The very best of Sega
« on: December 10, 2006, 09:37:11 PM »
Pick and choose, and explain why this game means so much to you! You can only pick one because Sega has so many AWESOME games. Fuck yeah! If it's in a series I list the series only! You pick which one is your favorite in that said series, not too hard is it?

1. Sonic the Hedgehog
2. Alex Kidd
3. Penguin Land
4. Afterburner
5. Hang On
6. Outrun
7. Streets of Rage
8. Comix Zone
9. Panzer Dragoon
10. Jet Set Radio
11. Chu Chu Rocket
12. Puyo Puyo
13. Space Channel 5
14. Samba de Amigo
15. Rez
16. Gun Valkyrie
17. Shinobi
18. Shenmue
19. Phantasy Star
20. Shining Force
21. Virtua Fighter
22. Nights
23. Clockwork Knight
24. Yakuza

Am I missing anything on this list of SEGA AWESOME?

Streets of Rage is only like, the best side scrolling beat 'em up game ever. :D

I've only played Phantasy Star IV, but it's one of the best 2D RPGs ever. :)

Sonic R.I.P. :'(

Sega R.I.P.

 :'(

Fuck that Sammy buyout! And fuck Sega for those Genesis adds ons and releasing the Saturn early, which fucked them over later. I would have gotten a Saturn instead of a psx if Saturn had more games on it.

I've only played about 1/4 of those series.

All the Genesis Sonics were awesome.
Streets of Rage 1 and 2 were also pretty damn sweet.
Panzer Dragoon Orta was one of the best games on Xbox.
Shenmue was great when I first played it on Dreamcast. I got a burned copy of Shenmue II (DC) from a friend, but I couldn't finish it. The load times and tediousness got to me big time. Maybe I just didn't realize that the first time around with the original.

Segaaaaaa  :'(

The biggest downfall in history! From the best 1st party console developer EVER to a lowly 3rd party piece of shit distributor.

OH HOW THE MIGHTY HAVE FALLEN

Oh yeah, Panzer Dragoon Orta was my first experience with that series. It's just as good, if not better than the Starfox games.

Btw, is Gun Valkyrie really good? I got it for like ten dollars 2 months ago, but I haven't spent any time with it.

I forgot Skies of Arcadia!  :( Then there are import series I  have never managed to play due to not coming over here, like Sakura Taisen.

Cajole: I wish I had BOTH. :(

Gun Valkyrie is a pretty damn non conventional action game. It...it takes time to get used to, but once you get into it, it's a BLAST. Still though, I think they should have gone with conventional controls instead, it would have been so much more awesome. In GV you often find yourself fighting the controls rather than trying to stop mother fuckers from killing you.

The game really reminds me of Metroid and is an example as to how a 3rd person Metroid would look like.

NiGHTs is shit. Actually, outside of VF2 and DoA1, Saturn 3D is an abomination. PD Zwei went from good to argh, and NiGHTS went from yuck to MY GOD IT'S AN ABOMINATION

I want to give the love to Phantasy Star 4, but Jet Set Radio is just plain better

I have to give it up for gameplay and JSR has that in spades

The ONLY problem with the Genesis collection is the total lack of Streets of Rage.  WTF?

I fail to see how this fact is related. Earthbound was awesome when I played it, maybe its nostalgia but its still good.

I imagine there will be a Sega Genesis Collections 2 with this:

Streets of Rage 1-3
Sonic 3, Knuckles
Greendog
Musha
Thunderforce III
Space Harrier 2
Afterburner 2
Outrun
Shadowrun
Shining Force I and II
Strider
ToeJam and Earl 1 and 2
Castlevania: Bloodlines

Plus other stuff

Hopefully they eventually release Sega CD Collections, Sega 32X Collections, and Sega Saturn Collections.

1. Sonic the Hedgehog 2. I stayed up hours into the night playing this back in 5th grade. I lived in Cali at the time and when I think back to living there this sticks out the most for me. I remember my mom was dating this guy and his son would come over and we would play this until 4 in the morning. I also got my first kiss while playing Sonic.

It's funny, I'll play it every now and then and even though it has been years since I played I still remember every level, where every coin, rope, tunnel is etc.
