Okay, so I need to WHINE in public because I am like. Out of motivation, I'm out of patience, out of optimism and I just need to get it out and get over it and whatever.
Anyway, so, on August 1st, my lease is up. We have a KILLER apartment and we hated to leave it and hated to deal with all the bullshit that moving entails: selling your shit, fixing holes in the walls, buffing floors, fighting for your security back etc etc. We also needed a place to stay for an extra 2 weeks, but the landlord wouldn't extend the lease 14 days. Whatever, that's reasonable.
So, then a group of our really good friends wanted the apartment. This was great! They offered us cash for the furniture that we'd leave behind, we wouldn't have to fix all the dings and dents and whatever and we could stay there with them for the extra 14 days. We called the landlord, told her they were interested and she said, "Cool, I'd get a lease along and they can sign". In the meanwhile, she lets some girl in to look at the apartment. The girl says, "Uh, not what we're looking for, we'll pass". Awesome.
So, our friends are due to sign the lease at 4 today. Then our landlord calls us- Completely unbidden, this girl sent a check to the landlord. And the landlord said to her, "Okay, let's sign" and because she sent a check, even though she PASSED on the place, the landlord is like "too bad lol". And she wants to know if we can move out EARLY.
I've been at work every night until 10. This stupid fuckign 50,000$ ERP bullshit fucking program lacks BASIC features I'd expect on a 15$ program. It can only import ONE file. You have to say "Import Customers\scustome#1.csv" not "Import all fo Customers". Which means that for an ecommerce platform, which is sending along customers and orders all the time, those files are going to overwrite themselves.
I've had to write so much middleware to compensate for it's insane deficiencies. I've barel;y seen my wife, I haven't had a day off in like 3 weeks. And my raise was nice, but it was only 5k. That's a healthy chunk,. but given I was underpaid for the shit UI was doing then, I'm double underpaid for the shit I'm doing now.
I just don't like the person this requires me to be. I can't be a nice, thoughtful dude and a Stay-Until-10-guy every night at the same time. I'm exhuasted, I'm out of whatever it is that makes you get up in the morning and I'm just fucking like. It's such a whiny, baby thing to ask, but like. I just want something to go well. It keeps doing a 180 from the optimal outcome. I understand that life is all about making due with what you got and that it's messy and sub-optimal, but this is like bizzaro world.
And the joint where my wife is supposed to be working this summer just, as I was writing this, told her that instead of paying her 3500 for the summer, they'll only be able to offer 2000. That's about 4.50 an hour.
