Fig newtons are awesome. So delicious, especially when coupled with a tall glass of ice-cold milk.

Why can't I have a big box of them sitting beside me right now?  :'(

I don't hate them, but I would rather have some other type of snack.

Then again, it has been years since I ate any.  I will be going to WalMart on my lunch break, and obtaining these so called "fig-filled cakelike treats".

"Brocolli please, "

lunch lady was like  " Just....Broccoli?!"

They're delicious, but I haven't had them in years. The one thing I don't like is the coating they leave in my mouth everytime I have more than one. I will also bring some to Japanbore next time I am in the nihons (hopefully August) and we will get drunk and then have them, as I imagine that is the way to go.

Note to self to buy fig newtons this weekend to see if booze and fig newtons is indeed the way to go. I bet it's awesome.

That'd be great for me, except I'm in Osaka. And Tokyo is probably the one place in Japan that /does/ have them. I've not seen them, but the foreign grocers there seem to have EVERYTHING.

Yeah, we did Kyoto/Osaka/Hiroshima on our honeymoon trip. This time we want to focus on Tokyo (since we didn't see a whole lot of it last time) and the surrounding areas.

Attention Japanborez: if you can't find Fig Newtons, but have access to a Kaldi or other source of imported foods, try LU's Figolu. It's pretty good. The outside is a little more biscuit-y, and the inside's a little sweeter and less gritty. They're about 550 a pack at Kaldi, and worth it.
