The game broke a million months after Halo 3's launch. Duckman was right about its legs.

I wasn't saying he wasn't right, I was talking about that first month of sales.

The Crackdown demo was a huge hit, it was well reviewed, the beta was many months away, and the game continued to sell after the beta ended completely. If that beta shit was true then it would have reappeared in the top 10 in June or July when the beta launched, which did not happen.

Also you just got done calling Uncharted 1 a success. So are you telling me Infamous would've done even worse if it didn't have a day-and-date beta for a popular exclusive bundled in?

I don't think the U2 beta is fair because not everyone who bought Infamous got it unlike the Halo 3 beta. You couldn't exactly buy Infamous and get guaranteed a spot in the beta.

It was complicated. Some people say only if you pre ordered you'd get it, yet some people did pre-order and didn't get it. Some say store bought copies dont have it either. It's totally random who gets the beta I think.

And yea, bionic Commando is the ultimate bomb. It even had Punch-Out like name recognition it could have been riding. Infamous did as well as it could have, being a new property on PS3.

Infamous did fine, I think.  As did Punch-Out.  UFC obviously did spectacularly, as did the latest workout video from EA.  Devil Summoner 2 did really well, too, for those that care.

Everything else seems like it was super-bomba city though.  Oh, worth noting - Excitebots is showing uberlegs, doubling its LTD!

That's good to hear Devil Summoner 2 do well... I didn't even know the SMT series was popular at all aside from message boards, especially a PS2 game this late in the game...

So it sold 20,000 copies?

A little bit more, but you're in the right ballpark.  BC combined sold less than 30k.  The 360 version outsold the PS3 version at a ratio of about 7:1.  I'll let you work out the math.

So what you're saying is that PS3 gamers are 7 times smarter than 360 players for not buying BC?

Three bombs in a row for GRIN. Guess people will stop getting them to do games based on popular franchises.

Didn't they fire like half the studio?  I don't even think they can do big games anymore.

Wii is going down...woohoo

Same thing that happened to Wii in Japan will repeat in US,unless Nintendo does something.

Software-UFC is a hit,no surprise there...NotFamous-not popular,no surprise there

Hardware-kinda decent for May...except for Playstation family-quicksand territory

PSP is the most amazing thing there,it sells 100k a month and Sony decides to make gimped, overpriced version of it to spur sales...amazing

175k is impressive now for sfags? That's PC games level of sales, disastrous. 1 750k is impressive.

The way the things are going even 75k is going to be impressive for sfags, but hey its all a part of 10 year Sony master plan(pretend to be dead and then strike like a zombie)

If anything, the drop yoy is related to the recession.  The only practical way to boost hardware sales is pricecuts.  I guarantee the Wii would be doing much better in japan if they would do a $100 pricecut.  But consudering they make profit on every system sold, their overseas sales aren't going to allow that.  It needs to flatline.  Flatline in this case would be a potential month where 360 is dangerously close to overtaking it.

The recession isn't the only reason that Wii demand dropped.  Supply caught up with demand late last year and now it's destined to sustain PS2-level monthly sales, which is still impressive as hell, but not as crazy as 2008 for the Wii.

As mentioned earlier in the thread, having a small team probably helps a bit too. And while I think the game deserves more sales than PS3 owners are going to award it (although it will probably net a decent sum when all is said and done), there's really no reason to believe it would even be the same game if it was overseen by another publisher.

Sucker Punch has made three Sly games for the PS2, inFamous, and now, Sly 4 on PS3.  Ninja Theory made Heavenly Sword, which didn't sell great or was particularly well received.

Think of it like Rare fucking up vs Dyack or the Lair guys fucking up.  Rare at least has a history and that can save them from Banjo.

Saw some E3 footage, and it looks exactly like TOD to me. NDoesn't make it shit since I actually liked, but the fact that people were going gaga over a new pair of boots is pretty telling. I bet co-op will make it feel like a whole new game, though.

inFAMOUS and Ratchet and Clank are NOTHING alike. Sony keeps pumping out R&C games because they're cheap to make and only take up a year of development time. Not only that but R&C as a series has been extremely profitable. They'll also do this with resistance, because they can move at least a million copies and don't take long to develop.

You seriously think that the Ratchet games only take one year to develop? Also, I haven't kept track of sales, but didn't Ratchet TOD openwith a ridiculously low number, 50k or so?

I bet Heavenly Sword sold over a million, bet you'll never see another game in that series.

Infamous probably didn't cost that much either compared to your typical hd game.  Sucker punch has between 50 and 60 employees.  A lot of teams are in the hundreds.

It might not take exactly a year, but I'm sure it isn't too far off that considering Incomniac has released a game a year since 2002.

There are two teams developing games in parallel at Insomniac. Ratchet games do not take one year to develop.

I just don't think it's correct to use the fact that because R&C is getting a sequel means that inFAMOUS will too. It should get a sequel but Sony could just as easily ask them to focus on the Sly cooper series.

But there's nothing that support that. It hasn't bombed, critically or in terms of sales, and there isn't a massive studio there to support. Compared to a studio like Guerrilla which devoured millions in development budget and has grown to become a massive studio that still needs other studios to help out with key aspects of the game, Infamous and Sucker Punch is hardly first in line for a critical review. I think the game deserves more, but that's just how things work on PS3.

Yes. I also don't see why infamous couldn't have been produced by ANY other publisher.

I can't imagine any big publisher that would have allowed them to get away with a game that doesn't rely on any combination of blood/death/ultimate destruction/seedy crime. Nor would there be an Amon Tobin soundtrack, which I'm sure came at a much lesser cost given the Sony connection.

Having a 360 shouldn't be stopping them from buying Infamous, though. I'm leaning towards that PS3 owners are PS2 fans still in denial about the PS3. So they are still saving their dollars for the grand return of the PS2-style library.

That's not it either, I tried playing COD4 afterwards and it still felt meh to me. I won't be buying COD anything for a while.

I thought so too at first.  In fact, I was ready to quit playing CoD4 after two missions until a friend convinced me to go on.  He told me some cool stuff was head.  He was completely right.  Some of the later levels in the game are epic and have done things I still haven't seen in a FPS.  The way the story was told and how certain things occurred in first person was brilliant.  There are still some annoying old school CoD trapping like unlimited respawnable enemies until you reach a certain point, but I would give the game another shot.  I started the game a bit bored, but finished it with a rush.  I'll be grabbing MW2 day one in Nov.
