If he said Sony and Microsoft games, he'd be right. I don't see how anyone would readily admit that watching the Splinter Cell Conviction or Assassin's Creed 2 demos wasn't a billion times better than watching some guy demo a boring as shit skydiving game where you pretend the remote is your body.

The Nintendo conference was horrible outside of those two trailers at the end. I was down on NSMB Wii because of that conference. It wasn't until after when I realized it's a new Super Mario Bros on the Wii that's multiplayer. Even the character interaction stuff looks straight out of Mario 2 on the NES. I mean, I still don't like how jarring the difference between characters and stage are, and it will cost too much (like Punch Out), but other than that it's probably going to be a lot of fun.

Come on. How long have all of us been playing games? We should be better able to extract game merit from videos. If we're still on the level of "ooh dats pretty" then it is pretty fucking distinguished mentally-challenged. Movie critics can tell a blockbuster stinker inspite of a flashy trailer.

Sony Playstation 3

PS3 is dominating this year. MLB 09 and Infamous are the two best games to come out in 2009, with Uncharted 2 due this holiday season. Multi beta is great. Fat Princess hitting later this month as well. I never thought I'd see the day when I'm consistently playing my PS3 much more than my 360, and looking forward to more PS3 games.

PS3's 2010 lineup is pretty impressive actually (The Last Guardian shits all over anything shown at E3 for 360), as far as exclusives go. I'm beginning to think that the PS3 is gonna eventually barely overtake the 360 in worldwide sales and game quality, but it will take a WHILE.

I watched my friend play through a lot of FFX before I ever got it. I remember playing the Blitzball levels for him. I eventually got it Christmas that year, but I already knew most of what happened.

Watching people play games annoys the shit out of me because I generally like to see every nook and cranny to a satisfying degree.

Like I was watching a friend of mine play through Bioshock fairly recently and even though I've been through it several times, watching him enter rooms, clear them out and move on without stopping to even glance at the architecture or see what kind of goodies were scattered around was maddening.

I'm sure watching me play is an even worse experience because I will dick around without progressing a step for long stretches of time.

I do that too, but it is annoying as hell to watch someone else do that.

If you played FFX, there is a part where you need to dodge 200 lightning bolts in a row to get Lulu's weapon or some shit. I watched my friend attempt that and it was the most boring thing ever. Yet I totally did that when I played the game myself.

i'm not really into paint, but since i was little i've spent hours looking at tile patterns (on floors, quilts, wallpaper etc.) and mentally superimposing pixel art and LED displays (e.g. seven-segment) on them.

Yes. And I am honoured to have finished it at that level. MGS is biggest here in Europe. We usually get a good treatment from Kojipro.

Not really. The extra difficulty was because Euroland was always the last region to get it localized (I guess because of all the languages?).

Whatever, watching a game being played by somebody who is just average at it is always horrible. I guess whoever wrote that article doesn't play videogames more than a few times a year.
