PC Bore: What's a decent cheap 3D card?
« on: June 28, 2009, 12:36:07 PM »
The computer we use for work at the lake fried last week, so we picked up a cheap Compaq (2.4 dual core, 3 gig of ram) to replace it. It's primary function is bookings and accounting, but my sister will occasionally use it for light gaming now and then, so I was thinking about slapping something in there so I could disable the integrated graphics.

ati 4850, what i bought recently.

this one: http://www.amazon.com/Sapphire-Radeon-PCI-Express-Fansink-Graphics/dp/B001EH77NG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1246203748&sr=1-1

cool card bro.

there is also the 1gb version which is close in price: http://www.amazon.com/Sapphire-Radeon-HD4850-PCI-Express-Graphics/dp/B001J6LQGG/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1246203748&sr=1-2

but i can't comment on how good it is, not that i play pc games anyway (i might for SF4).

Yeah, cheaper is definitely better. Both suggestions are appreciated though. Gives me some wiggle room.
