I'm going to Italy, she is going to France
« on: June 22, 2009, 12:35:08 AM »
As the title says, Erasmus etc

Anyway, i really like her and she really likes me and things are going really well. But come end of august, early September, we will be going through this 10 month experience each.

We've planned already that i will go to her for her birthday in October, but things might get a bit more complicated after that. I'm not worrying that much, sorta divided between "meh, it's gonna be fine" and "tough road ahead" sometimes but i'm keeping a pretty cool head about it.

Anyway, amidst the whole playing around i've done i managed to find a girl i actually care for and we are in sync with each other, and i actually stepped into a relationship which goes against the kind of guy i've been for the last 2 years, and i face this weird challenge.

What says the bore?

If you're going to be in Italy for 10 months, you can't be limiting yourself with this relationship jargon. IMO.

I am not saying that you keep up with the pace that you did when you first met - its hard for new couples to maintain that intensity prior to marriage.

But married people make these jokes as if they don't have sex whatsoever.

My brother lived in Japan for 3 years and every girlfriend he had, had a boyfriend in the homecountry. He often complained to me that when a cute girl wants him and he could see a serious relationship with, they usually had a boyfriend waiting for them. In between girlfriends, he has also 'been' with women who had a boyfriend, but felt lonely and wanted affection.

Stuff happens during 10 months when you're in a foreign country.

Tieno's right.

According to real research I've read somewhere (emigration is big problem in Poland) 99% of girls/ women who are working/ studying abroad cheat her boyfriends/ husbands in the first month.

20% cheat in the first week (!!!).

Women are such whores... smh.
Well when they have Polish men like you back at home....

I like those statistics Borys.

Charlie, see you broke up after X years when you saw each other again. You could have been having fun all along abroad instead of waiting for that!

Men would cheat in the first hour if the piece of ass presented itself.  Don't hate on women just because men are easy.

Also, i found my GF at that time insanely hot - and she'd been a good friend since we were both 11. So i wasn't really interested in looking around - why eat hamburgers when you've got a steak waiting at home?

I'm going to agree with Borys, actually.  Women attach proximity to infidelity in a way men don't - guys will do the same thing a continent away that they'd do at home.

Again, I can't believe how many women left port with boyfriends and husbands when I set sail the other week - by the fourth day in, those spouses and partners were out of sight and out of mind.  I saw a newlywed wife tell a guy that she "wouldn't fuck him... on the first night".  By the time we hit our first island, they'd already thoroughly explored each others cabin.  Almost all the women I met had boyfriends and still hooked up with people on the ship.  I know a guy that hooked up with a mom that had her kid in the same cabin!

Women cheat.

Borys' research.  :lol :lol :lol :lol

Truth hurts, huh? Get a leash for your GF otherwise you'll regret it.

I don't know what's funnier: your research or your belief that I have a GF.

Damn it I've already been separated from my girlfriend for a month and I won't see her till the end of July. Willco's endorsement of Borys's nonexistent research has somehow induced paranoia.

WORD.

A producer at one of my previous companies, a guy about 6~8 years older than I am, was stunned to hear that I was still getting busy six months after the wedding day. I laughed and thought he was joking. He was an ex-standup-comedian, so it seemed likely. But he had this wistful look that I still remember 12 years later now. He was speaking prophecy.

Yeah, it's not fair to compare the rutting-like-bunnies pre-marriage phase with the post-kids, good-christ-i'm-too-tired-to-move post-childbirth phase, but there should be more middle ground. It's the only frustrating aspect of married life. I never signed on to go from Kosma levels of international lechery (OK, really, probably about 10% of what Kosma appears to do) to the monk-like existence currently held. Remember, it's only celibacy if it's intentional on the part of the practitioner.
