:bow Sega :bow2

sacrifice one of the PS3s best games to make the PSP even more awesome

and Dragon Quest 9 got 40/40 in Famitsu, as if that means jack shit.  That's about it so far.

ok, actually looking at the character design now, it's really bad.

Year of the ps3 continues  :lol

psp's "resurgence" continues.

The characters look ok except the Selvaria knockoff.

If I can never get into strategy games, would I want to try out the original or avoid?

Did you try the demo, Lyte?  I'd try that first.

Inferior art? Cookie-cutter characters? School setting?  :yuck  The portable curse bites another series.

I'm not a fan of strategy titles (outside SD Gundam G Generation and SRW), but I really enjoyed Valkyira.

Who cares about the setting and character art, the gameplay rocked.

someone did a quick and dirty translation of the article.

Stolen from GAF's thread

Some of it's a bit hard to read so I'll try my best.

Takes place in 1937, 2 years after the events in Valkyria Chronicles 1. I believe it says an armed militia that goes by the name Gallian Reform Militia that is fighting for Darks equal rights or further discrimination (can't make out the kanji here) appears. The Gallian Military (not the people's militia) tries to quell the reform militia and fails, resulting into an escalation from an uprising towards a civil war. Can't make out the next part, but to try to turn the odds in their favor, it says something along the lines of the Gallian Government decides to throw the cadets at the Officer's academy into the front lines.

I'll update as better scans come along, but based off of context, I think the reform militia is anti-darks..however, i can't confirm.

edit @ 9:36pm
As the subtitle "Gallian Republic Officer's Academy" shows, this title's protagonists are officer candidates at a Gallian Republic's officer academy. The first news blowout will introduce you to the new characters around which the new story will unfold as well as the details of the new game system that has increased freedom and depth. Add to that, we also have an interview with the general producer, Tanaka Shuntaro (note, the producer for VC1 was Nonaka Ryutaro).

edit @ 9:42pm
You can select missions from the briefing room, find out details, then go into the mission. The game basically is a repetition of this, unlike VC1 where you only had one mission to choose from (except for the side-story missions which were optional).

Characters:
Evan Hardens
Zeri
Cosette Calhaus

That skimpily clad stupid looking Valkyria doesn't have a name given at this point in time.

edit @ 9:48pm
it appears that the system/price/release date info/etc says PSP adhoc mode compatible

having a mission choice makes it seem like they're subsiding the story crap and focusing on the awesome gameplay

I'm hoping multiplayer is good.  Maybe by then ad-hoc party will be out in English.  You would think they would do it for Dissidia.

Who cares about the setting and character art, the gameplay rocked.

exactly

even most of the character came from the gameplay where you can see which characters are racist, gay or wimps based on their likes/dislikes.  No one cares that Welkin likes bread that Alicia makes!

valkyria sucks

one of the most overrated games by ps3fags this gen

even tho i didn't like the game it's a shame that distinguished mentally-challenged fellows at sega decided to put the sequel on a handheld.

we need more rpgs on current gen consoles dammit

sega wants to make money.  valkyria ps3 sales weren't exactly spectacular, and the game didn't look cheap either.  the psp gives them the opportunity to grow this ip, without the big risk associated with releasing another ps3 installment.

I think the game looks pretty cheap. The hazy filter is pretty cool but it hides PS2 era modeling.

I don't think the game is overrated by Sony fanboys though, I think it stands up really well on its own. Even if the sea of cutscenes burned me out on it.

yeah, the game looked like a PS2 game already.  The only thing lost in the move to PSP is system preference.
