distribution tables and we write in a room where our desk space is slightly larger than a piece of paper. It's so fucking frustrating. I only saw two people leave before the TA called time so I wasn't the only one. I have till the 15th to drop the class which I think I will do. It reminds me of my summer logic class

It's not worth the frustration. $600 down the drain though :'(

I should have dropped it after the first lecture. All power point and he repeats himself all the time. The only good thing about the class is that he lets us out early all the time. One time the lecture was only 14 mins.

goddamn I want to piss all over my landlords. Three months after the kitchen light shorted out and two electricians have visited, its still not fixed. I get a letter in the post today saying "our recent inspection shows you have damaged the kitchen light. You will pay to have this fixed". Maybe if they checked their fucking records they'll learn that they fucked up? I have never dealt with so much BS from a property management company. Anyone I know who I care to get in touch with, I have on the list and even then, I'd rather call them than post a message. All of the friends and acquaintances who are Facebook whores who want 1,000+ friends, I've added. All that is left is MAFIA WARS $:-\$

It isn't really worth checking out these days. I'd be interested in Google Wave but Google has yet to send me an invite. Like most things Google, I expect it to curb stomp Facebook, especially since by the time it gets into the swing of things, Facebook would most likely be considered too stale to be worth keeping.

Downside is that there is always pressure to go back and either get a masters or a BS in another degree. That and an MBA.

That is just one of many ways how the corporate grind keeps you down and stifles any creative or independent thought. If you get to be a Project Engineer, you're required to take a certain amount of classes per year. As you guessed, they're all obscenely expensive.

* - Not that I have a problem with this but I prefer more independent education than having to go in and out of school until you're 40.

Edit: I'm starting to hallucinate a bit from the lack of sleep (3-4 hours a night for the past month or so.) I saw a sparrow jumping around on the subway tracks this morning. I had a long conversation with someone a few days ago, but I can't remember if it really happened.

I'm skipping out on halloween this year to read everything for all my classes next week so I have time to start the 15 page research paper where I have to research a rule from scratch and find the caselaw on it, then staying in all next weekend to do all the reading for the following week so I can start writing and maybe finish the paper, then staying in the next 2 weekends after that to finish up reading while studying for finals during the week, then taking finals while studying all in between. FML.
