Can we build it? Yes I can.

I've spent almost 2 weeks building a playhouse for my kids. Dimensions are 8Wx12Lx6H. The cross beams are just temporary for support.

I'll follow up with the finished product but that is a ways off.

By time it's done I plan on having a shingled roof and storm windows. To the right of the front door is going to be the screened in "porch" area which faces the deck of the pool.

I got you one better.  When I was a kid, our stepfather built us the same thing, escept it was elevated, had a balcony and the bottom level was a sandbox.  You could climb a ladder to the balcony and get inside, and take a slide out of it.  Attached to the other side were swing sets.  Most badass tree house ever.

My dad built us a fort that was similar to that. There were two levels: the bottom was a sandbox, and the top was a lookout fort with a railing that ran all the way around. You climbed up to the top using a ladder attached to the front.

7.1 Surround too. Kids'll be bumpin some music. It'll probably be the first playhouse to be broken into, though.

It's not a treehouse without a tree.  My tree house had a fucking tv in it!

All I had is some cardboard boxes and steak knives, and an irrational amount of luck which led to me keeping ALL of my fingers and both eyes largely intact. Don't let these tree and TV fetishists take away from what you've accomplished. That is one bad-ass club house.

Coolest thing my dad ever made... He took the plastic parts from one of this shitty tents (I think it was one of those over-the-bed tents with California Raisins on it), and made this long tube that perfectly fit a cigarette so he could smoke in bed with the cigarette out the window and my mom never knew.

I thought it was bomb and I couldn't even use it.

Well, he dug out our crawlspace and made a huge extra room & bathroom with tons of closet space. And he didn't want to make stairs down to it, so he just put in an elevator where a closet was. That I could use and it's awesome.

Thanks for the kind words.  :)

It would be a bitch to get electric out there so I'm looking into a solar solution for the kegeratorlighting and stuff.

Damn Zero, that's bad ass.  My dad built us a pirate ship looking playhouse complete with a mast to raise up the Joly Roger on when we were about 8 or 9, but it was kind of open to the elements with no windows and it was freaking Georgia so it was kind of unpleasant to play in during the summer.

Damn. Nice job Zero! That already looks bigger and better than my place. How long before you complete it?
Probably won't happen til next spring. We are more concerned about getting the outside done to handle the winter. I want to put laminate flooring in and paneling on the walls on the inside but I won't have time til next spring.
I'll also have to dig a trench from my house to the playhouse(probably 120 feet) to get electric in there. Hopefully I can find a way to use solar power instead.

The cool thing about the playhouse too is that when one of your kids is still living with you past the age of 30, you have the ability to give them an ultimatum of finding their own place or moving out to the playhouse.

My dad built a very similar elevated tree-less tree house, except without the slide or the swingset, but he did paint a nearly perfect rendition of the Ghostbusters logo on the front door, which was about the coolest thing ever.  It was over 12 feet high, as I recall, and the indoors were too cramped for any more than two small kids.  Jesus, now that I'm thinking about it, my friends and I used to push each other off that fucking thing.  I think we're probably lucky to have never been seriously hurt or worse.  :lol

Finished up the outside a couple of weeks ago.

The inside is all wired up and insulated. I just have to put the walls up. I probably won't get to do anything til the new year.
Don't know what backwards place my father in law got some of the windows from... they only open from the outside.   ???

No, they are not in backwards.  :P
