Since I heard 3030 nothing post-2000 has measured up. I don't even like the majority of Del's stuff, but this album facefucks me on every listen. It's actually become one of my favorite albums out of any genre, and it's very rare that I ever enjoy a hip-hop album from start to finish.

The problem is, I haven't been able to get in to anything else lately. It's gotten to the point where I've been downloading entire Hieroglyphics albums just for the songs that Del is on :lol I specifically feel like I'm missing out on all the stuff that's come out this past decade, and I'd like to fill in some of those blanks, but I have no clue where to start.

Here's what I have in my library right now (post-2000):

DANGERDOOM
- Meh. I probably like 2-3 songs total.
Madvillain - better than DANGERDOOM, but I'm still pretty indifferent towards most of DOOM's stuff. He is SOOOOO monotonous, and he always sounds bored, like he doesn't even want to be rapping.
Lupe Fiasco - Love most of his material, although The Cool was pretty underwhelming at times. There are some songs that I absolutely loathe (Superstar, Paris Tokyo, Gotta Eat, Dumb it Down [oh my fucking god this shit is so annoying], Fighters, Go Baby)
Cannibal Ox - I always hear people comparing The Cold Vein to 36 Chambers. I didn't see the resemblance. Again, just like DOOM, the wooden delivery puts me to sleep.
Y Society - Fucking awesome, their one album is a classic. I'm eagerly awaiting the sequel.

And here's some of my favorite stuff from Del to use as a reference point:

Madness
Turbulence (Remix)
Positive Contact
At The Helm (not on Deltron 3030, but HOLY SHIT SO GOOD)

So, what's the verdict? Am I too picky? Should I just wait for Deltron Event II? Or is there hope for me yet? I've made this thread on like 3 different forums and have yet to be wowed, so uh...wow me please.

I actually have 2000 Fold. It's alright, pretty hit-or-miss though. The titular track is great.

check out

-Blu & Exile - Beneath the Heavens. Fuck awesome

-P.O.S's new album, Never Better, is pretty good. Kinda in that emo hip hop type category, might turn some folks off
...uhhh brain fart, can't think of anything else

In terms of DOOM, the Viktor Vaughn album has more "energy" vocally so you might like it.

I liked Mos Def's first album and Black Star, but nothing else since then. And I've never really dug any of the UK stuff, especially grime. I'll try bt though, that didn't sound too bad.

Woops, I forgot to list Blu. I have Beneath The Heavens, that was another good one. I'll check out P.O.S. and Viktor Vaugn.

:lol Holy shit, I remember hearing him in a Tony Hawk game aaaages ago. I tried to Google the lyrics, but I could never find out who it was.

K-os is good, but I'm looking for something a little more traditional.

Thanks for all the recs, this gives me a lot to pick through. Oh, and I meant to ask this in the OP, but what do you guys think of MURS?

This P.O.S. album reminds me a lot of Saul Williams on NiggyTardust. Pretty badass.

Jesus, that Riff Raff song is just...wow :-\

Been listening to this album nonstop since buying it a month ago:

Evolution Flight by Cyne. They also released "Pretty dark things" last year (bought that too but it's still sealed :))

www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6eVPUKU3F4(bad qual.)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rP2ISUThbcQ

Besides that I've been listening to the new B.o.B Mixtape, especially the Bobby Ray part and the J.Cole "Warm up" mixtape.

J.Cole "Lights please" :      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=meQoF8OOjk4
         "Dollar and a dream: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-gGaDY8tKs

And since you enjoyed Deltron 3030 (which is kinda one big story) you'll probably like Masta Aces(the legend from which eminem "borrowed his flow) "A long hot summer" and "Disposable arts" too which are based on the same concept (kinda sad that no other artists do this, a nas album in that style would be insane..) and the underrated Sticky Fingaz solo "Black trash"

Some other (older) recommend.:

One be lo "Sonogram"

Blue scholars "Self titled & Bayani"

Lois logic "Misery loves comedy"

Median "Medians relief"

Panacea "The scenic route"

Zion I "True and livin"

Murs "3:16"

Little Brother "The Listening, Minstrel Show"

The Foreign Exchange (second one is a dope rnb album)

Drake lolz

He's witty in the couple songs I've heard of his, but I just don't "get" the appeal. He looks like a slightly hipper, more urban John Kerry. So why do ladies love him, and more importantly why do my friends with good taste continue to give him props

J Cole on the other hand is actually good but I just worry when it comes time to deliver an album it will be mediocre.

Damn, I almost forgot to mention K-Rino!

Got these 2 gems:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_xG2jEniKI "What if"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdk8ChQqilQ "Man in the mask"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a7k_KZ_KMzM "Who are you" Probably my fav Rino track

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6KMcKKEcqc&feature=related "Break it down" This one's insane

Hes has a very distinct voice and sometimes lackluster production but the lyrics are absolutely top notch.

Z-ro is also really nice but I guess all this Houston/S.U.C stuff isn't really what you are looking for.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nuLpuRog8f8
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3VIVmcrMQpc&feature=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1X-JKgXKt_U&feature=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2E_e8kA2fNo

Oh and I also like Drake but then again I love nearly every type of hip hop.  Even the old Cash Money/NL stuff (mainly because of the Beats by the Pound and especially Mannie Freshs productions). But imo hes really nice and better than all these wannabe gangsters like Ross, Plies Ace hood and so on.

I never understood why some people only care for one type of hip hop/rap. It always depends on my mood what I like to hear. If I'm in my car I wanna listen to some banging beats and since I don't really pay attention to the lyrics while I'm drivin I don't give a f If the rapper Is a lyrical genius or not.
