Third gen NV goggles still go for about $3k (they talk about them on Coast to Coast all the time since they use them to see UFOs), so even if these are real they won't be that great.

It's not even that it's creepy. The problem, to me, is that it's a fucking (cheap) kids toy, an embarrassing pack-in especially given the tone and topics of the game.

I get them slightly cheaper than that, but yeah, NV is expensive. I'm going to guess that this is just basic illumination, like NV on video cameras and in those shitty "spy goggle" toys.

Sure, but the content up until then was nearly completely humorless, focused on the intensity of war complete with crawling enemies and executions, and had a generally very somber tone. I'm not sure what MW2 is going to be like, but I sure as hell don't associate it with rad EyeClops goggles, ads aired between Coco Puffs and Heelys.

well, I hate to defend them and am not entirely sure on the direction of the game, but the teaser trailers were all about night vision and shit, so maybe it's a theme.

You got the best version, the Pip-Boy isn't all that great. The plastic seems really cheap, and it runs on 3 AA batteries which it drains in about five days, so not really all that useful for a clock.

I played COD1 again last year. Still balls awesome, honestly it is probably going to the the best thing in the whole "box", if you will (I don't like the modern warfare style setting that much).

They should just do United Offensive as a 800 point add on later. It's awesome too.

No it's not hard on Veteran. The enemy accuracy is just ramped up and your health is lowered but the AI is simple enough that that's not actually a problem. You just crouch when you get hit, shoot a few guys, run forward past the respawn checkpoint, repeat over and over and over again.

Time limit levels are real ankle-grabbers though. You pretty much have to spam flashbangs and run away from the enemies.

Actually, thanks for the insight to both of you. I don't know if the "final level" is the last of the singleplayer or some additional bonus content or what. I know if I got to the very end of sp on Veteran, and then couldn't finish it, I'd be pretty pissed. Probably pissed off enough that I'd not re-play the entire game on a lower difficulty level just so I could finish it.

I like games that allow adjusting difficulty level on the fly, or at least at the beginning of each chapter.

I figured as much, but I play pretty often with these guys (6 man Gold Cross 55s vs the world) so I figured I'd just say cool and let it slide.
