Queen, great or the greatest?
« on: June 07, 2009, 01:10:10 PM »
Am i the only one who thinks Queen are the greatest band ever? I grew up listening to them, and still to this day i listen to a whole lot of Queen, it doesn't get old.

They are so diverse, the songs are so good, and it's like everyone in the band is a master at what they do.

Queen is easily my favorite band.  So, yes, the greatest.

I'm even considering Singstar Queen despite having the voice of a mule.

Once went to a Queen musical in London (a musical with only queen songs). Performed live, it was really incredible. Fantastic music.

Not my absolute favourite band (Pink Floyd is), but it's one of them.

Haha, I know, same here. If they ever released Queen songs on Rock Band, I would pay sooo many space bucks for that.

Yeah, they're cool.

Brian May came to Australia a while ago (probably 10 years ago now) and I was front row - just a few feet away from him. :heartbeat

Queen was the first concert I ever saw, at Slane Castle in 1986, making me 15. They are probably the most profoundly uncool band ever, but goddamn they were fun. Not quite as funny as Japanese Queen cover bands (there are a host of them) though - i once saw one called 'Gueen', the singer of which had a whole rug sewn to his chest (Japanese guys don't have a whole lot of body hair other than their fawn-like thighs).

I have a theory that everyone likes a Queen song, even if they don't know its queen.

It's hard to believe that anyone wouldn't recognize a Queen song when they heard it; Mercury's voice is too distinctive.

*nods*
parts of The Works are good, and of course the beyond-awesome video for I Want To Break Free but yes, i hated the synth-poppy stuff. It killed off their eclecticism.
